Thread: Force or Action/Mind One of these needs togo

Ok here it is people with the current setup, we draw from 3 pools this is making us weaker than normal characters to a point.

Basically pre cu the force bar was to stop us having to use ham costs, but it also dictated how long we could stay in a fight for.
This was completly balanced ....if not a little in non jedi favour, due to super buffs and food but i wasnt particularly bothered.

Now post cu, we find that we have action and mind costs, the same as non jedi (replacement for ham costs). But we also have a forcepool still.

The forcepool is a hinderance, and makes us weaker when we have to use action and mind too. We are limited to how long we can fight for, but normal profesions are not.

Now this would not be a problem if we didnt have action and mind costs, but we do.

So its simple ...something needs togo.

What would u people prefer to have ?

you are right on the money there. the fact that jedi have 3 pools (action, mind,AND force) to keep in mind, while non-jedi just have action and mind to worry about, in fact turns using the force into a massive liability. this is due mainly to the fact that force does not replace action and mind, but is used by the exact same abilities that also use action and mind AT THE SAME TIME. the total effect is that there is 1/3 more overall drain to a jedi's actions than a non-jedi. now, were our abilities that much more powerful, i could understand the exaggerated penalties. but since most everything has been toned down to the point that there is almost nothing a jedi can do that a non-jedi cant do better, it just means more costs and demands on the jedi for less payoff. so now there is nothing a non-jedi cant do better than a jedi, and with less associated costs.

heres an interesting way to put it all into perspective: jedi are more dependent upon foods, drinks, and spices than just about any other profession. in otherwords, a jedi is working much harder just to use their abilities, which are not that significantly stronger.

overall, it appears that jedi dont ever get anything any easier, and are ultimately just expected to be more knowledgeable about the games mechanics (foods, etc...) in order to be any better than non-jedi. its not in our dps, which is laughable, its not in our defenses, although they can be decent with enough sp invested, and its not in our healing, which is ok but can be done better with less costs by non-jedi healers. our strength just lies in our ability to play the game and maximize as many elements to our advantage as possible. its sad, but this seems to be the way they are approaching it imo.

Yet another thread asking for a very easy mode

What would be the fun if you consumed no action or mind, i have fun and no problem managing all bars, and jedi uses action a lot slower than all other professions so thats never really a problem

Improved Force Heal drains 10% of your mind, I think other heals are around 7 or 6%

Lightsabers minium SAC (After experimenting) is 95-96, some weapons can have SAC of 65.

I agree with the OP, we should drain from force or action/mind only. For example. Why is swinging a lightsaber using up force? It doesnt make sense that saber hit/saber strike use up force. I woulda gree dervish using force since you manipulate the saber with it, but not saber hit...

Channel should be a necessity for templates with Healer, Enhanceror Powers, not Lightsaber or Defender. Every Jedi needs channel nowdays.

I think force is just irritating. If I start a fight with full force, there is practically no chance that I will run out of force before the fight is over, uness i use AI.

However, I gave up channel in favor of other skills so I end up with long downtimes that are just stupid IMO. Having to sit and recharge for 10 minutes, doesn't add to the game experience for anyone. I don't find force to be a limiting factor in battle, only limiting in terms of my game time. It's like having to sit and let your cellphone cool down for 10 minutes before you could make another call. Of course using some of SOE's other actions in this example they might as have well announced, "Your cellphone is not going to be a cellphone anymore, we are "Upgrading" it to a pager, and your pager "Upgrade" is going to come two weeks before we said it would, congratulations".

haha, true. I think the biggest nerf they made to jedi - was allowing so many of us.

hell yeah.. but i would be more than happy if they gave pearls/crystals their sac reduction mods they should have...

And to the one that said try using a carbine with a mod speed of 1 with 100 sac.. actually you can't compair it to any saber
since mod speed on jedi means absolute jack since we are all hiting at base speed... the only way to have a saber hit at 1 speed
is by doing the spamming trick to overrun the cooldowns... try that lets see how much your action last. keep in mind that this
will be fixed and we will all be getting the "too tired" message just about when we are about to incap someone... got to love it.

oh and add a sac pup to a sac caped pistol/rifle/carbine and they can spam specials all day long

no sig won't let me use html sniff sniff

just get rid of the force bar.... or make our moves 3 times more powerful

Why do we have the same arguements about jedi day in and day out, when the solution is simple?

Someone who have some clout in SOE needs to read this stuff sometimes
