Thread: So it seems being AFK in a house is a problem.

I feel the same way, and now hearing how BHs are going to be allowed to send a droid into MY PRIVATE HOUSE when im either afk or crafter or whatever i think this is total bullshizt and should not even be considered seriously because last time i was afk for like 30mins getting a drink from the store some how or another a BH came and pulled me outa my private house and 3xincaped me....... bugs such as saber speed should be the only priorty in SOEs list, because i think im going to start exploiting like the freaking BHs do everytime they come after me wiht a PH hitting 1k+ every second. and healing when knocked down. How can u heal when ur on ur back and u are unable to get up, infact he healed twice before getting up. I find it funny that i can spend hours getting a few pearls and spend millions apon millions to get them and yet 86% of mine tune to 60 or less damage and i have yet to pass -6FC i have tuned over 95 pearls/crystals. Jedi really needs work done on it because this is really getting annoying that every BH i see calls exploit when i cloak and run away, he should scream lag lag..... I think the BH proff should just be deleted or jedi missions frozen till these bugs are fixed.
It's a reflection of how good the BH comunity have it at the moment. I really wish all I had to complain about was something so trivial.
With all the expensive loot, shed loads of cash, grindable FOTM uber template in 5 days, weak Jedi marks, nothing to lose by death, it's no wonder all they have left to complain about is getting us out our private houses.
There aren't any plans for droids to enter people's houses or anything like that. they're looking into ways to stop people going afk all day by using the /sit /stand commands. This is to stop people camping places like the aakuan(?) caves and to stop jedi from deliberately staying afk in their houses purely to annoy BH.
From what i heard the idea is for something like if you have been afk for over 1/2 hour even witha recursive macro running you will be logged out. TBH there's no reason to be AFK for more than 1/2 hour, if you're going to the shops simply log out.I learnt the hard way when I first stated playing and went AFK in my house while I had dinner. When I came back I'd had the butt-slide form hell out of my house and into the middle of a pack of voritors and then on to the cloner.
If someone is ATK in their house decorating or chatting and a BH turns up there's no way what they should be forced out of their house and there aren't any plans for this to occur.

There's no way ANY player should be forced out their house regardless of AK or AFK.
I actually agree with that you said. You dont HAVE to be AFK in your house, but as I've said, it's a pure reflection of how peachy the BH community have it when this is all they have to complain about.
One and All,
What is really at issue is why does it take so long to fix Jedi bugs ?
The answer is found in how development companies like software work. They spend million and millions of dollars developeing something and getting it to market your top talent is making schedules and timelines to ensure the product is sound and ready for the consumer. once it goes to market do you know what happens next?
Answer? The mainteneance cycle begins, the bug squashers come in and try to fix the bugs left by or missed by quality control. The problem is the bug squashers are not your top gun or most expierenced talent, it's just the opposite they are not the top of the line . Wheres the top of the line talent? they're developeing the next expansion or working on a new project, this is just the way it is. The maintenance is left to less expierenced less talented people, this is not a uiniversal but it does explain why certain bugs , especially in the jedi profession take a long time to fix.
The jedi bug squashing problem is more in likely due to code that is imbedded or hard coded into the overall jedi system. As with any artist or software designer, whoever designed the sytem did it in a way that the maintenance folks aren't real sure how to handle, or they're not touching it because of the ramifications of "screwing the pooch" so to speak. So they will leave it alone until they have to fix it.
Jedi bugs are the last , because whoever embedded the code did it in a way that was fairly creative and some folks are haveing a difficult time understanding how they did it. Whoever did this is already designing beyond TOO or they may nolonger even be with SOE. To fix anything with jedi due to its unique nature will take quite awhile to fix. This is just the way companies run.

No one has said they dont want to be hunted.

I guess there will be Jedi who do this simply to get on a BH's 'dont hunt him' list. I've seen it in a thread as a tactic to do this, annoy the BH to the point he just doesnt waste time on you if he gets your mission in the future becuase he know's there's a 99% chance you will be in a private structure and AFK.Is this really such a problem? The main argument is it clogs up the terms and wastes BH time, but should we really care about wasting BH time? Their standard text book response to any Jedi complaint is "If you dont like being hunted by BH, drop it", or "You knew what being a Jedi was before you decided to be one, deal with it". Now if you ask me, this is the text book response that could be given in reply to their current complaint. "If you dont like the fact that not all of your marks are going to present themselves on a plate, drop BH and go grind something else in less than 3-5 days."The thing I find amazing is anything the BH has a problem with seems to be taken seriously and dealt with swiftly. The cor ACTUALLY asks for ideas to solutions etc which in turn puts some sort of official recognition that it is indeed a problem.I cant actually get my head round the fact that a Jedi who choses to be AFK in his house is taken more seriously than all the bugs we Jedi have to deal with on a daily basis. Ironically, this "FIX" what ever it should be is likely to be fixed before the Jedi speed bug which was confirmed as a bug a very very long time ago.I dont condone deliberately sitting afk in a house for days on end, and I dont do it. I simply log my alt when going AFK since I can switch without having to reload the client, then switch back when AK.From what I see, it's a case of he who shouts loudest is heard. Their corr certainly shouts loud.Message Edited by Calel_Haven on 10-12-2005 07:37 AM
The BH Corr is looking at ways of removing you guys from the terms if you're AFK house sitting. This changes nothing for you, hurts you in absolutely no way, but fixes a considerable waste of time for BHs. Why would you have a problem with that?

I dont have a single problem with that. My problem lies in the fact that Jedi have so many broken skills that have been in the Q to be fixed for months and months, yet here we are worrying about wasting a BH's time. Everytime they nerf a Jedi skill we have to re-grind in order to increase our chances of survival, there's no bigger waste of time than that.
It's a Correspondent proposal. That hardly makes it a done deal, nor does it give any indication of a timetable. Elite marks were first put on the BH top-5 by Wepps, almost two years before they happened. You're jumping to conclusions.
