Thread: Give the Devs a break, and stop choking this forum!

Before i start, no, the title wasn't sarcastic

Have a look at the Jedi forums...

Go on...

Now tell me, did you see a single thread without Dev bashing? Without cries to be made more powerful? Without melodramatic */putsonflameproofsuit* whining?

Now, let's look at the negative things just recentlythat we think about the game's development.

-The game is still riddled wth bugs, which should have been sorted long ago.

-New bugs have a tendancy to spring up after every single patch.

-A lack of communication is sometimes present.

But let's look on the bright side of things in the last month or so:

-We have another expansion around the corner, which promises to be a great addition to the SWG universe.

-The AI has been upgraded tremendously, and (admittedly with some regen bugs ) is now a challenge to even veteran players.

-They still manage to fixa lot of the bugs in a short period of time.

We all moan to the devs about things...but I just don't see how this is conducive to the forum's wellbeing.

We need to stop complaining so much! If you want to complain about something, find a thread that already complains about the thing you want to and post there. or better still, you'd be best off not to complain at all, chances are it won't do any good anyway. The Devs are more than aware of what we hate and moaning more won't do anything to pummel the fact further into their heads.

Think about it this way..a new jedi asks for advice on the forums about his template, for example. He gets nearly no feedback because his post is swamped by complaining threads, at least 5 different ones saying the same thing...which has been said before again...and again... and again...

And as for the constant clamouring for power we have, I think some deluded people should stop kidding themselves. Anybody who said they became a jedi to "roleplay" is kidding themselves. The only reason we all became jedi is that we wanted to be stronger. Why else would we have grinded out tons of exp? We, in a nutshell, basically wanted to "PWN N00BZ" and be "UBER L33T" etc...

I remember the feeling i got over a year ago when i saw a jedi in the wild...it was immense, seeing him dish out tens of thousands of damage to the lair and creatures he was spinning every few seconds. Made my TKM look like a joke...

But let's look at the reality of things now. If we were that strong, it would be impossible for any other profession tocompete, there aretoo many jedi floating around the place. This has been said so many times before but it doesn't seem to sink in with people. So getting stronger again is hardly an option. Even if we did have our own battles free from the GCW, what about PvE? With so much of the game's best loot dropping from the highest level NPCs you can find, we would hoarde all the loot, and kill things FAR too easilly if we were given apower hike. If the mobs were boosted in power too, what would happen to the non-jedis? Let them rot attacking FS npcs for awful crystals? Let them loot corpses of low end mobs expecting, if they're lucky, a 200 dps weapon because they haven't a fighting chance against bosses? This is not viable to me.

And for this reason, we constantly moan at our current Devs for screwin' up what was the best damn3d game on the planet. And to tell the truth, at the time it was. But what is the biggest complaint about Galaxies? That there are too many jedi. Let's not forget that the original Devs devised a system that theoretically allows every character in game to become a jedi. The new Devs took over just at the point where jedi were vastly increasing in numbers. Their enhancements to BH in this respect are entirely justified because it was the only fair conceivable way to hinder the Jedi. Besides...when the FRS comes along again there WILL be something to aspire to. There WILL be that feeling you got when you saw jedi spinning lairs in half a minute, because thereWILL be people who are, basically, "Ub3r". They will have the power to trash you one on one and so long as the new FRS is fair, we will all get a shot at it. There will be a NEW endgame for us. A far more meaningful one than we had before. f this I am confident.

As I close, I'd just like to point out that I am one of the poorest Jedi on my server. I have felt badly the broken pearl drops (my saber has 517 max damage, ffs , and more than once have been deterred from playing my jedi from the fear of being on the BH terminals. But I live with it. Because deep down, I actually like this game. And I'm sure that under all that resent for the Devs, you do do. So let's cut some slack for the people who are trying to make our game a more balanced and fun experience for everyone.

all I can say is wash your nose, because it's pretty brown right now. We have 2 expansions? As if that is some sort of positive aspect? HELLO BOTH OF THOSE EXPANSIONS HAVE MORE BUGS THAN THE LIVE GAME!! which is pretty hard to believe.

Think about it, we have had one real request for a very long time, fix crystal/pearls, how hard is that? How is it they have put out two expansions while forgetting to do this. It would be like the time when all ranged weapons didn't have damage individually, and it was all just based off weapon type. Pure utter garbage.

Just posting a two page topic about the positives isn't enough, especially with the non-chalant attitude displayed toward members of the jedi community, we've asked for an answer, a fix, a time when we'll have an answer or a fix, we get NONE of this. We've only in the past month or two got them to ACKNOWLEDGE these problems.

