If we all had uber pearls, not only would the rest of the pop cry us into submission, but we would have scores of jedi that be fighting each other for hours. Yes. Somnething else needs to be done. But im not sure what.

For those of us who are not gifted with 4x 120 damage, -9fc, -0.29speed pearls, we wish we had some. The prospect of spending 1.8bill or tuning literally thousands for the 0.003% chance of one is not pleasant (see other stat post for a triple max tune using current loots). We dream of the day the Devs reintroduce premiums when they have found something sufficiently challenging to drop them off.

Well, has it occured to anyone else that whatever system is introduced is doomed to failure. Let me explain.

Scenario 1. Devs increase premiumdrops of something doable by small groups quickly. All the Jedi now, charge forth and loot and tune lots to create perfect sabers. This does two things - it means FRS competition is based on template and skill only (not a bad thing) but it also increases the power of Jedi in general vs the non-Jedi profs. Currently, top saber Jedi destroy non-jedi in pvp (assuming player isnt a goon) - if we were all "top" we would all be better. And so the alpha class issue arises again and Jedi need to be nerfed - or, as is more likely, other profs get a boost by the introduction of more powerful wpns to match us.As a side effect, there is no "stat" different between good and bad jedi anymore - everyone is the same and so the other profs which are balanced get balanced to the max jedi potential and so anyone who isnt max is dead.

Scenario 2. Devs restrict premium drops. Bespoke quests, 1 per player, or quests which can only be done either slowly (like village) or with very hard groups (DWB boss loot). Doing this means the market isnt flooded with pearls and there is still a gradient between Jedi. However, if its by quest/time, then all Jedi will become perfect after a fixed time. If its by DWB loot then the big guilds will ensure all their members get perfect stuff first. Either way, problems occur. And, at the end of the day, we end up in scenario 1 anyway.

Scenario 3. Devs restict premium drops to those in FRS - and, heres the catch, make it difficult for players in FRS to GCW dominate. This allows Jedi to all become stronger (alpha) but avoids much of the bitterness of jedi dominating GCW battles (as percieved by other players).

Whatever happens, I cant see us all getting access to lots of premiums in any new system and if we do, I believe it will break the jedi profession so we get nerfed yet again. As someone who has rubbish tunes, I hope the new system introduces premiums through a repeatable series of quests which take some time/skilll but are not "farmable" nor camped by big guilds

Yeah actually I was suggesting a repeateable quest that takes a while, something like the kerimatta (sp?) village quest in the kkowirr forest on kashyyk, takes a while to complete that quest, with maybe something stronger for the final boss (nk-nekrosis power scale). Let the quest be repeatable and/or possibly timed (it needs to be hard) Make the looted pearl/saber item non tradeable so only the looter can get it and they have no value for farming. Now to give others incentive to group with the jedi and help them with the quest throw in some intresting random loot, maybe the possibility of cas, some smuggler looter, etc. and you'd have a great adventure everyone would enjoy and benefit from... just my 2creds -shrug-

While I like your idea I just have one concern. If the pearl is to be granted by way of a timed quest (only done once per x amount of weeks or whatever) then I would hope the tuning of that pearl would be drastically better than tunes are currently at (good tune vs. bad tune). If I was to put in time and effort on said quest the reward would have to be worth more than avery slim chance of tuning worth keeping. The group incentive is also cool idea to get people to help.

well, since tuning is random, each and every Jedi CAN get 4 of these pearls, you just have to tune a few thousand to get em now. A lot has to due with luck too. I got 2 pearls to tune at 90dmg out of the first 5 I bought. Certainly these aren't capped for dmg/fc, but it's damn good compared to what other posters are reporting. My saber is in the high 500's w/ 96 SAC (can't remember FC) and I've only gone through 15 crystals (12 fair from the Cayon Corsair POI), and 5 good pearls I bought from an auction. I hope my luck holds up.

But, again, the capped pearls still exist, just you have to get a "good" pearl and hope the game rolls in your favor. What you will probably never get again is the Premium, Flawless, etc that gave you much better odds on this "roll".

You may be right.

Did you happen to notice though, I think it was ThunderHeart that said in the Stratics Dev Chat, that jedi with the perfect tuned premium/flawless pearls will get to keep them during the interim, while the devs work out a new system for implementing higher quality pearl drops......they get to keep them during the interim?!......this would seem to imply that they may either take them away, or as I suspect nerf all pearls into oblivion, as they have with many things in this profession. The rate at which Jedi are being powered down is infuriating, especially in light of the powering up of the rival class, the Bounty Hunters.

I firmly believe SOE's intention is to make the Jedi class the least desirable class in the game. They will never remove the class or stop players from pursuing Jedi, but the fact is many classes are equally as powerful if not more so than Jedi. There is currently so much Jedi hate in the game that I think the dev's are listening to them, and tansforming Jedi into a non-viable, asthetic character class.I know with each publish, I have a harder time doing things I was doing without trouble the publish before.

oh yeah definatly im sayin they have a guaranteed tune range of something like 80-120 dam -5/-9 FC and -.19 - .29 speed so you'd have pretty good odds of getting a great tune.

i say give jedi all the perfect BS they want but take them out of being able to go overt against non-jedi and make it so they only have the abilty to go oert against one another, and use their alts to pvp with us every-day joes

I am working on filling a second bag of crap tunedcrystals, good and fair.

I have gone through 33 pearls, mostly goods but some fairs.

My saber has 2 pearls and 2 crystals, stats are so sad I dare not mention them lol

Honestly, I think the "in the interm" comment was made cuz they will revamp LS as a whole, thus until they launch the new LS standards on the live servers, these current 700 clubbers will get to keep their pearls.

First it was Jedi was rare, hard to achieve, and powerful.

Grind, grind, grind.

Then Jedi were too few and the devs decreed a more simplified path. Holo!! Merry Christmas!

Grind, grind, grind.

Then came the CU and uberness was demoted!OhNoe! $$$$$$! RESPEC!

Grind, grind, grind.

Then too many Jedi roaming the plains, the cities, the skies... boo hoo! Nerf the pearl!

Grind, grind, grind.

I think I see a pattern.
