This is the topic I posted when this goodness was in beta and I was having fun testing it, so anyone have any tips now that its in live?

***Edited for push to live***

Alright, this is yet another topic about the snare changes, but it is to the large post count Jedi saying they don't have FR in their templates and never have problems with MCM/MBH. I don't have over large problems with them myself, but I admit it is because of my ability to pop on FR and keep next to them while cycling the three imp. attacks. Without it I do not know what I would do, and I am not of course talking about the ones that stand next to you and try to go brute force.

First lets set down a set of givens in what I will call the ToOW system:

1. A MCM/MBH can keep you perma snared.

2.It removes your current speed buff.

3. It then reduces your movement speed with the same mods now in effect.

4. A MCM/MBH can have a range of 80m.

5. Jedi have a max range of 32m.

So what is it exactly you will do to counteract this?

If you are in a urban area where you can move to cover slowly while soaking up the damage it is not neccesarily a large problem. But if you are out in the open (as is most often the case, for me at least) it is a major problem. When snared under the new ToOW system you move at a walking speed. With our 32m effective range this gives a buffer of 48m to attack from, if a person cannot stay within a 48m range of a slowly moving target they have no business fighting in the first place.

For those with cloak it is not a major problem, but not everyone has cloak and many complain about those that do already. So what exactly do you do to counteract this? And remember if it involves saberthrow/Enh snare/root or food/burst run I don't want to hear about it. Burst run takes the same hit as FR, and besides having a 32m range the other options do not come into effect as you can be paralyized and then snared again, never even giving you a chance to use them untill they move safely into their buffer zone again.

...anyone, please? I really would like to know.

When the BH has a 64-80m range and there is NOTHING a Jedi can do over 32m, and the BH keeps the Jedi rooted without ever coming within 32m, then how can that work?

That is the problem, the permasnare is an instant "I Win" button now.

Well, if he can consitantly keep you rooted he knows the game better than you /shrug.

Seeing how devs have basically been saying that. Yet they are the ones that originally put Jedi in. And Lucas Arts is marketing this game up and down about becoming one. Cant win.

I agree in part. This orignail post is talking about makeing it fair to fight the bh. What about those who don't wish to fight. And are assigned a tef as soon as the bountyhunter attacks. They are saying if the bh attacks you you have no choice but to fight. You can't walk faster than them and thats what will happen with this snare. Takes 2 min 30 secs to lose that bh tef. So its fight or die then you have to deal with the kitein issue. So yah it looks like they don't want us in the game.

I'm with EFREAK. I haven't been hunted yet. But when they snare or root me, i will be snaring and rooting them back, as well as pulling out my 520-1200 dmg Trando Rifle with 68 SAC and laying into them until i can get close again.

The good BH's aren't going to run out of range from your crappy sabers ... with 8k energy resists and 75% armorbreak sliced armor its just gana be snare you and throw their poo's at you watch your life tick away as the drag a jedi kite around ...

People who say they won't have a problem with this change are full of it. The way people were able to counter snares/roots is by closing the distance between the attacker. This is near impossible without at least the ability to burstrun.

Here are some tactics you can pretend will work in every encounter:

1) Use LOS (line of sight) to your advantage

a) Trees, Hills in a wide open area can be used to make sure the attacker can't continue to attack

b) In cities hide behind buildings to force the attacker to come to you

2) Only other way will be to Mez a player with Stasis and hope you can incap them the moment you attack

That is the only way you are going to be able to play as melee. Rooting or ranged k/d(for a Jedi) is also an option but you have to first be in range of 32m and then you have to assume you have to close the gap between you and the attacker before the root or k/d run out (assume you have a snare). Then after all that if you can't out right kill the player in a couple of hits, forget it starts all over again. Yeah I have no doubt I'll be able to kill unskilled PvPers but I have no doubt with these rules experienced Ranged players will basically negate the Melee professions.

What I find ironic is the devs nerfed Ranged in PvE, they made cl 80+ mobs very resistant to any crowdcontrol. But what they lost in PvE they are gaining hand over fist in PvP.
