From what I understand, If I hit my unlocking profession after Publish 9 hits live, I will receive notification, but I cannot play my jedi character until Publish 10.
My main will be thejedi, insead of the second slot, once I can play it, right?
What I want to know is do I open up my second slot at that point even though I can't play my Jedi, or do I have to wait until Publish 10 until I can play my second slot too?

Mostly correct. You wont be able to create a 2nd character until publish 10, and that 2nd character will be the Jedi, not your main.

I thought that between 9 and 10 and on, that your main becomes the Jedi. You won't be able to play as a Jedi or create your second Non-FS character until after Pub 10.

Think about it. Publish 10 hits. You're happy, you got that message. You log your main in after the patch. Suddenly, you're no longer a TKM, because30 points got dropped so you could have your force sensitivity skills allocated and a random novice force skill.
That would be silly, and I'm sure you'd agree. I'd personally sendthe devsa barrage of insults if they randomly chose skills on my main to just dump.
No, when you create your new character, you'll get asked to allocate 6 lines of FS skills, and choose 1 novice box.

I would guess the path of least resistance for the Devs, you get your second char, not force sensitive, and neither is your main. However they did state you get 'credit', whatever that means, on your the amount of progress you made, again, whatever that will mean. That 'credit' is clearly force exp, so you could purchase force skills with it on your main. If you unlocked between the publishes, I am guessing that means you could be given enough force exp to get a full jedi, or at least be at the padwan trials phase.

If it's as you say, then that's a complete relief. I can unlock my Jedi slot. Then while I wait for Pub 10, I can get my Main back to where I want him (Droid Engineer/TKA). I'd like to see some clarification on this though. I've been under the impression that my main would be mothballed until Pub 10 if I unlocked between 9 and 10. (Since I wouldn't want to develop him until I could do it as a Jedi.) I think a lot of people are under this assumption as well.

There is some internal reason why they have turned off the physical unlock, but jedi unlocked between 9 & 10 are no different to current unlocks, only catch is you can't actually create your jedi until pub 10.
Its 2:30am, I wish I could find a quote, but I'm too tired to crawl the boards for quotes.Use some logic here. Tell me what you are going to do to the devs if they remove skills from your main? No, the new character will be your jedi, and yes, you will be a jedi. No ifs or buts. Check JustG's state of the game letter too, I think some of it is in there.

Exactly... what I want is to have a Jedi and a BH, but I'm not going to start the path to BH after I unlock if my main is going to become a Jedi.

Best quote I can find without really trying is in Arjun's report from Fan Fest.
Note that it doesn't say which slot, but do you really think they're going to remove your BH skills from you?
*sigh* well actually it does reference main there doesn't it. Put it this way, I will let the devs handle any backlash they get from removing skills of peoples mains if that is the case...

The problem with that is after pub 10, any new 'second chars' would not be force sensitive, just normal chars. It would be like you unlocked with the quest system then. I am guessing you get the credit on your main if you unlocked or not. They could put a jedi conversion process in there for the first few days after the publish so any new second chars can be a jedi. That is extra work though, and I am guessing the path of least resistance for them, so just do the same batch for everyone, unlocked or not, and give them however much force exp they should get. Any new chars created start from scratch.

Are you aware that you have to spend 24 skill points on force sensitive skills in the new system to be a Jedi? In the quest system, you will gradually build these 24 boxes up, dropping one of your normal skills one at a time... for those of us who are jedi or unlock before pub 10, we wil be at minimum Jedi Padawam's, with 30 skill points used already. That requires mass alteration to your main that you were not aware you had to plan for. I have seen TH say it. I don't know where though.
If I'm wrong, and I don't believe I am, then god help the devs.
