Point taken Rhaspede.

I wish that the game had evolved as you described it.

New items to craft each month, new dungeons/planets to explore and new creatures.

Instead a huge portion of the development manpower and scheduling was devoted to create a giant xp/time sink in the form of Jedi.

Maybe JTL which was also being developed will be the answer to the content.

Here is what you see instead:

I get padawan now i have to grind 20k jedi xp with training lightsaber or am i missing something......

If your gunna start complaining now, give up because a master box is gunna be much tougher for you even at the top xp rate...........

Welcome to the REAL Jedi grind.

You now have to grind 20k of xp for a novice box.....if you're lucky only a couple buffs sessions.

Just hope no BH kills you before you reach your 20k XP cap, could suck to grind 200k with a training saber...

Do you see what I am getting at?

The whole games focus is grinding.

Are there people that arent focused on grinding? Sure there is.

What I am saying the devs spend a huge amount of time working on xp sinks. Could that be to keep people busy?

Personally, Id love for the DEVs to wipe the server. Have everyone start from scratch, and hide the FS system. That way, the people that DO unlock, will unlock in such a way that they will be some of the few and the proud. I mean, back in the day, I remember when one jedi in theed would attract hundreds of people. Now its oh jedi, another jedi, yet another jedi, oh look more jedi, theres 3 over there...Ive got a jedi, the grind is horrible. I feel bad for any new unlockers, you wont be a pvping jedi for months. When I mean months, I really mean never.

I have yet to play a MMO that didn't require hours and hours of mindless grinding. That is how they get paid and keep luring you to pay.

But how else are they supposed to keep Jedi rare if they don't make the xp requirements astronomical? I understand the concept behind making the Jeid path differnet and mysterious for each character, and I do wish there was a way they could do it, but how? Come up with 10,000 different paths based on quest completions or something, and then randomly assign a path to each of the 10,000 available character slots? That's the only way I could see that system working and I don't even know if that's feasible.

Jedi arent rare now with the xp requirements.

Permadeath is the only solution.

Either that or lower the experience required and balance them with a carbineer.

I agree it shouldn't be easy.

As far as converting my weapons and Combat xp into FS xp it's not hard at all. I just do my normal thing and in no time i'm all maxed out. I've already converted a lil more then 3 mil in Weapon and combat xp. I didn't sit there and Mindlessly grind away. I did the things I usually do.

It's considered a grind because they are too impatient to play the game. They want their goal instantly and will complain about any kind of time involved in obtaining that goal. I agree with the people that if you think it's too much work for you to do then just don't do it at all.

That is exactly why alot of people are mad, and quiting. Man my city is destroyed and my guild is disbanning, people I've been playing with for way over a year now (4 are jedi) because of what has come in patch 10. The jedi quit because they want more jedi to hunt with, none of them were in the FRS, they were strictly pve jedi, not the gank squad monkeys who call themselves jedi now, FRS xp or no, its still happening.

The other day I posted at how fun this patch was, and yes it is, but then I took a step back and took a long look at what is going on. You people who are ALREADY jedi have confirmed it, and some of you are actin a fool about it "oh oh oh I'm so uber, you didn't grind what I did, blah blah blah" people who didn't unlock will grind MORE than you ever did, and then once we reach padawan, grind exactly what you have in jedi, so don't give that arguement, it just got busted.

I'm not going to be one of the ones who quit because its hard, I will grind the xp needed, and I'll be one of the ones to piss off the jedi who rant constantly "too many jedi now" Its going to happen if you want it to or not, you 15 a month is no better than mine, or anyone else who plays this game, and everyone should have a chance to play jedi if thats what will be fun for them to play, thats just how it is, there are going to be alot of jedi, but I guess that will give the BHs something to do won't it? I'm just aggrivated that the devs said their ending the hologrind, yet introduced a grind that doubles what the hologrind ever was "we don't want you to play to be jedi, we want you to play while becoming jedi" ummmm..well...guess you need to turn down the xp conversion rate a bit because if you devs actually went into the game to look, the only people who are in cities are looking for doc buffs to go back out and grind more xp TO BECOME JEDI.

If JTLS is going to be the saviour for this game, I'd advise them to do something quick, because I think you're losing more players than you're gaining, but I'm sure you're already counting that canceled accounts aren't you?

