Thread: Did you REALLY work harder?

I posted in another thread and it made me start to think about these complaints from some, not all, of the jedi on this forum. I am very close to being full template and its taken me 6 months, but I don't consider what I have been doing as work. I wanted to play as a jedi as did all of you, no one forced me and I knew it was going to be a tough grind but for me it was end game. I had mastered all the 32 professions in the game, done almost all the quests, had a ton of fun with JTL and finally decided that I needed to do what i wanted to do since I logged in almost 2 years ago, become a jedi.

There are players out there that have mastered most or all of the professions and have 140+ badges but never wanted to be jedi. And what about the people that have done that and spent hours and hours testing new patches in the TC, or have been a correspondent. Do we deserve more than them just because we had a long grind for our chosen profession?

Flame me all you want but the bottom line is whether your a prepub 9 that took a year to grind or a post CU that took a few months or shorter we don't deserve anything more than anyone else that has devoted as much time to the game. We will already get to keep our second character slot which no one else will get and that is enough for me. Stop wasting Bac's time with posts about how we deserve more we don't.

I think it's the feeling of having something you worked for, no matter how hard, taken away, that has left many dissapointed.

It's disgusting how SOE has treated their veteran players on the whole change of game.

I agree, complaining won't do any good, but there's no need for people who have been taken advantage of, to just pretend like this all ok, because it's not.

Steve Sullivan – Director of R & D for Lucas Arts Entertainment.

“I think George has always seen movie making and video games to be very closely related…..he cares about telling stories, and these are two different mediums in which you might tell a story”

I think we were able to “tell” better stories, when we had player interdependency, and multiple, variable classes.

I agree with every word of what you have said, and I am not saying the community hasn't been wronged, I was simply commenting on how badly some jedi are acting in the wake of all this.

We honestlydon't deserve anything, as it was our choice to become what we wanted. We had the choice to become a Jedi or something else. As I see it now, I don't think others will be able to change skills and templates and all like we have before.

I'm proud to be a Jedi

"Work harder" I guess is in the eye of the beholder however:

Did I do it with more risk? Yes

Did I do it when we could be attacked by anyone opp faction? TEF? Yes

Did I do it when if you died you lost a skill or life? Yes

Did I do it when if you made a saber it had the chance of goin poof into thin air? Yes

Did I do it when it was a penalty to show-off or ignite a saber in front of anyone? Yes

Did I lose XP or skills for just "Dying" to any bug, server crash, incap death, just freaking not paying attention? Yes

Was there a Risk vs Reward system? Yes --

All in all each system since pre patch 9 was diverse and different as could be... but most of us adpated pretty well , that alone took skill lol.

But most of all I can at least just "Know" I did it... screen shots and memories serve that well too.

All in all it was fun and hard...I will miss it but we can all at least still remember it on our own.

(how many of you fell asleep at the keyboard?) lol---I know I did...lol

hehe yeah i have fallen asleep at my keyboard a few times while grinding. usually i would wake up and think oh crap look up and see the login screen, log back in to find a hilarious conversation in my groupchat where my group made fun of me for falling asleep again shortly before kicking me lol.

but yeah I know we went through a lot but in the end that was our choice.

No one REALLY worked for anything. This is a game. You all played to get where you are. While getting a full-template may fit one of Webster's definitions for the word "work,"I know of no working arrangements where the person working is paying for the privilege to do so. If you do, I've got a few businesses that would love to hire them.

If you think you have accomplished something other than having a good time (or I guess raising your blood pressure in other cases), you live a sad, SAD life. I've posted it before, if you think you put some quality WORK into your template, put that on your resume the next timeyou apply for some real work and see how much credit you get for it.

I didn't work hard.

I grenade grinded post CU.

I ran with spin groups and got millions of xp in single sittings.

Do I have any sense of entitlement? No.

I think its more on this level... do they deserve to be a jedi NOW, that it requires no effort to be, when they didnt' want to be a jedi when it required TONS of effort. ask yourself that question, why suddenly play a jedi character, when you haven't had any interest in it to begin with. put 2 and 2 together.

Anyone who's truly done the solo grind for FS or Jedi knows...yes...we really did work harder. I will take the robes and Elder abilities as compensation though - it was apparent that we'd never get FRS back and I was getting bored with my Jedi anyway... got full temp mid-summer after a LONG grind that began in 2004....

There were many who would have been interested in Jedi had it been more accessible. As it stands, the village system is a great deterrent (minus the double xp that is) for those wishing to become Jedi.

Anyway, I could continue, but your opinion seems too contrary to mine and this would probably result in a much longer conversation than it needs to be.

See it's not up to us to decide who is worthy of playing jedi. Maybe to them the risk wasn't worth the reward or they didn't like the idea of forced pvp. Any way you look at it, there is no reason for us to get angry about it, ultimatly it isn't up to any of us.
