Thread: A simple solution to forced PvP

As a full template Jedi with no interest in PvP at all, I get rather annoyed at other players deciding to take up my gametime to show me how well they can heal. I regularly lead grinding groups for my guildies, and its also annoying for them to have to wait 30 mins for me when a BH attacks. I have a top end sabre and am MLS, but even so, a good healer can easily keep the fight going for a long long time, even though they have no hope of being any real danger to me. Before the CU, fights (for me anyway) were over much more quickly, as so it was much less of an issue. A session for me lasts roughly two hours at the moment, so I really don't want a BH taking up a large chunk of that.

That said, a lot of Jedi and BH love these fights, and are very into PvP. A solution to this could be the introduction of something similar to the current GCW status.

For example:

A Neutral Jedi cannot be hunted (Obviously they would not be able to participate in the GCW or future FRS)

A Rebel Jedi can be huntedby Imperialor Neutral BH, or Imperial Jedi.

A Imperial Jedi can be hunted by Rebel or Neutral BH, or Rebel Jedi.

This would allow the non-PvP Jedi to play in peace, and also would allow extra content for PvP Jedi, as they would be able to hunt in the same way a BH can.

Just my thoughts, after having another playing session disrupted again by another healing BH who it took 30 mins to incap. I suppose I could stay off the terminals, but then I am closing down a big part of the game - animals aren't exactly fun to fight...

So why even go for jedi in the first place? You knew the limitations and yet still went ahead.

There is no better system in place to limit jedi numbers than other players.

I went for Jedi because this isStar Wars.

As I said, it wasn't much of an issue before as the fights used to be over quickly (one way or another). The problem I have now is that the fights take so long, that is eats drastically into my *fun" time.

I am only stating an idea which would make the game more fun for ME (and I assume others as well), WITHOUT nerfing or impacting any other type of player.

I would agree with that if combat didn't sometimes last 30 mins or more. If fights lasted 5 - 10 mins max that would be fine...but as it stands now, if both the BH and the JEDI are skilled, prepared with the right foods, have good weapons and such.....you can fight until one of you gets tired and wants to declare a draw or call a truce.

The problem here is not that people don't want to be hunted by BH's or not that they don't want to be involved in pvp. It's the fact of the matter that, not everyone has a lot of time to play the game. If I can only play for an hour today and I decided I want to go finish up a quest that involves killing npc's...well I'm gonna get vis (that's where the content is at). Now here comes a BH that may take 30 mins to kill like the original poster said. My hour has effectively turned into 30 mins of doing what I didn't intend to do.

The point is that forced pvp in CU is not needed anymore due to the combat system has changed drastically and is also very flawed. So when you add up all the /bugs, unintended gameplay and everything else, force pvp becomes grieving in a mild way. Sure people choose to become jedi knowing that pvp is part of it, but it's not all of it especially with Obi-Wans quest coming out soon. Jedi is no longer stricktly PVP professions anymore and I believe the FRS will reflect this possibly.

Also, just because someone goes jedi doesn't mean they should be forced to pvp....for many people jedi is the last bit of content left in this game. You've mastered every profession, did all you can as a normal profession....well now it's time to try out jedi......since everything in the game is a lot easier to do with a jedi, it makes it the obvious choice for many people to enjoy many aspects of the game.

I'm not saying BH missions should go, but something needs tweaking now to give players options to pvp.....it should have never been forced on any profession. I don't like it myself mainly because only one profession is being forced into pvp...every other profession has a choice, including BH.

SO although I agree somewhat with your statement, there are many new exceptions that make the forced pvp aspect of this game obsolete and is in need of a revamp.

Lol i love these whining posts Jedi is a PVP profession, i think that BH should stay....

I find it fustrating that a BH comes along at bad times but thats the risk for been a Jedi you accepted this when you became one..

The way i see it is that either lose your Jedi and become a normal character prof again or don't get any Visability..

The choice is yours..

I'm generally very civil on the forums but in this case, shut your mouth carebear. Jedi is a forced pvp class and you knew this ahead of time. If you don't enjoy your gameplay sessions with the class you chose to play then change to any other class in the game because none of them are forced pvp. It's amazing how pathetic the Jedi players are on this game because all they seem to do is ask for nerfs on each other, cry about forced pvp and bounty hunters and want everything handed to them on a silver platter. Give me better pearls...whaaaa....give me another respec...whaaaa...**edit**. You don't sign up to join the military then piss and moan about being sent to war, its the path you chose now live with it.

the thing is that each one of us pay to play this game just like you do. Ifsomeone is finding something is making their game experience bad and it's not the game itself or the profession, butANOTHER PLAYER....then thatneeds looking into.

When jedi was put into this game, nodevs or any rules listed anywhere said that you "HAVE" to fight every singleBH that comes your way.Nothing said that if you want todo the geo cave, the dwb, kashyyk, themeparks, secrets of syren..etc. that you can have that whole experience blown up by some BH looking to put another kill on his list and get paid for it.

So all I'm saying is that a simple choice is need since the game has changed. We are not intheFRS and so we should not be forced into pvpat someones elses desire. Player A loves pvp and that's all they want to do, so they get a BH and hunt jedi because they know they will always have an opponent to face of with in PVP.Player B likes pvp, but also likes PVE and the other "FUN" content in the game. If the system allows player A to come and destroy the playing experience of Player B at any point and time without player B's consent......that is simply wrong no matter how you look at it.

Jedi was not put in this game for PVP only. If that were the case then we wouldn'thave access to pve content. So all you jedi who think that jedi is all about PVP only and that those who simply wish to be left alone sometimes when they don't feel like being sucked into pvp (even though they like it sometimes)....you guysneed to get off your high horseand stopmaking comments liek your the only ones paying toplay this game.

FYI, I enjoy jedi as much as my normal characters. However,my jedi is betterat everything and is the logical choice when I want to do some content. Also, my jedi can do contentthat my crafter/pistoleer can't do. So my jedi again is the logical choice for certain PVE. If I pay my 15 bucks like you....should Inot be allowed to voice a wish like the orginal poster. After all, it was said that optional pvp was desired, not thatanyone wants to never be hunted.

Regardless of what anyone says, forcing any paying customer to engage in any content with another customer when they don't wish to is wrong. Regardless of how the game is made right now, that doesn't mean it can't be changed for the better.

So if other jedi like their full time forced pvp, then fine, do that by all means...but that gives you no right to come in here and tell someone else that they can't have it the way they want to when they pay just like you do.

This is not an unreasonable request. It won't hurt the game to have this option at all. just seems to me that some BH's don't want it changed because they like spoiling other players fun.

Bottom line is that I pay my 42 bucks every 3 months and I have the right to ask for anything that I think will help improve my playing experience and there are many people like me just like there are many people like you. Having a system where we both can enjoy the game the way we like is better for everyone overall.

So a system for jedi/bh's that works just like the GCW is good in my opinion. Those jedi who like to pvp and be vulnerable 24/7 can stay overt.....but those jedi who like pve without interruptions should by all means be allowed to have that, especially when it doesn't affect anyone elses playing experience.

I fully agree with the poster on this one - I have no need for PvP. Ive had fights that last over an hour -well whippy dar. There are more BH than banthas now and there will be more since the loot they can get with relative ease is good stuff - 12 to 20 tapes and lots of other goodies.

Jedi on the other hand have to go on the terminals even for healing - bizzare.

BH have NPC marks - we should have NPC BHs. (Say level 120 or something)

SOE - please stop promoting religeous hatred.

If that is the case, then BH's have failed completely in their task
