Thread: Shameful... (Read this and SUPPORT the devs)
I for one do not hold the devs responsible for every problem in this game. Why you might ask? Well it's simple, they just do as they are told by their management. They are given limited time to add new content, prof changes & changes to the game general mechanics. When you place a time limit on releasing such complex changes, you WILL get bugs. Over time these bugs have accumulated and overwhelmed the devs.
From personal experience, I know that programming is complex and time consuming. I can only imagine how enormous the challenge is in working on a game of this scale.
I would ask everyone to quit with the attacks on the devs. They have bosses too, just like we do in work. They need our support and positive, constructive feedback. I honestly do not see how attacking them is going to fix anything or help anyone.
Before PM'ing a dev, attacking them on the forums or generally giving them hassle, stop and think of this:
1. They receive more PM's in 1 day than you have since you joined the forums.
2. They are not in charge of game developement. Their managers are.
3. They are players just like you.
4. They hate the bugs too, but are not allocated the time/resources to fix them.
5. They invest significant personal time into this game and community.
If you are thinking of flaming this post, then please don't bother. I have already seen what you think in the many other threads on these forums.
Tiggs, on behalf of the decent players in the game, I would like to apologise for the unwarranted criticism you have recieved. You have our support. We would however appreciate direct communication from the management team in charge of development. If you can, please pass that request to the relevant people.
If you are reading this, than thank you for all your efforts.
We have all the right in the world to be very bitter, especially moreso than these post-CU Jedi who are complaining about Jedi who grinded full templates in a week, and the pre-9 Jedi moreso than *anyone*, since they went through perma death, Jedi TEF, skill loss, experience loss, and 20 person BH ganksquads. This is something old timer pre-CU Jedi can atleast attempt to relate to, I've lost lots of experience from PvE and BH deaths, but with as easily as Jedi have it made now, post-CU Jedi can't even relate to what it's like to lose experience every single time you die, period. The only know what it feels like to be ganked by Bounty Hunters. Imagine losing 200k experience every single time you died, then another 300-400k or so when a BH ganks you. It adds up, a hell of a lot faster than just getting ganked by BH's.
Without being rude the fact is this:
We're tired of hearing "no new info on this", we know that much. We want actual answers. It has been nearly a week since we were promised answers on the top 5 issues, and still nothing...nada. It's not something I complain about daily. I spend more time playing the game than I do posting, but it's about time we actually see some info other than "nothing new on this yet".
That's my feedback, it wasn't rude, it was very constructive. Pure facts were spoken.

You're assuming too much about some of the posters who troll our forum.
I'm in general agreement with your statement that the Devs are just following orders. The only hesitation I have comes from the occasional posts written by (or fanfest quotes attributed to) Blixtev. After reading some of those, I get a little confused about his role and whether he has an anti-Jedi agenda.... is he a heads-down programmer merely following orders, or does he sometime wear the Designer hat and thus influence the orders he receives?
In any case, the real criticism should be leveled at those who are officially responsible for the game's design. Tiggs is not one of them. Blixtev is not one of them. Neither is the Jedi Correspondent nor any current or former BH Correspondent.
The forum trolls you're calling shameful won't be bothered to alter their posting behaviors, other than maybe to stop by and call you a "n00b" or some such nonsense. These are the very same people who are showing off at the starports and lair stealing (at least that's the case on my server anyway).
I do not agree with attacking the Devs or Community people personally, however, there is one problem. There is a singular lack of communication between them and the playerbase. This is not just the Jedi forums either, but ratherthe whole game. Problems with the game go unresolved for long periods of time, player concerns are rarely addressed and almost never in a timely manner. The preferred fixes normally are non-sensical bug fixes (a snare on a first strike ability?) which are really nerfs. They almost never raise a class up until it's been nerfed to uselessness, and then overcompensate.
Much of the current situation arises from this. The Devs, themselves, foment this by rarely saying whether something is working as intended, is actually broken (unless caught by some pretty smart players), and rarely provide any of their views for direction of the game. If, during the whole SL patch day fiasco, 1 Dev had come in and said, "We're looking into it, no it's not intended to be 2-3 shot kills on melee." or even, "This is the way we want it to be and here's why." it would have been a lot less painful and caused less grief.
The silence is not golden in this case, it is strife causing. It appears they want the players of different professions and areas of the game at odds with each other, bickering over everything.
I doubt they really want this, but it is what is being fomented currently ![]()
I am so glad to see the number of constructive posts today regarding peoples thoughts on how to fix this. Instead of screaming and name calling, today more than normal, has brought about some well thought points. Whether you agree with them or not, people seem to be looking more at our community and how to fix it without self serving ideas and rants.
That being said, it is my opinion that though many of the rants in the mentioned post are emotional and immature, the general idea is correct. I have watched both Tiggs and Garva, more recently then ever, make statements that are degrading and shameful. The responses they give almost always involve a threat, usually involve sarcasim, and rarely involve a constructive information. If you compare the content and mood of posts from TH to that of Tiggs or Garva, it is undenyable that TH is concearned with the good of the business where as both Tiggs and Garva are concearned with matters less relevant to SOE, SWG, or the customers. Look and see. It is night and day in comparison.
so.... explain, then, why this game is:
- the buggiest of the hugepopular MMORPGS (DAoC, EQ, EQ2, WoW)
-- and this is 2.5 years into release!!!!- has the most poorly implemented pvp system (granted EQ/EQ2 just don't even bother)
- has the most class issues of any huge popular MMORPG

The frustration comes from posts Tiggs makes, like LAST Thurs' "I will check on these and get back on monday" Well, guess what? Its NOT monday anymore.
Its things like that, that we have seen for the last year or more. Its the buggs that havent been fixed sense BETA. The total LACK of communication about our biggest BUGS. The obvious lack of knowledge of HOW our profession works, or really DOSENT work. The condescending nature of their posts that TELL US WHAT "WE WANT" but we dont, and never asked for. The adding of 'content'that breaks more things in the game than it adds. The no light at the end of thisloooonng waded through tunnel of darkness and SILENCE.
Right now we have nothing, and THAT is the biggest problem and why people feel the need to speak out.