At first i hated the wait, but you know what I am totaly for it.. Let people wait like us unlocked people had to pre 10..

I truely beleive this will help not burn people out The jedi grind is 100 times worse then the FS grind

You are completely missing the point. This game is easy, everything about this game is easy. There is no skill, there is only time investment. You are a Jedi Master? Congratulations, all that proves is you have no life outside the game. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but I'm sorry it is true. SWG is not a skill based game. Sure there are limited tactics, but for the big content and accomplishments in this game it is all about time.

And the strangest thing is: You might think based on what I just said that I have a problem with that. I don't. I don't care if it is easy. If it takes 5 years to unlock a Jedi, fine. But damnit, make it FUN. With a MMORPG this is hard for devs to do because the game needs to last for several years but it *can* be done. Heck, Worlds of Warcraft is designed so that questing is the most efficient way to level. Sure folks will start grinding quests, but at least they'll be interacting with their world. Swell, as a TKM I can grind 900K Weapon XP in a couple hours. Did I have fun doing it? No. I just clicked:

<TAB> <F1> <F1> <F1> <F1> etc. etc.

What was my motivation for killing all those quenkers? Some farmer has his garden overrun with these things? Give me a freaking break. I'm playing a Star Wars game. I want intrigue, good, evil. And yes, the mystery of the force. This game had so much promise. When I thinkabout the original FAQ I read on this game 4 years ago I was so excited. I've been playing since beta but I'm sorry, but I've run out of things to do in the game. I've got most of the themeparks done. I am overpowered as a TKM and can kill almost anything. How is this fun? After the combat balance, if it even goes well, we'll have a harder time killing the same creatures...

How the developers could focus on all this Jedi stuff when there are folks forming solo groups (did you hear me devs? SOLO GROUPS) as the fastest way to level. That means the content and professions are so broken, that it pays for folks to not work together to advance their professions. You have a massively multiplayer game where people aren't working together but yet you decided to devote 2 publishes to the powergamer Jedi. I was hopeful pub 10 would be quest based like they said. Well it is. You get a quest, then you grind for weeks, then you get another quest, and then you grind for weeks.

Sorry, I'm just ranting now. One-star me, I deserve it.

I have to kill 66k Mokks/Rancors/.. not fun
Being a Jedi is high end content, I already know most places and quests.
So I will see if things are a little easier in the next weeks.
The Fanbois think that it should be even harder to become a Jedi but if people don't have a high end content the game is over.

They say : go fishing, raid dungeons with guild, try other professions, explore..we have done that already and more..without the perspective of becoming a Jedi I would have no desire of logging in.

Luke has grinded with Whomped rats,ok, but he has not killed 66k Rancors, just one in Jabba's retreat.

You make a confusion between "NOT EASY" and "BORING".Pain and suffering is the way to go ? If I keep playing with a rusted shovel where you know (ouch it hurts!) may I have 10k Rancors less in my grinding martyrdom ?

If I had a choice, I would have chosen the new way to unlock over the old way any day. I'm sick of the whining I see here now. To those who think it's hard now, imagine permadeath. Too many mistakes and you completely start over as a jedi initiate. Yes, getting to jedi is hard. Yes, grinding jedi is hard. It's supposed to be hard. If it becomes easier, it will be nerfed that much more. To anyone that thinks the new system is too hard or too long, just be glad they didn't make it harder or longer like they should have.

Ive almost caped my FS refflex xp from swords unarmed and combat. It will be enough for lvl 1 vehicular control and most of lvl 2 so im ready for phase 2. I will also cap combat prowess. Its slow but necersary and its doable.

Unfortunately, the problem lies in the way this game is designed. We were all lead to believe that the quest system would replace the grinding of professions. The quest system however, is just another incarnation of mind numbing grinding. Obviously, the quest themselves are fine, but the xp requirements afterwards are the big downfall. Now, I still am in favor of making it difficult to obtain Jedi, but another solution has to be devised. What solution? I'm not sure, thats what the developers are paid for. Whatever happened to making the game fun, yet difficult? This is completely the opposite. Boring and difficult. If you ask me, they still took the easy way out. Slapped a few quests together and made grinding massive experience the main work.
