- from a rp point of view, Light Jedi are sorta SUPPOSED to have "carebear" mentalities.
- If you're refering to it as a deragatory term for those who don't like PvP, well, not much of an insult there. PvP in this game is all kinds of stupid. Always has been unbalanced, and generally the inner sanctum of the powergaming uberdorks.

Actually from what I read on the Starwars Web sites Light Jedi were always known to Gank Sith Lords. That seems pretty un-carebear like to me. Light Jedi like to talk like they are good/fair ect....but go against them and they gank you.Just look at the movies to prove my point, poor Darth Maul was ganked.Obi and Anni triedganked Dooku TWICE. Then they tried to Gank Palp with4 Master Jedi.

Carebear is this:

(A) Plays MMo's in spare time,has a wife,a job,and most importantly a life

(B)A satisfied customer who understands its a privliege to play online games, not a right, thus doesnt have negative comments towards game dev's because they realize its not there game.

(c)When something is changed in game that they do not like, instead of hinting to mental problems by ranting to someone that doesnt care, they quit.

(D)hated by all who do not posess a "Real Life",thus constantly insulted by people who tend to stare at online female charaters for some odd reason.

Its like this hopefully all you crybabys leave, which most of u wont because u have nothing in life beyond SWG,and u will stay and cry more and give Carebears a good laugh everytime they read the forums................thx for all the laughs guys really appreciate it

YOu catually make a very good point. Combat and Jedi duels are a part of SW and should have their place in SWG...irrespective if you are a light/dark Jedi. But all of the fighting in the movies served a purpose. What is the purpose of much of the fighting going on now? If they can justify their actions in the name of role-playing...right on...keep on doing it. But a majority of PvPers are in it for other reasons. Nothing terribly wrong with it...but I think the purpose of the 9 new Iconic professions and each having a role-model...is to bring us back to trying to be more like SW should be. Again, my opinion.

Carebear has nothing to do with having a real life. I know plenty of pre-patch 9 jedi that had a real life, ie. job, school, girlfriends. We were just smart and sold on eBay before the new Carebears Online comes out on Nov 15th

Ok, the reason this "carebear" label seems totally ridiculous to me -- it's a game. Yeah, that's right, just a game. And games are *supposed* to be fun. Otherwise it's not really a game... If you start having to do stuff that's not fun, then there's no point in playing the game, because it's not serving its purpose -- presumably, to amuse and entertain. And for many of us, PVP just isn't any fun. Not because we're good or bad at it, but because it just isn't fun, it's not something we enjoy. It's also inherently contradictory to say that a carebear wants everything the easy way, and to say that Jedi are carebears if they don't like to pvp. Jedi always was the hardest profession to pursue, and the most time consuming one of all, in the old game. Furthermore, I never saw pvp in the old game as a real test of skill. Most pvp'ers always went for the FOTM template, used the same or similar weapons, armor, food, etc. And once engaged in pvp, most of it simply involved spaming specials and healing -- pure button mashing.

I wonder how pvp'ers would feel if people just started calling them "Neanderthals"....

Carebear has been around since the first time a player in an MMO decided they wanted to camp NPC trolls for advancement instead of interacting with other players even if that involves combat. Carebear is a term used to describe that special class of person that wants to have every perk but cannot handle the risk that isinvolved with any reward, and thus imbues the reward with it's rewarding quality in the first place.

It can be summed up into this:

A carebear would rather have everyone have the same thing so they don't have to miss out on anything.

A carebear would rather every character be the same so that they don't feel their missing out on anything.

A carebear is NEVER willing to risk anything of theirs or spend any amount of time on anything when they can whine for a CSR or Dev to give it to them.

A carebear thus does usually not like PvP because it will involve the occassional loss, which a carebear cannot handle.
