Thread: Who would argue the Vong as an alternate alpha?

The supposed current timeline is problematic since it is what is imposing many difficult thematic suppositions upon playerbase. Perhaps moving us 25 years or sointo the "future" of the Star Wars timeline would allow more flexability in concept and executionin the galaxy design. This movement to the future would allow more creativity and a universal "foe" for the player base to concentrate upon.

Right now there is an advanced scout force of the Vong that have been taking a look-see at some planets in the far outter-rim. So there are Vong in the galaxy atm.

As far as the books indicate the Vong were in the galaxy even when Anakin was just a Paddy being trained by ObiWan. From the NRO based 20-25 years after "A New Hope" the Vong had indeed been in the galaxy for 50 years.

Well I do remember Han having a one piece suit made out of carbonite but it weighed a ton. Still it didnt require any ironing and was very wear resistant.
Thanks SOE! The CU and NGE gave me my life back. Thanks! Bitterness is the taste of love lost, a tear of acid that burns the heart.

While I absolutely support the idea of other "Alpha" classes, I think there are much better, more canonical, more "Star Warsy" choices than the Vong.

Adding the VOng according to the EU in terms of an aplha class would be ALOT more powerful than Jedi, as they are immune to the force as they are outside it and have a high threshold for pain

It would be a very fun idea. But it would definitely take a lot of time to lead up to something like this.

To make that according to what the books state, the Jedi would become a beta class, and the Vong would take over as the only alpha....Like someone said above, Imune to the force, ect. The logical reaction of the DEVs would then be to nerf the hell out of the Vong, making in unrealistic(according to the EU), and we'd end up with 0 alpha classes

The Yuuzhan Vong wear vonduun crab armor, a living carapace that protects a warrior in combat that can even temporarily withstand blaster strikes and lightsaber blows. As the war against the Republic and the Jedi escalated, the Yuuzhan Vong began engineering new weaponry specific to their hated foes: such as the vicious voxyn creature that can relentlessly hunt down Jedi Knights....

Meh. Immune to the force doesn't mean the force suddenly stops working. It just means that you can't affect THEM with it. Anything that affects yourself or your environment would be ok.

Won't stop healing.

Won't stop blocking.

Won't stop defense.

Won't stop lightsabers.

Powers Users would be almost completely hosed though. Force Throw and Improved Force Throw would be about the only things you could do.

Enhancers would be kinda hosed. No roots or snares.

Healers would bea little bithosed. No Sap or Shock.

Remember, the Vong are in this timeline. In fact if you stayed true to the books they would outnumber the jedi in this time period...by ALOT. Also, they are part of the force just they exist in a different realm of it. Anakin Solo proved this when he died in Star by Star. His perception of the force changed just as he was dying to include them, hence his ability to take out 30+ of them on his own.

But my original opinion remains, I don't want to see the Vong in this game because SOE has proved it is incapable of staying true to any aspect of Star Wars.

Not that we're totally concerned with timelines here in SWG, but to introduce the Vong as a species invading the galaxy at this point would throw too big of a change into the game. Plus, to another poster's point, the Empire was basically reduced to a sector of the galaxy by the time the vong invaded at least what, 20-25yrs after ANH?

You would essentially have to change the GCW from Imperial / Rebel to Vong / everyone. I think right now the player base would be happier if we advanced the general timeframe in the game to that of ESB vs. that far out.

But to your point - Nom Anor is in the galaxy somewhere....watching....
