Thread: Will we ever get hints from the DEVS on how to get the force sensitive slot?
Acually, I think they did once...
One of em' said something like:
"There are four things in these forums, based on these four things, the smart people on these forums should be ablt to figure it out."
I wonder if it's four things in the Jedi forums or all the forusm, lol.
Ok, dismiss that dumb question of mine...

"Point blank answer: No hints on unlocking the force sensitive slot."
Q, response to "Point blank question"
"We will not be choosing who is Force sensitive randomly. If we did this, everyone would be Force sensitive because they'd all try over and over until they got it."
Raph, April 2001
"We will not be letting players choose to be Force sensitive at character creation. If we did this, everyone would be Force sensitive because who's gonna turn down power if it's offered on a platter?"
Raph, April 2001
"We will not be making Force sensitivity be dependent on time invested. If we did this, everyone would be Force sensitive eventually."
Raph, April 2001
"Everyone can potentially become a Force-sensitive individual and eventually a Jedi."

"We're not disclosing how we plan to do this, but I do think that given these four pieces of information, all you smart folks on this board can puzzle it out--and these aren't new pieces of information, either, you've had them for quite a while."

Ok im noob to these forums and have spent several hours reading.
Can someone explain, simply but detailed to me about these 4 badges? and the hermit?
I only have faint knowledge about them and there are so many posts about people discussing it that it seems everyone else knows about it but me.
like Do i need to find a hermit ? can i just go straight for these 4 badges?
or at least can someone point me to the place i should start reading. Cuz to browse thru JUST THIS section would take weeks....
thanks for any help
Ok, so:
Everyone can do it.
Its not random.
Its not strictly time based.
You don't choose to be FS when you create your character.
Now then, not to be arrogant or anything, but according to an IQ test I took when I was around ten, I am a certifiable genius.
According to Raph and Holo, I'm a complete idiot.
-_-. Personally I think the answer lies somewhere in between, but I digress.
Lets see here.
"We will not be choosing who is Force sensitive randomly. If we did this, everyone would be Force sensitive because they'd all try over and over until they got it."

I believe that lastbitmeans that its not quest related- People are already trying to do all the quests and one person even claims to have done all but the most bugged quests. Likewise, randomly walking around and doing everything possible, hoping to unlock the FS slot, probably won't work.
"We will not be letting players choose to be Force sensitive at character creation. If we did this, everyone would be Force sensitive because who's gonna turn down power if it's offered on a platter?"

This is, in my opinion, the least helpful bit of information. You really have to twist his words to make anything useful out of that statement.
"We will not be making Force sensitivity be dependent on time invested. If we did this, everyone would be Force sensitive eventually."

So dancing in the cantina endlessly won't do it, nor will wandering around aimlessly.
"Everyone can potentially become a Force-sensitive individual and eventually a Jedi."

This, to me, is the most interesting of his comments, and potentially the most revealing. If everyone can unlock their FS slot -which is presumably what he means,- then we have to look at what everyone has in common.
Now then, most people tend to look at the game world as being that which we have in common, and this is true. However, I propose an alternate point of view: another thing which we have in common is skill boxes.
In order to determine if this is the key or not, I will assume that it is for the moment.
Applying the other statements to this conclusion yields the following:
It cannot be random, and therefore it cannotbe related to accquiring a random skillset, so the theory that 'upon character creation, a set of skills is randomly generated for you and once you get those specific skills you unlock your fs slot' is most probably false.
It cannot be time related, so the first thought that popped into my head- that you have to be a master for a certain amount of time, which would align with another dev quote,- is also most probably wrong. This also probably invalidates the 'XP' theories, which state that a certain amount of XP or apprenticeship XP unlocks the slot.
Its not deliberately chosen at character creation. Again, this tells us.... nothing -_-.
Its not something that will be eventually achieved by everyone, so...it can't be the use of specials or the expenditure of XP.
Could it be related to UXP? No, then combat classes would have great difficulty doing it. Could it possibly be that youhave to reach master brawler and master rank in as many of the elite brawler professions as possible? I mean, technically 'anyone can do it' could just mean your char is not 'flagged' upon creation as having the possibility of unlocking an fs slot. It doesn't NESSECARILY mean that any CLASS can do it.
Seems kinda flakey though, hmmm.
Could it possibly be related to the amount of UXP that you earn for other people? I mean, everyone uses items, right? Even a Teras-Kasi has the vibro knuckler, clothing, and POSSIBLY armor. Or the TKA could use meds, food, spice....
Thats a possibility, and it DOES fit in with the 'powergamers will get it first' statement, which I am mangling so badly because I cannot remember the exact quote -_-. It also fits with the 'Find a niche and live in it' statement, which I ALSO precisely remember.
Theres also the possibility that its related to how much you use your specials. Every class has specials, and it fits in with both of the above referenced statements.
It could also be related to the number of skill modifiers you have, or usage of every item that you are certified for.
Hell, since a 'checklist' was mentioned, it could be any combination of the above, or even none of them.
Ultimately I think its an excercise in futility. Its not so much a matter of figuring it out, as it is a matter of testing EVERY SINGLE THEORY ingame, and that my friends, is going to take forever.
