Smedley on our feedback:

"It's mixed. It's very positive [feedback] from the people who are actually playing it. And we also have the expected push back from the people who haven't actually logged in to try it," says Smedley. "Once people get in there, it's overwhelmingly positive. It's the "the sky is falling" crowd on the forums that's still going to take some converting. I understand that. These are big changes."

Personally i've tried NGE for hours now, and I still dont like the loss of professions, skills, and jedis becoming a normal profession. Is this the truth? Anyone here who tested NGE and still doesnt like it? Anyone who changed their mind after playing? I'd be interested to know...

From what I hear jedi are not equal to other professions. I personally don't mind the loss of classes as it is for a good purpose. It is easier for them to balance professions, and it is easier for them to add content to the game for the different classes and in general. This gives them extra time to work on new cool things for us while being able to balance the professions as well. These two things were certainly NOT possible in the CU. I personally like the speed of the game as it reminds me of pre-cu (the good days).

While i'd love to see it that way personally i think it will just cause SOE to shrink the dev team because there is less to maintain. Look at the state of the NGE servers at the moment, there a hundreds of smaller and bigger bugs, and hundreds of items that are getting converted wrongly or even worse not at all (eg holocrons)

I tried it on TC. Tutorial with Han and Chewie I liked but the NGE profession and system change is absolutely terrible! So I can safely say I hate the NGE.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, 'How can we do this and not make another EQ?' We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen." - Julio Torres

Yeah these bugs have always been the problem with SWG. That is why I recommend them recruiting people from their main website to "internally test" the new SWG IR's (Internal releases) for free. These people would only be recruited if they have had experience in game design and/or experience in testing other games. This would not include test center for SWG. It's obvious this needs to be done. If they had an internal team testing the new "stuff" problems like the falcon or any other new quest would not be in the Patch when put on test center. Then people could test on testcenter to cover the Testing Team's tracks maybe on both what they tested and just regular things to make sure nothing was broken in the process.

New training ground is the best idea I have seen yet! New CU is the worst!

I'll admit I haven't tried the game yet. The reason being, it's coming whether I like it or not, and in the form that the development team chooses, whether I care or not. So when it hit's live, I'll play it with an open mind and will hopefully enjoy the experience.

That being said. I personally think thereare2 reasonsI play SWG over other games.

One, ease of profession change you don't like being a combatant, be a medic, don't like that be a crafter. That's being removed.

Two, the crafting system was in depth and detailed in a way that was challenging and fulfilling. Over the course of the last 2 upgrades (CU and NGE) that has been deemphasised.

While I realize the game is not about crafting, it was incorporated in the gamein such a way that itallows those that enjoy the system to determine their own level of depth using it, while not taking away the game playing ability of those that want nothing to do with it. So because of those 2 things which are central to the NGE, I will not enjoy NGE as much as I did my prior game experience.

He also states that SWG didn't lose subs with the CU, and that we are gaining subs faster than any other SOE game. Then later says that these changes are needed to keep SWG "a going concern".

Clearly the man is a liar, as BOTH statements cannot possibly be true, they directly contradict.
