Thread: BH's view on mdef

Tested something out recently...on a full temp jedi with no defender or force buffs i hit for 1.6k using headshot. on a master defender running aura i hit for 300. Personally i think that that's extremely unbalanced and causes jedi to almost require master defender in their template. Also, it makes jedi that don't have defender or force armour sitting ducks since they can't wear armour. What I think would make sense is to lower how much mdef helps (like say make it mitigate 400 or so) but at the same time add innate defenses to jedi padawan so that a no def jedi would be hit for 700, not 1.6k...and the mdef would still get as much protection as they have. Um...yeah. Not very well thought out but this just seems like it'd make more sense to me...whatever.

not sure, just know they either had no defender or were a complete nub...they didnt have aura going at all. end was 225k so not a double master. What im trying to say is...just...i dunno. defender shouldnt be required to stand a chance (or menhance but that takes a definate amount of skill to use)

It has a lot to do with the Jedi toughness and the ranged/melee defenses as opposed to being a MDef. I agree that it is kind of disappointing how hard you get hit as a non defender, but with practice you get used to it and learn that you need to group up to survive against more than a 1 on 1 attack.

I do agree though that there is a HUGE disparity between the longevity of any Jedi with some Def (even just 0040) compared to any Jedi with no defender at all.

having at least force armor or force aura are requirements for any viable jedi pvp template. btw get a gun with the highest min damage to can find for your damage dealer vs. a person with aura, since their defensive mods are automatically going to make ou revert to the min damage on your weapon.

so... get a weapon with good speed, HIGH min dmg, great sac for use in the majority of the fight vs. peopel with aura

and... get a weapon with good speed, HIGH max damage, and ok sac for use in the maximum dmg potential situation (delay shot them while aura is blinking and after 5 seconds kd and youll have them on the ground without aura, and you can spam your highest dmg shots for good stuff)

Did you try hitting a 7000 armor TK/Swords with CoB on?

You will get much less damages than a master defender. Did you spend half your skill points OR some money for your defenses... No matter or what, Jedi Master Defender, is not much tougher than a Melee Template.

Because it is melee, you are ranged. If you want to stand and kite, that's a dream..

Master Defender is for the most part, "working as inteded."

Even then, Master Defender is nothing w/out Aura. Aura mitigates damage, and allows for some shots to be missed. What makes Aura especially good, is that it stacks on top of melee/ranged defense (same thing as Aura) and then ontop of innate armor. With that being said, use a startle shot as soon as Aura is coming off and you will see how susceptible Master Defenders can really be.

Also, comparing a Master Defender vs. no Defender isn't even a comparison. Its like comparing a MLS to a MHealer.

Its true that the Jedi tree could indeed be revamped (but won't or shouldn't). It'd be nice if there were a modified tree of publish 9, but its not going to happen. Its stupid how they force you to take healer, and force you to take some Defenses, and force you to take some Offenses.

You've seen it's not absolutely necessary to have aura or force armor from fighting againstme.... but it does make a HUGE difference. If I didn't take 300 deaths before I got the hang of my template I would be frustrated too.

a Mdef as strong as a reg melee proffession, you have got to be out of your mind. i was TKM Mswords, and now im Mdef and MLS, and my def is threw the roof right now as opposed to what it was.

Like +20 armor, which is as good as no armor at all.

Here is a fun test for you, try Aura AND Armor together, I bet your damage will drop to around 200, I have been hit for over 1500 damage from a rifle when I did not realize my force armor was not on.
