Thread: Experimentation Single Point at a Time or all at Once?

I have seen many threads discussing experimentation and the like. However I have seen varying views on what is better, placing one experimentation point at a time, or whole bars. I know that if you do one at a time youo have less chance of getting an amazing success at all of the experiments, but I am not too experienced in crafting and would like to know which is more advantageous.

Thanks

Always 1 at a time.

Sorry for persisting but would you care to explain why? Sorry but I haven't really done experimenting before. Does this yield better results then? If you dont get an amazing (or whatever) everytime do you scrap it and start over?

It can, amazing results always work from the craft you already have. So if you do all at once and have a begining craft of lets say 30% it would be 30% + amazing. If you go 1 at a time you may get 2 amazings or better and they may hit at a time you have experimented up to like 50%. Then it would be 50% + amazing. This will give you a better result. You have a better chance to get more amazings also. Amazings can also give you a chance at another exper chance.

As far as scraping no. If you get 2 you should be fine. Keep that one and try agian. Don't scrap ones that have 2 amazings unless you get a better one.

I'm an experienced crafter, my alt is a weaponsmith. In order to save one point in maxing out a line you need the equivalent of a 6 point amazing. Since you want a saber crafted to its maximum and will junk the rest, start with a 6 point experiment in the line you want to max out, or raise to the highest level. If you hit an amazing you have the results of 7 greats. Going one point at a time is fine on stuff when using looted items, it minimizes the damage of a bad roll, but you also need more amazings to get the same reward.

Biggest bang for the buck is a 6 point amazing on first roll, I destroy anything that doesnt get this result.

i don't know if its my connection or what but no matter were i go crafting city or not weaponsmith buff or not i never get a amazing success but once in a rare occurrence.

Its gotta be a bug, because I used to get amazings all the time, and now I"ve only had one in over 60 experiments!

Also the food is acting like the drink, it dissapears every time I experiment. The Port stays, but the food which is supposed to stay is used. I think this must be linked to why I get no amazings. Tho it does fix itself after a few experiments, but even after that, it still only gives 'good' exps.

you want to drink the crafting stuff each time you experiment. so take a drink, exp 1 pt, take a drink exp, etc..

takes a while, but you can craft the perfect saber lke that

experimenting 6 points on the first roll is the way to go. This is because if you get an amazing success using 6 points, it's as if you've used 7 points instead. so you save an extra point and if you got 12 pts to play with, then you have 6 points left over to do what you want. IN the end, it's as if you have a total of 13 pts to use.

1 great success will yeild you 7%

1 amazing success will yeild you 8%

If you start with 28% on a lineand use 6 points at one time and get an amazing success, you get 77% total experimentation.

to get the same results using one point at a time, you'd have to use 7 points getting all great successes or use 6 points getting an amazing success on each point.

We all know the chances of getting 6 amazing successes in a row is not likely....this is why experiementing 6 points at a time and getting an amazing success is better.

Overall, you get an extra 7% experiementation, save an extra point of experimentation and have a higher chance of getting an amazing success. Plus you can try up to 5 times before you have to wait until your stomach empties from the bespin port.

EDIT: also, you can do this without bespin port, because there's always a chance to get an amazing success on any attempt. so even when your stomach if full, you can continue to try and get the amazing using 6 points. When your stomach is empty, you can then use bespin port to increase your chances. So overall, there is no waiting around for 15 - 30 minutes

During my weaponsmith crafting, having 12 points to play with, I put 6 points in SAC on a component and got an amazing success, then put the last 6 into speed and got another amazing success....in the end, it was like having 14 experimentations points to play with.

For an artisan, you can get up to 16 points if your get the above results on two separate lines.

As another poster said, the only time experiementing 1 pt at a time is better, is when your using rare components (tissues, cubes, bones) and crafting enhanced items. You don't want to use 6 points on a krayt weapon because if you get a critical failure, having used 6 points will make the whole experimentation line 0% and once it's at 0%, you can't increase it anymore.....so weapon would be useless and you'd have wasted your enhancements.

But for sabers, there are no such valuable components. refined crystal packs really don't even need to be in the crafting of sabers as they do absolutely nothing and are just thier because canon says jedi needed to make them in order to makes the saber focusing lense.

So in crafting sabers, there really is no reason you should be experimenting 1 point at a time, unless you think you can get 6 or 7 amazings in a row. If so, then by all means keep doing it the hard way.
