do you need any private crafting station, or just a weapon/droid will do?

You need a saber crafting tool and a WDG crafting station.

Firstly, experiment and make the best saber crafting tool you can. I made one +13 on TC2.
This will help will your crafting and experiment of your Lightsaber.
Now make your lightsaber components and lightsabers.

I realize this question is probably asked frequently, however my searches have yet yield the answer I seek.
How do I experiment on lightsabers?
My understanding was that I needed a WDG crafting station and a lightsaber crafting tool. I have had no luck using a WDG crafting station, be it private, public or in one of my droids.
I'd appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on my dilemma.

Having the experimentation window appear has a lot to do with where you stand in relation to the weapon crafting station.
I try to stand in front of the "control panel" looking part of the graphic and that seems to work fine for me.
Also, the experimentation window WILL NOT APPEAR if you have both your crafting droid out and stand next to the crafting station, have one OR the other but not both.
I experiment my sabers to max efficency as its less of a drain on the force bar.
I just wish my weaponsmiths toolbelt would help me out with the assembly and the experimentation, the bonuses are for assembling and experimenting on "weapons" after all. Unless the light saber (to killing glow bat for millions of Jedi xp) is not realy a weapon after all?

Ok I'm using a Weapon, Droid or Generic Crafting Station that is installed in my C-3PO Droid.
The experimentation window will come up if I use a WDG crafting tool. but not when I use my saber crafting tool.
Anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong. Do I need to achieve a certian skill box in the Lightsaber tree to do experimentation(I'm only Lightsaber Novice right now)?

You don't have any experimentation points yet.

I got the experiment window when crafting my TRAINING saber....I could even experiment one point (and no - i wasnt novice saber - thus had no experiment points). Didnt mather much though...since the sabers I did experiment on became worse then the non experimented i did.
Now asat novice saber - i still only have one experiment point....

Use a real crafting station, make sure it's not inside some wall.
Fire up the crafting tool, make sure you are a few meters away tops.
