This article was written by a BH I know, and who wishes to remain annonymous:

I am a Bounty Hunter

Not a ganking griefer that only gains pleasure in ruining another persons day, but a member of an honorable profession whos goals are to provide balance to the Universe while making a little profit in the process.

I hear the flame-post starting already, but please read this whole post before formulating your responses.

I do not hate the jedi. Quite the contrary, I have the utmost respect for them. They are my prey, and my adversaries. I hunt them without prejudice, without emotion, and most certainly, without malice. I do know what they go thru, and how hard the grind is. I am another of those obsticles. I am part of your learning curve.

I hunt alone, or with 1 other. I am a MHB/M Pistols, a purist as it were. Even with the odds stacked against me, I find a way to win. I always find a way.

I am the ultimate in deviousness, the culmination of years of practice, planning and plotting. I am not the Bh that suddenly appears on your radar guns a blazing, but the one that you look up at with astonishment. I will follow my mark for days. I will wait and wait. You won't know who I am. I don't choose a a low level padawan because there is no challenge in it, and if it was just credits I needed, I can make them faster just doing Quenker missions, or Janta or Mokk. I don't extort or offer buyouts. I may be that Doctor that you want the buff from, that Artisan that has a new crystal or pearl, or even your guildmate. You never know, and that is the tool of my trade. Fear.

I don't want jedi nerfed. In fact, I want the opposite, I want them to be stronger. What glory is there in defeting the crippled warrior?

I hear and read what the Jedi write about Bounty Hunters. It takes a lot for me to stay true to my calling after reading some of the posts. You complain about everything. You claim that I know nothing about what it's like...well, by the same token, you most likely don't have a clue what it's like to be a Bounty Hunter. You don't understand the frustrations that can come from playing against a character. You complain about hate tells... you have no idea. I recieve hate tells from players that I killed a month ago. They threaten me with all sorts of things. I have been banned from cities, and I have been 'stalked' by players seeking revenge.

You see, I won't attack you when you are buffed and have your saber equipped. I won't attack you when you are grinding on Dantooine. I won't even attack you when you are afk. I will attack you as you are getting a mind buff. I will attack you when you are fightclubbing. I will attack you when you think you are safe. You are never safe. Ever.

I find that there are many in my profession that don't play by my rules, but don't judge me by that same yardstick. Some are indeed scum, and others are as respectful as I am. In my experience, Jedi and Bounty Hunters alike, have those silly few that are just out to be face-to-face PVP monsters. I am above that. Don't lump me with them.

Do I believe in player bounties? Yes

Do I believe in killing Padawans? Yes...but only a select few that are worthy of my attention.

Do I kill Knights and Guardians? Yes.

Do I gank or use PSG's? No, and often times I am not even buffed when I attack...people are less threatened by the unbuffed Dancer

My greatest feat to date too me a month of planning, and they still aren't sure who killed them. That is my reward.

Good post, but...

When have bounty hunters ever been considered honorable? Killing for money is not an honorable profession.

[Ì[[[[≡≡≡≡≡[F]]]°ggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg)

The Darkside of the Force is neither Evil nor Good, it is simply an aspect of the Force, just as the Light side is neither Good nor Evil. The Darkside is an offensive and powerful side of the Force, where the Light is defensive and mundane. One is reached through emotion, the other through the absence of emotion. Hatred, Love, and Passion are the most powerful of emotions. Embrace them and you will be able to draw upon the true power of the Force.

I have always said taking a mission on a jedi is griefing, whether directly or indirectly you are still griefing them. If you want to make friends buddy and share poetry your in the wrong profession, you may wanna try Dancer.

nice post.

On the subject of BH being honorable: you have to see it from their side of the table. They see themselves as the final enforcer of the law in the galaxy and the only force that can keep the jedi population in check. These are both honorable and make the game as a whole much more enjoyable to play if you look at the big picture.

Once again, people need to stop thinking about themselves and have some sportsmanship. If you don't llike the fact that the game has to be balanced for all players, then I'm sure there are plenty of 1 player PC and XBOX games out there for you.

I absolutely agree with you. You and I are probably the only ones in the entire game who see this basic truth.

As I always say, don't complain about being griefed, because you agreed to be "griefed" when you became a jedi. and

THAT is basic truth.

When I see a petition on the Bounty Hunter forums to eliminate xp loss then I will think the profession is honorable. I dont mind being hunted, I dont mind them make a buck off of me, I dont mind being there content, what I do mind is being penalized as well. Oh and by the way FOR THE LAST TIME THERE IS NO POPULATION CONTROL. No one can stop anyone from becoming a Jedi you can only make there gaming experience miserable. That is not population control that is griefing.

Sounds to me like he is. Careful where you get your mind buffs.

Apparently you don't understand the scope of this Bounty Hunter letter. He is, in my humble opinion, a very enlightened person because he knows of the balance that must exist between the Non-Jedi and Jedi population. Indeed, the Bounty Hunters gets credits for killing and making you lose xp. However, you must look at the grand picture of this. Not on your own individual picture and that goes for anyone that is a jedi.

Bounty Hunters are there to make sure that the Jedi remains in hiding and remains in small numbers. Yes, this is not working as intended. However, this one individual Bounty Hunter is working constantly to maintain this balance. Yes, I have been killed by Bounty Hunters and it puts a damper on my spirit but then I learn from this because I learned that I didn't train right. I didn't cloak myself from the sights of other prying eyes that gives me visibility by spreading my name among the general population and eventually reaching the ears of the Bounty Hunters.

I say that the Bounty Hunters are our Arch-enemies and will always be for they are there to keep us in check and we are there to keep them in check. This is a Balance of Power that is setted up perfectly...

Nice post... Amen to that.

However a word of advice from a fellow hunter to another... its best (as a Bounty hunter) to keep your nose out of the Jedi forums. While there are numerous valiant and upstanding, mature jedi, plagued with trollsand angry padawans the jedi forumsare. Hell, I have even been flamed when offering advice and strategies to get away and keep clear of bounty hunting. Its truly amazing the frustration that gets vented here.

As far as you jedi that dont see any honor in bounty hunting are concerned, let me ask you this, what do you find more honorable:

A) Getting ganked by 5 BH, who then spit on your corpse and laugh

or

B) Nearly falling out of your chair in suprise as you suddenly find yourself incapped, only to see a looming BH over your corpse (one that caught you completely off your guard), saluting you, and doing a bit of RP to at least make things more interesting than a simple /spit emote if nothing else.

or

C) You come to find that the same BH from B) above has brought a doctor with him to rez you to mitigate some of your experience loss, then gives you some pointers on how to avoid this fate in the future?

NO honor in bounty hunting.... I find that statement laughable. Just a warning to you jedi that dont show respect for your predators.... remember, that respect is a two way street. Bounty hunters can make your life easy, easier, hard, or just plain hell.
