Theres alot of "We are planning this". They say what the community wants to hear not what is always fact. They at one point suggested Ranger would take on a Spy like role. Guess what? The New SWG has spy as a class. They also said all along a New FRS was being programmed. Not true at all in fact they said no plans for FRS at this time.

The posted it up within the last 2 weeks as it was going in as ranger for publish 25. I remember reading about it.


Why would they give CH's love if they KNEW they were going to smash them to oblivion?

Why would they let so many dev resources get wasted with the hard advertising of ToOW? They put all their eggs into that basket and it fell down and broke.


Just look at all the content they added specifically for ToOW. It was all designed for at least some longevity. They planned it to save them, but they didn't account for the fact the average player doesn't want to PAY for content beyond their 15 bucks.

Again, no. All of the proposed changes you've heard about, were in fact planned for this new system. All the details on rangers getting revamped into spys, well, they just didn't straight out say, they are in fact getting dumped into a new spy skill. Nearly all the changes to the profs nearly seemlessly go into this new system, in fact many aspects of the original CU fit more in line with these changes than how the system works now.. Notice how some of the revamp threads vanished awhile back tho. (the smuggler revamp, for example) This has been planned for quite some time, and something on this level (changing the entire game) would be in coding alone for several months


The CH gifts was dirty marketing, getting CH's to buy the expansion for more $. TooW did not backfire, have you been there? At times it seems to have nearly every player on the server. And as said the ranger revamp changes go perfectly in line with this new spy skill, again just shady marketing

Then explain the carbineer love, the ch love, and other love put into TOoW which JUST CAME OUT technically. Remember, they let us that preorder in first because they had faith we could probably convince friends to buy into it as well by showing off our new "status symbols..."

Well, as far as I'm concerned, I don't think this was planned at all at least from the main developer point of view. This sounds like a takeover and someone high up importing their own developer team and staging a cleanup of the game to help protect their investment.

Carbineer isnt gone. Rifleman isnt,pistoleer isnt.

They are just a subset of "RANGED" now. Everyone can use the weapons that are newly added. obviously tho unless your a profession that gets ranged specials youll just be doing default shots

The producers letter clearly explains the intent of this change:

Currently, the early game has a steep learning curve and there is no clearly defined path of advancement or adventure. Many of our fans who bought the game did not see enough Star Wars style action early-on and ultimately left our world. It is our goal to change this and improve the experience for all players.


They are making it easier and more fast-action from the get go, instead of having a brand new player being forced to grind to a double mastery before they are even capable of defending themselves in pvp and "exciting" pve. Changes to the game like this arn't just decided on a whim because of a non-existant "expansion backfire", and as said changes on this level spend months in development, and coding respectivly

The profession as a independent one is dead yeah as is many other professions but that doesnt mean the Playstyle of a carbineer is. They just need to pick up one of the new iconic status's and decide the weapon style they like best

They've never explained ANYTHING clearly EVER here. Everything posted, stated, advertised, and such ALWAYS has a huge degree of ambiguity to it.


They've never been straight forward with us about anything. Remember the direction they were talking about before? About all they mentioned were going to fix pearls for us "in november".

This entire CU2 is a last ditch attempt at milking the Star Wars franchise before the hype of the last DVD fades off and they lose all chances of it. Same reason MMO will fail for turbine, because they have no steam to ride off of that will bring attention to the game for non fanboys/fangirls.
