ok i wanna just get some numbers here, i have heard of a a few others getting this problem, and im looking to conferm more accounts.
first off heres the simptoms in order of how they happen

Blue dot on radar
ping rises to around 500ms - 3000ms
lag becomes unplayable
blue dot turns red
game frezes
death blow is delt from bounty hunter. (no idea when game is froze still)
dot dissaperes
game resumeds normal avg ping
you clone / regain consisness / use hero ring / player rez
you "/say ????"

simptoms end.

if anyone has had exsactly the same simptoms here, just say so try not to go off topic here, can't count the number of flames in with the actual accounts.

i usually kill most of the Bh that comes for me, but lately the lag when BH attacking or PvP for that matter is outrageous... ive died the last 2 BH attacks coz of lag and i have bugged it several time w/o response. Hope SoE will adress this soon coz it makes me run when BH comes now adays and thats no fun at all.

thats if you can run before your rooted lagged and deathblown.

current problems with lag is a major issue i guess, and i feel it may be overlooked

some complain of these lag issues...some dont.
I am beginning to think that ISP's may be the issue.
the truth is most broadband connections are poorly configured for gaming. and the network settings on most home computers are not adjusted at all by the users to help make up for this.
doublecheck this first. if you are certain that it isnt an inadequatevideo card, system RAM, or your connection/settings then you should look toward finding out if an exploit of some sort was used.

Report the other player for speed hacking. Just one player cannot sky-rocket the ping that high by using regular in-game mechanics. SWG gets laggy, but it can support 20 vs 20 PvP, and it doesnt get that laggy if you are spinning a picket lair.
The problem is you cannot tell if anybody is speed hacking aside from those symptoms, if he doesnt do it SOE will not cause him any harm when they check on him.

This is assuming your ping was well below 500 and you could run SWG smoothly before the blue dot appeared and dont have performance issues in PvE.

Have noticed a big increase in lag since last two patches. Also huge lags when i open an inventory or data pad for the first time in the game. Actually timed it to over 4 seconds per frame. This is rediculous becuase never had it before and when the battle can be over in 3 alot of jedi are loosing massive points because of bad programming.

There's a certain bounty hunter on my server that has a reputation for attacking at times of severe lag. When he got me, I was at a starship terminal. I was at 50% health before I even knew he was there, and I was suddenly dropped to less than 1 frame per second, running into walls, totally unaware of what was going on around me. Three other members of my guild have been hit by this particular BH, and each one reported sudden onset of unplayable lag. We wondered if it was perhaps the animation or combination of animations of the combat medic debuffs, the opening move for this BH, but in dueling tests we could not replicate the lag. The more we investigate, the more we think that perhaps there is something outside the standard game mechanics at work here. Question: does the combat log time stamps reflect client or server times? And is it possible to get more than one action per second (isn't 1.0 the speed cap for any move)?

Combat log timestamps are client-side, and it is not possible to go below 1 second turnaround timer on alternating attacks.
Lag can cause a gap in your timestamps, followed by several attacks in the same second as your client catches up to the server. If the gap up front is missing, your opponent might be using speed hacks or exploiting in-game cooldown timers or other bugs.

I was on Lok Saturday night. My game has not crashed in months, not against BH or when the system is a lag fest. Out of nowhere my game freezes and I have to reboot. When I log back in, I am dead due to a BH. Not sure what the deal is there, but again, my game has not frooze or crashed in months and the first time a BH comes after me post-pub 23 it happens. I AM NOT CLAIMING EXPLOIT, but I am curious to know what's going on.

Oh yeah, when I looked at my combat log, it had been reset to an hour b4 so I couldn't even see who killed me. Fortunately a guildie saw and informed me.

Just curious, if you have a firewall that can check incoming traffic, see if right before the bh attack if there is a large number of pings or activity from non-soe domains. Seems like with a tracer program you could use a third party program (aka not SWG) to find your target's computer and make it lag to oblivion. Just a thought as something to investigate on your computer for those of you who have had a problem.

Just on a side note, I get a lot of spam email (badly written) when my SWG account is active but when i hit the cancel button it goes away then i decide i really want SWG again i get spam email again. A repeatable phenomena in the 4 -5 times i have canceled my account for whatever reason then resubscribed lol - i can be a fickle person.

This game works on a client-server system. Your computer will only connect to the SWG servers and nothing else. A player will never have anything close to another player's IP address unless they hack into SWG's servers, which would probably be detected. Would be quite silly to risk jail time just to kill someone in a game.

In one of the old mmo's i used to play there was a similar problem to what is described in this thread. PVPers had found a way to make the server run a diagnostic on the player in question. This caused the server to send massive amounts of commands to the players client causing insane lag. Maybe far fecthed but is possible a similar type program is being used here.

wow that actually sounds plausible.
