The supposed current timeline is problematic since it is what is imposing many difficult thematic suppositions upon playerbase. Perhaps moving us 25 years or sointo the "future" of the Star Wars timeline would allow more flexability in concept and executionin the galaxy design. This movement to the future would allow more creativity and a universal "foe" for the player base to concentrate upon.

Very good point you make. That's the way forward for this game imo...but wait I hear the devs cry, no more movie tie ins

Edit: spelling

The vong are all over the place in this timeline. They talked about all the spies they had planted in the empire and New republic. If they were actually implemented in the game? Forget it, The devs would inevitably mess them up. They would follow the path of the jedi, really strong at first then nerfed to nothing more than a swordsman with a different costume...and some magic powers pulled over from EQ2.

Don't ruin the Vong by bringing them into this game.

If the timeline could be advanced without problems, I would love to see the Vong. Heck, I'd work to become one! The NJO series has been one of my most favorite and most hated series. A lot of things that went on bothered me, but as a whole I really enjoyed it. I can remember reading one of the finaly books and verbally yelling out "Just die already!" when Nom Anor would avoid death at every corner when I knew it was coming.

The beauty of going off of book based content as opposed to movie based content is that you have much more room to let your imagination work in a more positive fashion.

Here's the way I see the vong helping SWG.

  1. There is no timeline argument as the jedi academy is back on its legs under the leadership of master Skywalker.

  2. The jedi council is not formed yet and Luke is unable to form a leadership council for the jedi to follow

  3. Introduces an alpha race/class that offers more professions and cross-over technology to combat jedi abilities

  4. Layered content that is much more indepth and creates a common foe for all to share.

Please remember that this is only something of a pipedream, but I think the Vong would be an awesome addition to the SWG.

I appear to recall the empire being all but dead and most certainly not openly fighting the republic, nor the galactic alliance.

So... Just how would the GCW work?

I definately would not.
We have enough people complaining Jedi are out of the timeline, adding this would only make it worse.
Besides, they're a species, not a profession. You can't have the choice of choosing the "I win" species, or being normal.

If the Vong show up, I'm gone.

They should never have been in a starwars product of any kind, ever. That whole storyline is just a sad testament to the fact that litterally anyone can publish a StarWars book, and even sadder that some starwars fans are rabid enough to swallow anything with the LA logo on it.

They are from the Expanded Star Wars Universe (The New Jedi Order Novels).

I would rather see the timeline shifted to Rise of the Empire Era, with jedi power restored (far out ofscale from normal professions)and jedi fighting among themselves (light jedi against dark jedi) and this crapy BH/Jedi relationship removed once and for all. It would make more sense to me.