So please, get off your high horse, or out from behind it.

Wow, why don't you read the whole forum bub!

Ya there are a lot of whiner posts...but not after and during dozens of constructive well thought out...incredibly smart and detailed positive post were made.

Just browse some of the stickied ones for reference. Glzmo would be a great name to click on and start with...

Problem is...the forums are choking...due to the extreme frustration of this community not getting any direct and honest feedback from someone who is not a forum mod...or a plumber....or doing stuff on his spare time on the weekends for bh's.

They want to hear from someone who has the authority to make changes to our prof and they want an insight to what they are doing to it....The DEVS know mark my words...they have planned it out. What they have not done is communicate even 2% of it to us...why? They know that if we knew the whole plan it would be game over for us....So they hope little dribs and drabs without any direct reference will keep us playing and hoping and paying.

That's the bottom line...

No one who works for any Company this size believes for a minute this Jedi issue hasn't been hashed over to death by the team of Developers...and an indepth action plan has been created...Too bad their isn't a whistle blower inside SOE willing to post the notes...that would at least make it fair for us to judge whether I want to stay or go...

Respectfully

Wow...you showed me with those flames. Thanks for redefining my views on everything SWG related. And btw, i do think expansions are a good thing, they mean CONTENT! Looking through the forums, one of the biggest complaints we have is about CONTENT! Now they give it to us, you're complaining about the bugs? They gave us the content, they'll get around to the bugs.

On a more serious note, anybody with half a brain can see that the premium pearl withdrawal was intentional. And personally, I agree with it. People can get bloody good tunes as it is from good pearls and quality crystals. There have been many tuned to over 100 damage with good fc. Now, if premiums were re-introduced, we'd have powerful as can be jedi running around all over the place. This is not an option for SOE. Something has to be a limiting factor in Jedi. It used to be the hefty grind, but now is the hunt for some good pearls. It's healthy for the game, it means you can't just farm premiums and flawlesses and be guaranteed a nice saber.

This is just the kind of silliness that leads to all the flame threads... Sabers do not compare to almost all Elite Professions top weapons. Not even close...and when you factor in the work to get a decent one...it's a joke. You have to have 4 perfect pearls just to get a relatively close Damage one...that won't help ya on speed son it's broken...and it won't help ya on sac...cause...well sac is gonna be 95-100 and we can't pup that sucker...

Oh, you sure showed me by pretending you know what you're talking about.

First rule of MMO's should be no new content while exis ting content is broken!!

And according to what you said, the pearl/crystal thing being intentional, shouldn't SOE have told us about this being such a great company that you think they are? After all, why would they leave like 40% of their playerbase to founder, and have no way of improving themselves don't you think at the very least as a just and moral company they'd be bound by honor to tell us that sort of thing?

Unless of course SOE were a money grubbing corporation trying to get that 40% of the playerbase to buy two new expansions, and continue paying 15 dollars a month by keeping them in the dark.

No one trolled here but you, because your ignorance is worse than anything I could possibly say to you.

lol guaranteed a nice saber..... are you serious. do you even know how the premium and flawless pearls tuned????? well lets put it this way, youd have 40 or 50 laying around. you might get 1 tune that was good. and how is our damage even comparable to the weapons coming out? most sabers are only half the damage as any other profs weapons. of which they get 2 different types of, kinetic and energy. ours are just energy period. there is no surprise to a bh when they are wearing energy resist armor because thats all the damage type we have. we have been slowly nerfed down to be very predictable.

The bh's know our weapons does energy damage, therefore no fear of wearing a low kinetic damage set of armor with a high energy resist set. they know that we have basically 3 moves which to really pound on them, one of them armorbreak. so they get an ab sliced set of armor, then we can't even break their armor nor cause it decay because they adk it. so even if we could pound on them long enough to technically break their armor, its adk'd who cares. please dont come in here telling us veterans of the jedi/bh wars about what is right and what is wrong. most jedi dont want to pwn or whatever, what we do want is to have a fair chance in an even fight.

On the saber power issue, take things from a Bh point of view .

When I hunt I get constantly bombarded with incredible amounts of damage. Sure, I can on occasion deal more (3 million credit Featherweight) but the jedi have other abilities like block and incredible defences to ensure i miss, or have my damage output lowered as much as possible. i think It's pretty fair the way it is, and this is coming from somebody with a 517 max dam saber. The HAM cost and speed are serious issues, hell, I'll admit that, but the Devs wil get round to it.... I hope...

I'm not whining about anything. I was just expressing in a structured manner that the forum is being clogged up by the complaints and Dev bashing. Thought it'd be nice to have a little defence of the Devs, that's all
