Thread: Master Defender ?
I believe that sadly it depends on your Saber for PvP, Im only a master defender because my saber is rubbish - thus i can stay alive longer and make fights last.
It is great for PvE, I have really got into the tanking role and when we go on large guild events (DWB, Avatar, Old Research Facility) it seems that my guild have learnt exactly how all my defences and specials work too, so we really gel together well.
The only thing that stopped me soloing most High lvl bosses before Publish 24 wasmy saber, but now it seems that any Double elite lvl 88 or higher is unsoloable anyway so its no different for me.
A.I in PvP is only good if you know you have to last 30 more seconds before your backup arrives. Sadly its far too easy to be killed after using A.I now if you are fighting people that know what they are doing, its certainly a last resort and only to be used if you think you can incap your opponents before you use the last of your force up
A.I in PvE was scheduled to be changed so that if you used it, you would instantly lose all aggro and the Mob would go to the next threat in your group, I havnt tested this yet so cant confirm it

Think of AI as a "Bust your Buddy" skill now....

I am wondering that myself. AI is suicide PvP and worthless for tanking now, force aura and valor are NOT working as effectively as before, in other words, they NERFED them. This has been confirmed from testing with players, NPCs, and creatures, it was nerfed.

Read through the forums. in fact, read my posts. AI does not loose aggro like it was falsly reported.
hmmm...guildmate tested it many times and the aggro went directly to the next highest damage dealer or healer....

Really? Was it? Then explain to me, if you will, why I take the same amount of damage from CL 82 kaadus (approx. 92) post pub-24 as I did pre? Many publishes ago, around publish 20 or so a few Jedi on TC-Prime did a test using the same attack, once without aura, and once without aura, with aura enabled he took ~10 points of damage less. Now, how is that changed then how it is now?
The fact is this simple:
Aura/CoB NEVER was as effective in PvP as it is in PvE, and it never was as effective in high-end PvE as it is in lower end PvE. It is not intended to be an "I WIN" buff, it's just supposed to give you a defensive bonus.
Aura/CoB has remained untouched, improved versions still give you 500 more melee/ranged defense, decreasing the damage you take, and increasing your avoidance.
