Suggestion for Pearl/Crystal Fix.

I recieved a PM today from a community member asking me to address his suggestion. His suggestion was this.

"With the current situation of pearl drops as they are, which is very unbalancing for the game, and the devs seems to have problems fixing it, would it not be an idea to suggest to them to remove the "jedi specific requirement" on already tuned pearls and crystals. As we all know older most older jedi have a stock of tuned pearls they dont use because they have slighty better ones in their saber ADK'ed. this will create a new market and allow older jedi to give to new jedi in their guild, or sell them if they wish."

With that said. I am also aware that this has been dicussed in the past. What I told him was maybe a re-tune option instead of just taking away names (BioLink) from current tunes. I know there are some of us older Jedi that have plenty of extras (in some cases bags of 50) but would it be fair to allow us to sell them for Millions of credits?

/Discuss

Edit:

I guess what I am wondering is would people be ok with this if proposed to the Devs? A re-tune option.

1st

sweet...i think it would be a great idea if they dropped the "bio-link" to the tuner...

id love to get some of my friends pearls which are already tuned to pretty good stats and he finds a better tuned pearl so i could have it...

then i wont be stuck with all quality pearls where my best tune is 96 dam -4 FC

I guess this could be an option, but most Jedi I know if they haven't decorated their house with their less than stellar pearls have already delteted them.

The only fixes I see actually working for the post-CU Jedi are either changing the tuning system so it's not so random with good pearls, and enabling good pearls to tun perfectly (I think this would be easier than fixing loot)

Or fixing prems and flawless loot.

Either way we need to see a fixof some kind for pearls and sabersin Publish 23, and I hope that you really push as hard as you can for it Bac, I'm sure you already are, but we've been literally waiting months and the Jedi community is getting very fed up. We've had very little attention since our uber nerf in Publish 19.

I think this would be okay for the meanwhile, but in no way is this a fix to the problem. This is more of a cosmetic solution, one that we could probably use.

What worries me is that if this would happen, the devs might think this is enough and forget about fixing the drops.

Why not just give every jedi uber saber parts so they can build a nice weapon since the Dev's cant/wont fix the system. Why should the players have to suffer because the Dev's cant get things working right? Jedi havent been able to get good saber parts since the CU thats redicules when all the other proffessions can obtain really nice weapons fairly easy.

One idea is to allow the owner of the tuned pearl/crystal to be given an option to 'untune' the pearl/crystal. If the item is untuned, it would drop to the next lower rating quality (i.e., a tuned flawless that is untuned would become a premium). This would allow the owner to attempt another tune (maybe because the first tune was bad) or to sell or give the item away.

I think that this would cause a little too much price-gouging. This again is something that would benefit the older Jedi, but hurt the newer Jedi.

A better solution would be to *SLIGHTLY* alter the chances of lower tier crystals and pearls to tune higher. Right now, a fair crystal can tune to the same stats as a premium, but it's much less likely to happen. Make it a little more common and you'll have a good balance. Premiums will be rare like they're supposed to be, and lower-tier crystals will be more common, so that lower-tier jedi have to collect a lot of them in order to tune a good one. Premiums will almost always guarantee a good tune, but getting them is harder. Good and fair crystals will be easy to get but tuning them to good stats will be harder.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

So when untuned you would get the following results:

Flawless > Premium

Premium > Select

Select > Quality

Quality > Good

Good > Fair

Fair > Poor

Poor > Poor

I've already suggested what I think is the most fair way of fixing the whole pearl/crystal situation....

GET RID OF THEM.

Make crystal packs a normal, craftable component that uses experimentation and carries damage, speed, SAC, and Force Cost stat modifiers. Then the more skills you have in Lightsaber Techniques, the better each part of the lightsaber becomes -- crystal packs and final lightsaber. At Master Lightsaber, with the right resources and using the correct tools and foods, you would have the ability to craft the best lightsabers through skill points and time invested -- rather than through random luck or some prayer to the pearl drop and tuning gods.

That's the way to fix this mess.

I find this to be a good solution, as we have heard from the devs that they have problems fixing the pearl drops (which of course would be the best option), so I see this as a good alternative.

yes it will create some high prices, with a re-tune or with the current stats already on them, but I know, that at least of the jedi I know on my server, almost all of them have a good bagfull or tuned crystals / pearls that they dont really use. these could be put to good use by donating them to guildmembers or selling them.

However, if the re-tune option is preferred, there will have to be another sort of bio-link so each jedi can only tune it once, so noone will just re-tune it till it comes out with perfect stats.

This would in my opinion at least smooth out a lot of the frustration younger jedi feel when having a saber with 560ish max damage, and 1.9 modifed speed as MLS.

Basically, yes but a poor wouldn't be untuneable. Either keep it or destroy it.

Thats why Im not infavor of just removing the name (BioLink) from Pearls/Crystals. At least with new stats this would help to minimize this "Price-Gouging".
