I just came up with this, let me know what you think:

This is for Jedi only (for now)

On-leave: Same as we are now. No visibility Gained.

Combattant: Decreased Timers, +5% force regen, Visibility Gained at normal rate.

Special Forces: Decreased Timers, +10% Force Regen, 5% damage increase, No decay of items on death, Visibility Gained at 50% increase. 5% decrease in SAC/Mind costs.

This reward you for increase risk, yet allows the PVE jedi to play unharrassed. The only drawback is that GCW would generate vis. That is the price for playing though.

I think it could be an even easier solution.

When the player unlocks Jedi that get 2 options:

1. Current visibility rules apply. They can be hunted by players.Only loses XP on player bounty death.

2. They gain no visibility/cannot be hunted by players, can NEVER go special forces, and are permanately cloaked to non group members. Loses XP on death.

That way everyone is happy. Jedi that want to play the one player game and pick and choose what players enter their game universe can choose so without ruining the Star Wars experience for other players.

Jedi that enjoy interacting with other players in the dynamic universe a multiplayer online game provides can continue to do so.

My solution offers a continued choice.

What about PvE factional npcs? Would you have to go to a different status for that under this system?

here's the main reason i have for not wanting to reward pvp jedi.

The GCW wants us out period because of PVP jedi, but now pvp jedi will have more power to 'ruin' the GCW?

PVP jedi already give the whole profession a bad name, not all pvp jedi but some. it's like a bad slasher film with a lightsaber.

While we are mixed with non-jedi it we will never get more power to the overall proffession.

Werent you arguing against that in a different post. I would be happy with what you propose. And if it was implamented i would shut my mouth forever on the subject.

Too often players and the devs have a mindset that professions should be balanced with 1 on 1 pvp in mind. This mindset is ruining the game. The benchmark for balance should be determined by the role a profession plays in a group setting. As long as the current mindset continues we will never see uniqueness among the professions, nor will we ever see individuality within a given profession. We will never see the SWG universe expanded as the focus will only ever be balance pass after balance pass after balance pass.

Biggest problem I can see with this is the lack of desire for non-Jedi GCW fans to have Jedi "messing up" the GCW. You're offering the biggest carrot to Jedi who are GCW. Most of the people who would go to GCW status are going to do so when they're at full template.

Now I'm not saying I agree with them, but they feel that Jedi muck up GCW PVP. Jedi full temps who are certain they won't be changing their temp are going to encouraged to go Spec Ops under your system, something I can see the GCW fans screaming about.

Ok...here's the deal. Combattant, you are vulnerable to BH attacks, but given a bit of a reward for it. Special Forces are attackable en masse, so there needs to be a bigger reward. PVP would have it's place, but it's risks would be balanced with rewards. There are still more non-jedi than jedi, they would be able to overwhelm jedi is they got organized.

You are correct, but, as has been seen in several other posts, the vast majority of jedi would be non-combattant. Even the carrots I have offered would only help those that want to pvp with fixes that should be in place anyway and a small reward for being attackable 6 ways from Sunday.

Thing is peeps we need to come up with some sort of comprimise. Eitherpeople say weshould completely remove pvp all together or go pvp completely. So something in between sounds like the best way to appease both sides of the argument. Im all for it. Make jedi still be geared towards pvp but at the same time allow players to take a break from it and rp or pve. Faction NPC's should always give vis if a system like this was implamented because they for sure would be the ones hiring bounty hunters to kill jedi. Either the imps would report a jedi sighting or the rebels would hire bh to hunt down and kill dark jedi.

Well first nice for some one to keep the jedi mechanic discussion in swg going.

for the griefers, pvp, BH, and the "jedi population control" folks.

There is no longer any barrier to becoming a jedi. BH'ers have 0 effect on the jedi population.

Sooner you all learn that the better off we'll all be. The only theory of controling the jedi through xp , perma-death, visablility , BH etc is gone. Went a way a long time ago.

We do have a problem with jedi in this game, acutally serveral.

I'm a pve type, I can pvp. Never lost to a BH, been on base raidswithmy jedi and non-jedi char, but I don't enjoy any aspect of pvp. I like chilling with friends, playing my jedi and doing pve content. I think a large portion of swg players do as well. The Forums themselves don't really reflect those numbers.

Sure you see jedi pvp all over the place but I see a lot more when I'm out doing pve content.

The pvp want to use their jedi in pvp because jedi can be the complete package. Good def. Good Off. Good escape/evade , good healing.

So what to we do to statify everyone?

Jedi that prefer pve should be giving that option. The option should be a one time choice. You want to be strictly pve then that is all you'll be unless you drop all jedi skills and status and regrind jedi from scratch.

That means a pve jedi could never be pvp enabled including for duels.

Create a pve Bh system for them. if there visiblity gets to high npc BH will be generated to go after them, they higher the visibility the more freaquent the BH visits.

No FRS for pve jedi. Those pve jedi who have spent 220 skill points in jedi skills will be given the title of knight.

PvP jedi: BH missions stand, change it back to where names are available, keep faction info , still hide the price.

PvP will have a FRS, what ever it turns out to be.

PvP jedi must chose a faction(I'd prefer we get light /dark factions) rebel or imp no neutrals.

PvP on spending 200 skillpoints in jedi will have saber tef activatedagainst opposing factions

PvP jedi of opposite factions will be tef to each other.

-xp will be removed. for both pve and pvp jedi.

frs will lose frs xp for deaths.

Just some ideas, really quickly though up but we as jedi, Bh and the swg community need to discuss this subject.

It's become Bh , jedi wars instead of swg and we need to end or mitigate the hostilities.

I've never had a negative encouter to a BH but when you read these boards it gets pretty hot.

Know BH want there content but they need to understand that the majority of there content doesn't want to play with them we tolerate it as a price of being jedi, but there is now reason for it to be this way.

LOL, was it the free holocrons that gave you the impression SOE wants to limit the population?

The sooner everyone understands that SOE does not intend to keep the population down the sooner better.
