I don't know if anyone has tested this before, or if it has ever been posted anywhere else, so I thought I would put up my test results for the benifit of the community. For non-knights the force armor mod in the skill sheet will be +45 for FA2 and +25 for FA1, mine is slightly higher due to my Force Control +4 Modifier for being in the FRS.
Force Armor 2 Results
(+47 Force Armor in Skill Mod Sheet, 47% Damage Reduction)
(+47 Force Armor in Skill Mod Sheet, 47% Damage Reduction)
Damage Reduced: 111
Force Cost: 33
Force Cost Mod: .297
Force Cost: 33
Force Cost Mod: .297
Damage Reduced: 78
Force Cost: 23
Force Cost Mod: .294
Damage Reduced: 55
Force Cost: 23
Force Cost Mod: .294
Damage Reduced: 55
Force Cost: 16
Force Cost Mod: .290
Force Cost Mod: .290
I suspect the Force Cost Modifier for FA2 is .3 for non knights, and the reason my force cost is slighly less is because of my Force Manipulation +5 modifier from being in the FRS. I would love to see some tests done with non knights though.
Force Armor 1 Results
(+26 Force Armor in Skill Mod Sheet, 26% Damage Reduction)
(+26 Force Armor in Skill Mod Sheet, 26% Damage Reduction)
Damage Reduced: 61
Force Cost: 30
Force Cost Mod: .491
Damage Reduced: 43
Force Cost: 21
Force Cost Mod: .488
Damage Reduced: 31
Force Cost: 15
Force Cost Mod: .483
I suspect the Force Cost Modifier for FA1 is .5 for non knights, and the reason my force cost is slighly less is because of my Force Manipulation +5 modifier from being in the FRS. Again, I would love to see some tests done with non knights.

Wow...
So, if a hit WOULD have impacted you for 400 damage (probably a fair assumption for most melee situations, after toughness is factored in), you'll be blowing 120 force to block a little less than half of it with FA2?
That's somewhat depressing. Those costs are way too high. :/
....evey second. I'm not a big FA fan. Synthstake does the same job, only better and cheaper.
4x synthstake ( all you can use till yer full)= 132 hits @ %40 damage reduction.
using FA2 you run out of force bar after around 70 hits? ( rough avg of 100 force used/hit) So you can last half as long, but block %7 more damage? At the cost of how many skill points?
It gets even more brutal if you start factoring in the force used to heal yerself from the damage that is getting thru.
force armour get stronger the higher you get and uses LESS force per hit the higher you get
seems to be darks go up 2 a level and lights go up 3 a level from what ive read on these boards

absolutely. I can see a point where FA would pass synthstake. It's prolly around rank5. Not many folks are gonna be/hold/ever see rank5 tho.
for now the formulae is " Total force bar/ {(opponents DPS X 0.4 damage reduced)X 0.3 force points/point absorbed}= number of seconds before you run out of force and die."
7000/((1000x0.4)x0.3}= or 58.3 seconds vs a speedcapped powerhammer type weapon, a DPS of 1000 in PvP. My synthstake won't run out for another 70 seconds, and I haven't used a drop of force.

is it a constant 45% reduction or does it change depending on the ap of the weapon ?
p.s another really helpful post . cheers

I see FA as being far superior to synthsteak. Yes, synthsteak is a 45% damage reduction for no force cost, but if I use thakatillo in a fight (which I do every time) I only have space for 2 synthsteaks. Compare that to a person with FA, who can not only use a holocron or channel to get force back, but if they get into trouble they can drop FA and use synth.

Force "Armor" isreally a misnomer. It should be called Force Damage Reduction as it works the exact same way as foods like synthasteak and exoprotien wafers. AP has no effect on force armor whatsoever, it is always a consistant 45% damage reduction.

True synthasteak might be fine alone, but what if you stacked it with FA, and force intimidate? Damage to both force and HAM will be so reduced it would be like running around in full compo again. Of course, none of the popular dual mastery templates can do all three, but that's why I'm making a dabbler template.

True but if you master defender instead of getting enhancer, then you can get 75% damage reduction, 105 (I think) melee def,and good state def, without fear of running outta force. Plus synthsteak last an hour, so if you know you are going into battle, then you could use 2 synthsteak half an hour before hand and get to the battle with no filling and 2 sythsteak already on.

Until you see a jedi, and the jedi has force armor that works against your lightsaber, and your jedi toughness doesn't help you at all

You can only eat one damage reduction food at a time. If you are on a synth you can't eat a synth OR a flameout until the food drops (by being hit enough times or the timer drops).
