Thread: Post-ToOW era prediction: Rifle-toting Jedi with ranged cybernetic arms

If you have Master Powers then you'll have +75 General Ranged accuracy. You'll lose a few points of that from the cybernetic ranged arms (they extend your range at a penalty to accuracy), but on the flip side a snare-happy BH won't be able to kite you.

Ditching the Jedi robers in favor of a set of socketed BE clothing loaded with Ranged Accuracy tapes would help in this scenario as well.

What other choice is there? Now that FR1/2/3 will be trumped by Snare, clearly every BH in his right mind will make absolutely sure he has Snare in his template.

Here's the only "balance" I see in any of this: A post-CU Master Powers wielder with lousy post-CU Pearls might have a chance now against a Master Saber who has pre-CU Pearls. This could be huge for the FRS when it comes back.

Your thoughts?

I've been thinking about this some more. With the Publish 24 changes, it does seem the person who can apply a snare and then kit at the longest range would win.

The drawback to this in Jedi vs. Jedi combat is an Enhancer user would have to close to 32m in order to reapply his Force Wave snare before he can withdraw to his max carbine or rifle range. When he gets to 32m, he could be snared by his opponent, as most Jedi dabble up to at least Enhancer 0002 (Channel), which also grants Force Ware at the 0001 box.

So now you'd have a case where both combatants are now equally snared. In this case, as long as the snare was applied outside of the 5m range, the Jedi who does the highest ranged damage (either via Powers or his sliced ranged weapon) wins.

If this is true, lightsaber use would be pretty much limited to PvE use. (Unless the Devs "fix" the NPC AI so they start spamming snares, too)

Its not just jedi that suffer, its melee and pistols as well. All rifle specials should be while prone and all carbine specials while kneeling. In a game you can't have superior range without any drawbacks.

if this works and I think it will as I am already a carb toting hybrid they will just nerf it so you can not use any force ability while equiping a rifle. This is the jedi control we have been waiting for

you cant win the fight

you cant run from the fight

you cant hide from the fight only thing left is to lose or not play

Ive got news for ya buddy. They are going to make it so you can only use jedi powers while holding a lightsaber. Toting a rifle around wont do much good if it negates your jedi skills.

the one change you will see that will usher in the frs will be the dreaded patch that jedi cant use force powers while having an equiped regular proffesion weapon in hand. this will eliminate ranged jedi pvp battles short of powers and saber throws.

No, it won't actually. Making it so you can only use force powers with a LS equipped won't change a thing. There is no penalty for switching weapons in combat. Simply make your force powers a macro that uneqips your rifle, executes the move, then re-equips yours rifle. Poof, the change means nothing. You will see no slowdown in combat, you won't even have to think about actually doing the equipping/unequipping. Trust me, I run duelist stance in combat while using an LS all the time now, and I can't be weilding the LS when I execute duelist stance.

I cant wait to see how long that macro takes with the lag, and the timer bugs.

Sometimes I have to hit a skill 7-10 seconds before it runs out when Im trying to re-apply it.

peng, that means no force aura, infusion, healing, or any other force macro you currently use while a weapon is in your hand...can u imagine getting sapped when you have all that off? Yes, you can just put the weaponson hot keys and switch back and forth, but it will be a real pain if you get kd'd and cant change weapons while down... and cant use kd recovery. I will almost guarentee that the devs will pretty much put it where you cant change weapons while kd'd or some type of hinderance in between switching weapons...and that takes up a precious spot for food or a macro key.

Not necessarily. I'm a mpowers and i use a pistol orrifle atleast 50% of the time. I've done some testing and with macros you can have it switch to saber and back without even noticing that you switched. It can still be done.

Macros FTW. By the way remember that one time in Episode III where Palpatine pulled out that Krayt Laser Rifle and started shooting at Yoda. Good Times.

well in the movies a jedi wouldnt have the need now would he. but in this game soon all jedi will gravitate to hybrid temps or surrender all the worthless jedi skills.
