Thread: Saber Crafting
Small question about the crafting.
Let's say I have 4 pearl.
Pearl 1 - 120 dmg
Pearl 2 - 130 dmg
Pearl 3 - 140 dmg
Pearl 4 - 150 dmg
When I make my second gen saber should I use the pearls in a specific order to get max dmg or doesn't it matter?
Just a question

The new saber crafting stuff that suppose to come out in the next publish interests me, I have read off the StarWars.com site that Light Jedi's preferred to use natural crystals mined from caves. While Dark Jedi like to craft there own from rare materials so they can focus there hate into them while they are forming into crystals. Will this kind of detail in Saber crafting be included at all for the different paths once you reach the guardian level?
There is no guardian level :-)
But i hope it is not again based on looting...

Incorrect.
Jedi Guardian 4-4-4-4's.. Read the JediArchive 2 artical, they seem to get mentioned several times, so that if they dont exist now, they will. But anyway back in subject I'm talking more about something related to continuity then loot, I dont think they will ever change that part. Except that the individual cristals in the lightsabers will decay now instead of the Saber it's self.
From what i gather from the second part of the archives... Your light saber will decay faster overall. Let me explain my train of thought...
Current system:
You have a plain training saber, no crystals or pearls... It begins to decay slowly.
You add a pearl or crystal, making the same saber a gen 2 saber, reseting it to 100% condition.
Again, you add another pearl or crystal to upgrade, reseting it again to 100% condition.
And again...
And again...
Now you have a gen 5 saber, with 100% condition, using 4 pearls or crystals.
Pub 10 system:
Make your training saber (no crystals???)
Add a "tuned" pearl or crystal to upgrade... No condition on sabers themselves, so your at 100% still here.
Add another "tuned component to upgrade, but wait... your first "tuned componenet is at 75% condition...
Add another to get to Gen 4, and you have 1 50% cond component, one 75% component and one 100% component...
Gen 5 will give you 1 25% component, one 50%, one 75%, and 1 100%.
So, in conclusion, your brand new gen 5 saber, is only 2/3rds the condition of the old gen 5 you would have had pre-patch 10... And you will need more crystals or pearls soon.... Very soon...
Now.. If these "tunable" components are avialabe through jedi only quests, or given as rewards in good quantity and quality for the jedi trials, everything is ok... If they are random drops again, fate will smile upon the rich Jedi.

No you are incorrect and should read it again. There will NOT BE a Guardian level in the new Jedi system. And to answer your question, no one knows yet.

Asuph the archive states you SWAP OUT the tuned crystals, so you're not adding to anything. When the crystal you are using wears out, you replace it with a new one, so the concept of generations of light sabers is coming to an end. Whats replacing it will be a level of crystal/pearl. Lower level Jedi won't be able to tune crystals/pearls as well as higher level Jedi.

Iggep,
"As part of this new system, the level of skill in the lightsaber skill tree will provide schematics for higher generation lightsabers which have more damage crystal slots. No more will a Jedi have to worry about lightsaber decay. Instead the crystals and pearls placed within will take a random decay hit based on use of the lightsaber. When a pearl or crystal decays just tune a replacement!"
Taken directly from jedi archives volume 2.
It basicly states, your "tuned" components will wear out, rather than the lightsaber itself. According to this statement, you will have to replace, rather than repair, worn out "tuned" components. It also states that you will be able to add multiple "tuned" components to the same saber.
So unless they slow decay on these components to next to nothing, crystals and pearls will still be needed, but in greater quantity.
But again, if there are quests avialable to Jedi to gain "tunable" components, or they are rewards for the trials, it may be balanced out.

If you craft a 5th gen saber with and pearl/crystal reaches 0% condition you're saber still works but it probably does damage on par with a 4th generation saber.
I assume the intent is to give a jedi a decent weapon to use while seaching for a new pear/crystal to add.
Plus if you can constantly add/remove/change pearls or crystal, you can mix and match the combinations depending on what you are doing.
I'm not sure what to think of the new system yet, but I don't understand how this is going to improve the price of components. Perhaps they will increase the crystal drops and make them closer to pearls in value, which should lower the price of pearls considerably.
Also, reading the archives I have a feeling that Jedi will be getting pearls/crystal as a gift.
"All existing Jedi will login with the Padawan Trial completed as well as the item rewards that stem from the Trial"
I infer from this that we'll be getting something more than just our robes. Probably something to garner a little good will.
