funny how they where crying just as loud back then.

How exactly did hologrinding ruin the game?

Hell, I think it helped the games economy. I bought so many freaking resources its not funny.

If it ruined the game it ruined the game for those that didnt want to do it. Those casual players that never had time to do anything.

But then again this thread has nothing to do with hologrinding, it has to do with people crying for changes and making it from good to worse.

Examples patch 9, the super jedi nerfing. And it all happened because some idiot thought that Jedi should be diverse.

Now we have tank Jedi and Jedi with absolutely no force powers. Yepp real Jedish. Jedi is a joke in this game, it was once good all they needed was some defense. So people cried and we got defense but limited skill points and lost everything else.

WOOhooo thanks SOE great job, you gave us defense...

another priceless post by ElizaJedi. gotta love'em. Not for their content but for their conviction

I love how Eliza says the game is a disaster now but everything was great when it came out lol.

also if anyone knows that the forums are filled with the vocal few, its the devs. We dont accuratly represent the swg community.

I really don't agree with you a whole lot on this. Let me explain...

First, hologrinding. You get a profession, and master it...over and over again. Now, lets take under what someone was asking - "How did holo grinding ruin the game". They mentioned that it was good, them buying resources after resources. Lets take a look at the grind for a second. What is the grind exactly? For the combat class, it's run out, get into a solo group, and make millions. For the crafting class, it's buy resource after resource and craft. How does this ruin the game? Well, lets assume the first holo is a combat profession. You do the profession, and lets say you make about 2 million credits. Lets then assume that you have a crafting class next, so what do you do with those credits? you buy materials with them. Where does the money go? into the economy. Lets multiply this by a few thousand people all doing the exact same. What happened, and how did it ruin the game? more money was being put into the game, than being taken out. As a result with so much money, we have many many people who either 1. have tons of money, and can buy the overpriced items (armor, and some weapons), and 2. people who have no money, mostly newbies, who can't afford any armor. The split between very rich, and very poor is quite large right now.

Second, when holos were introduced - group hunts began to decline. All people did, all the time, was grind. They get online, they grind all day, they log off. This type of setup turned the game into more a single player game than anything else. Groups began to get smaller, and smaller. There was, and still is no role playing. We have tumblers in the cantinas, auto buff bots, and the like now. The only groups that exist are solo groups.

So did hologrinding ruin the game? yes, in my opinion it did. Why? to sum up what I said above, groups for hunting are gone, and now there is too much money overall in the game.

Now, lets look at the new grind. Yes, it's totally possible to fully do no grinding at all to get your jedi now...or is it? From another post I made long ago, one had to grind 300k every day, for 367 days to unlock all the needed trees. For powergamers, unlocking is not a problem, but for the casual gamer - with job, or school (at least that they care about), this is almost an impossible task. So how does this grind change from the old? You can now pick up solo-group missions, and put more money into the economy. You can now craft, buying resources, etc. Literally, not much has changed between the two grinds - except this one is much longer, and just as boring.

longer and boring you say? Yep, that's what I say. Now why? When working on a new profession, you get a chance to at least enjoy the profession a little. You get new skills to mess with, new things to craft - it is kinda fun, if you like that sorta thing. Now, the grind is much longer, and with the same profession.

This is why the hologrind, and the fs grind now are both ruining the game. Team play does not exist any more, outside the solo group. People are buying crystals and pearls for 10 million credits, people buy armor for 400k, people buy krayt weapons in the millions of credits. Where does this all lead us? More and more money into the system, items inflating by large amounts. A new player come in now, they can't buy much unless helped...and most people don't help newer players.

I hope this explains my point on this game. The game is too centered along grinding, and not around having fun. If the development team wants to make it so people have to wait a long time to get jedi, then make it a year wait, giving it to all the people who started a year ago. does this mean more jedi in the system? yep. Does this mean less work for being a jedi? sorta. Would this help fix the economy? probably due to the fact that people won't just take solo group mission after solo group mission any more. People would actually group to have some fun...maybe take off the armor, keep off the buffs, and all go for a healthy and fun battle on Endor, Dathomir, or even yavin.

Eliza how can possibly say the game was better when it first came out? It was 1/4 finished at best and had more bugs than an ant farm.

I was talking content wise, events, and support for the game. The devs don't even do story arcs anymore. Cause their all busy trying to make the criers happy.

Player hosted events - team hunts, guild hunts, etc were all much better in the beginning. I remember sitting at the starport, and people yelling wanting to be in a group going to Endor.

Support was also better in the beginning. Patches and fixes were daily, and we really felt the devs listening to use...at least somewhat. Now, I don't think the devs listen to anyone.

Content was broken in the beginning, and still broken in many areas now. Content seems to be what SOE is the worst at...unfortunately

TH lies like a cheap rug

If TH told me they were fixing a class, I'd know it would be last up for changes

TH is a half baked designer wannabe, if SOE releases the server numbers for active ACTIVE acounts I'd believe them a little.

Bh takes two weeks to master, woohoo and then u can get right to griefing a player whose been working for months to have a chance to play a jedi

Three accts - Cancelled - Thanks for all the fun

Oh and I will never buy another SOE product again, or SONYproducts or recommend them to anyone ever again
