Thread: The amount of Jedi in this game isnt what ruins the feeling of SW for me...

its people like this. Now, let me say, I dont have anything against him personaly(which is why I didnt show a name), but its this kind of person that ruins anything SW about this game for me. Why? We'll start with looks. Since he is a rebel(see necklace) this is a light Jedi, yet he's using a LS crystal named after a Sith lord which has a red tone. He's wearing a bandolier w/ weapon ammunition on it. A belt w/ grenades on it. Two robotic arms. No shirt. "Shorts". Casual shoes. Sunglasses. A snow hat.

But the truth of the matter is that isnt really what the problem is. How a person acts is more important than how they look. It is typicaly the Jedi dressed like this that are always found in a crowded SP dueling other Jedi, and behaving in the kind of manner that gives the Jedi proffession a bad name and makes the general populace hate them. There is nothing SW(relating to the movies or books) about a character like that, at least not one that is a Jedi. They look and act about as far as is possible to be from the way Jedi were portrayed in the movies we all love(and the way mature adults act in society). Now, I'm not saying I think all Jedi should go around in their stock robes, as I dont w/ my Jedi. But at least I still a look and act like one. Having your own custom outfit or look is one thing, but its easy to see the difference between a person who has their own style, and a person who has multiple robotic limbs and is only dressed the way they are to be l33t, in their never-ending quest to pwn the galaxy.

Again, dress isnt the real thing here. Its the kind of Jedi that constantly duels in the MO w/ their robotic limbs and completely un-SW dress challenging noobs to duels and all around acting like a spoiled child that ruins the feeling of SW in this game, not the number of Jedi. I dont expect this to be incredibly well recieved here, as at least half of the Jedi in this game are just like the one I've discussed, but that doesnt really bother me. I've said my piece. To those that are not like this, and try to actualy be a Jedi like myself, I salute you. We are a rare breed.

I feel what you're saying here. And yet in the end, he is expressing his individuality which brings back the element of spontaneity to this game.

I think he should be rewarded for thinking outside of the box.

Its not "expressing individuality" that bothers me. Its wearing/getting/doing whatever it takes just to be "l33t" so you can "pwn" people. When I see a Jedi that looks like that(and is constantly dueling) its obvious that that is all their doing, not being "unique". And lets not get lost from the point I was making. I'm not saying someone who dresses like that is a bad person, all I'm saying is that isnt SW.

OMG, call the Jedi Fashion Police!!!

Seriously, why do you care? Some people are always trying to tell others how to play their game. He is notinsisting that you or anyone else dress like him, why can't you have the common courtesy to do the same? Because it insults your misplaced and misguided sensibilities? Don't even get me started on what *you're* wearing...
Take a look here.

The SWG Forums. You will never find a more wretched hive of
catassery and buttmonkeyism. We must be cautious.

Eh, it's not "star warsy", but really... this is a game. It is not just a place where we can be what we want to be. Hell, many people think GL is wrong, and that is perfectly legit.. to each their own.

You make the game what you make it. Don't let stuff like this affect it. In the end, the only one hurt by you getting mad about is you.

For me its non immersive names like 'GMONKEYGABOO' or 'FUZZYLASERBRAIN' it reminds me that roleplaying is a lost art, and that some people are really mentally challenged.

imperial wookies, vehicles that drop from the sky, and 20 ft tall animals that warp into existance from a 2 ft tall pile of rocks are much more immersion killing than anything a player can wear or do....

not to mention jedi without access to uber perls is weak.

but hey, we all gotta b1tch about something

I agree it doesnt look pretty not real Jedi l looking but with all of our nerfs and the ballencing with other proffesions we need every edge we can get to be a little btter.SOE has forced Jedis to wear all that junk.I dont like wearing the garbage I wear, I dont look that bad lol but now a days its hard to get by with just a robe. You can do it dont get me wrong but theres a couple prefessions that are about equal to us in many ways. We continue to get nerfed so it leaves us with little choice but to use ever option we can =(

I understand what you mean, but you cant force people to RP or "act the part". Its just another fact of SWG life... which is why I try to spread the RP wherever I go

So basicly you're complaining about creativity and freedom... Well if a jedi looks ridiculous, that's his problem ! What bothers me most about jedi in this game is that none of them diserve this title now. They did before publish 9 and already a bit less before CU (especially because of defense stackers). Now we're just a bunch of wizards with glow sticks that can handle themselves a bit better than others in combat. We are no jedi, because the very concept doesn't fit a MMORPG. Liberty to dress and look like you want toDOES.
