Let me just say that I am a post Cu Jedi.....I know I know /hiss /hiss, and yes I did most of my grinding on Kash, but never AFK, just in Jedi spin groups (in retrospect it would have ben faster to simply do spin groups on regular missions with BH deaths and all)

I am now a Mdef MLS Heal 4020 on my way to Heal 4040 for the Sap to counteract what I am here to talk about....needing to run

I was attacked twice last night both times by CM's. I ended up running from both and the first was cool but the second got me thinking......Seeing that I enjoy PvP I stand my ground and slug it out for a bit, I use what sap I have ware him down but I know longer have Channel so there is a bit of a cap on how long I can maintain a fight. So at about 15% force I make a break for it, I KD him and run, make it to the starport and launch into space. Ok Im safe now and here comes the Hate "NOOB, PUNK, JEBAY, COWARD" and my personal favorite "Go tell your mother you just ran from a 12 year old" Like I couldn't have guessed that

Well i wasn't going to have this conversation with this like punk, but im seriously asking the question here; What could I have done difrently? The relative strength of his position and the relative weakness of mine seems to be a matter of game mechanics, not skill. I have tuned hundreds of pearls and crystals and my saber Dps is 402.67......not the greatest. This "person" is no better at the game then me, he simply is a member of an unbalanced profession. His advantage comes not from skill, enhancements, attachments, preparation, or experience....so why am I expected to accommodate him with a fair fight when the fight wasn't fair to begin with?

theres nothing you can do. run is pretty much the only thing unless you have a perfect saber. soe refuses to fix us so we suck. we just have to deal with it i guess. but the trend is nerfing us so we cant really fight the bh, just die....

The best thing to do? Choose a different template. I don't mean to be rude, I assure you, so let me explain.

The game has become rock, paper, scissors.

Essentially what has happened is that FOTM Jedi template (MLS + MDEF) is especially susceptible to the FOTM BH+CM template. They have no self-buffs, snares or roots, or much ranged attack. BH/CM is at such an advantage because they have attacks at both melee range and further away. At your range, they can apply thyroid rupture et. al. They can then run to THEIR range and lay on the damage.

Now, take a Jedi with a reasonable amount of Enhancer or Powers, and all of a sudden, that advantage is lost. You can root and snare them, as well as attack from range. All of a sudden, their advantage is lost and they get stuck in a healing loop.

So look at your template-- what do you want to do with it? MLS/MDEF is a rock-- hits hard and is very hard to break. But it's also slow and susceptable. to being restrained. BH/CM is the paper. It has the skills neccesary to be very effective against MLS/MDEF. But like the rock, the paper has it's weaknesses. It can be beat by other templates, sometimes very easily.

MLS/MDEF will kill most stuff in PvE, but in PvP it has it's Achilles heel. So questions what you want to do with your Jedi. A MLS/MEDF will be good against most templates, including most Jedi templates, but it will always have that weakness against BH/CMs. A Powers template might be great against those same BH/CMs, but it will have a much different sucess record against thsoe same MLS/MDEF templates.

So pick your battles. Know your strenghts and weaknesses, and act accordingly, or change your template to get certain strengths and lose certain weaknesses.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Defender vs MCM really isnt that fair. Defender is meant to stop attacks not deal with DOTs.

But one way you can protect yourself is going healer 4400 to get rid of flame damage. Seeing that there are doc buffs to protect vs poison n disease also drinks to get rid of them. The CM depends on their DOTs as their means to winning.

I wish I knew how to say this better: There is no such thing as a fair fight. Fighting is all about having advantages over your opponenent. Any and every advantage you can. Skill, equipment, power, numbers . . . whatever. The BH's biggest advantage is choosing when (and even if) to fight you. A good BH will pick the best advantages he has. Don't go for fair, go for win vs don't play. That is always your best option!

Quitters never win, winners never quit, but those who never win AND never quit are idiots.

He came to kill you. He failed. You win.

BH are taught to taunt Jedi so they will put themselves in a vulnerable position. Don't fall for it. You hung in there until you saw the outcome and then used your brain. Nothing wrong with that.

The comments about food and other tactics may prolong the fight in the future. Best of luck to you...

I hate to say this. As you should be able to pick any temp you want and be able to be viable. But the fact is. If you were a master healer/master enhancer with little or no saber/powers/defender, you should and will not be able to pvp. Therefore, although you have chosen the temp that you want, you will not be able to survive most pvp encounters. Now your saying "MLS and MDEF should be a pvp temp". That should be the most powerful pvp temp. However, the difference is going to lie in your use of your skills. A mls/mdef against a mbh/mcm had better get in or get out quickly! Because no force run. No channel. Or just relying on healer is prob not going to get it done.

Several people have posted (including myself) some tips on pvp'ing. Maybe you should look at them and see if there is anything that you can add to help you out. However, I myself have forgone mastering defender for the very purpose of getting enhancer 3002 for the versatility it gives me with fr2 and channel. Now some call it flavor of the week. However, if you are a ls wielding Jedi, fact is that it is about the most all-around while still powerful temp that we currently have.

i was mls/mdef, 3000 heal & 0002 enh. What do you mean mdef is not viable againstmbh/mcm. I ignore the dots...i pop the poison/fire resist food and then proceed to beat on the bh. i have not lost against bh, 1 on 1, with that template. I am currently changing my temp to mls, 0044 def, 3000 heal and 4402 enh. I'm currently at 4302 enh, and only 3 bh encounters. The fights occurred successively within minutes of the previous fights. the 3rd, i didn't die. Since I was low on force i kd the bh, applied suppression, and FR2 the h377 out of dodge. Since i'm learning how to play a new template, i do miss my mdef. My point is, don't let the dots scare ya. Learn to eat only the minimum foods you need, use drinks if you can and keep your stomach opened for using ruby. popping a couple of stim d's really can turn the tide.

Well I don't plan to change my temp, I am primarily a loot hunter and Tank, but I just cant abide rolling over for these punks, I am doing Sap and have had some limited successes with it and looking forward to testing out the advanced Sap....it just seems to me that the CM's weakness is his action bar, they depend on their healing. If you chop that leg out they are done.

It is rather telling of the mentality of some BH's.

They gripe and whine and complain that Jedi need to be nerfed down to their level.

Then, when they are, they have the temerity to insult Jedi who aren't interested in staying around and showing them a good time. They get their panties in a bunch because they're going to be robbed of a kill.

....and yet they have the audacity to suggest that everyone who plays a Jedi just wants to be uber.
