Thread: It seems like they're publishing these changes before even concepting
Why? What is your goal? What direction are you guys trying to get into?
It seems more than anything that you're basically saying "Screw old blood, throw all Jedi to the wind, throw all players to the wind, nerf everything, and lets bring in new blood by promising them a chance as a Jedi at starting." This very idea is completely stupid. You're going to say "SCREW Your 15 bucks, and all payments of 15 bucks prior to it, their 19.95 and whatever we can milk out of them until we turn the servers off is enough to make our investment finished."
Seriously, at the rate the nerfs, changes, and miscommunication, ceception, and overall ignoring the subscription paying player base is completely going to kill this game by next December.
I'm calling it now, by December of 2006, SWG will be shut down or shut down will be announced.
What kind of game designer takes away content from a game already lacking in content? "Lets turn 32 in depth professions to 9, why? Cuz our dev team SUCKS."
Are you guys THAT lazy? What happened? TELL US.
I wanna know what exactly sparked the sudden change of face completely
Either it is THAT good it has to come out NOW.
or
They got sick of seing ghost towns on any server compared to the hundreds that use to be logged in, and decided it could NOT get worse.
What sparked it was the fact that gamers in Japan hate bug-ridden games where the developers don't pay attention and fix things.
Star Wars Galaxies tanked over there, they just announced it. So to recoup their losses, SWG producers are in a panic mode, bringing out SWG2 disguised as an update to SWG.
They're basing these changes on the feedback of people who left the game. People who didn't have an attention span longer than five minutes, couldn't be bothered to discover and read the forums, and threw the manual away after they'd torn out all the pages for toilet paper. People who want to be led, by the hand, through everything. People who can't understand that flexibility is good, and thinking is a good way to approach and solve problems. People who are easily distracted by whatever new game comes along, and have no loyalty to any game, period.
That is what is driving this sudden and complete gutting of the game.
If ya think about it, the new AI, the CL level system, removal of the combat queue, nearly every change in the CU (except for the new hotbar icons and cooldown rules) seems to fit seemlessly with this change, the CU was just a progression patch for this..
