Shouldn't force lightning cause wound damage and possibly set fire to the target? Did anyone else see the Emperor's face after Windu reflected the lightning back at him?His face looked pretty melted to me.

With the low amount of damage that Powers users have already, can we at least get lightning to cause wounds and have a chance to set fire?

Come on, it's lightning! Right now the ability is the equivalent of rubbing my feet on the carpet and then touching someone.

I know how to play it. I'm just commenting on what a joke force lightning is for an ability. It's lightning! You know that really hot, bolt of electricity that can burn a hole in the earth?

You sir, are missing the point.

I see the point.

What you don't seem to understand is that the "lightning" is not actually "lightning".

The force power lighting is just a concentration of force that the force weilder has decided that he wants it to take the shape of lightning.

I could shoot hearts at you and it would do the same damage.

So, is that why the Emperor's face melted? Because it's not really a hot bolt of electricity. Is that what you're saying?

I always assumed the Emp's face 'melted' due to the fact he was unleashing a MASSIVE amount of force, and we know force=life (in a sense). So he was basically sucking the life out of himself, giving a 'melted' face look, which could be a different version of loosing his life-force and 'growing' old from it.

I thought in the movie you could see the lightning being reflected off Windu's saber back at the Emperor.

I can see how using a massive amount of force would "suck life" from the user, but would it really give him a melted look? He didn't look old, he looked well done to me.

My point is lightning is not fake as AceW would try to have you believe. Manipulating the force to create lightning does not mean it loses the properties of real lightning, It's still a burning, bolt of electricity, and a burning, bolt of electricity should set fire and cause wounds.

Oh also, couldn't we see smoke rising off the Emperor a little?

awesome idea but will never happen that makes sense can have cms carrying around a unlimited supply of chemical fires poison and disease clouds but cant have lightning causeing wounds and burns

would be cool to see dark powers like in kotor debilitating and damaging but then again would make sense and give us power so we will never see it

powers is was under powered

i hate when peeps say "learn how to play your temp"

thats about the dumbest comment u can make, just because my proff is gimped, doesnt mean i have to accept it, i think everyone should ask for more out of powers

after all, it is force POWERS, we should be a power to deal with, strike fear in other players, instead its like "look at the pretty lightning, wow, it does harldy any damage and he has to stand complety still or it doesnt work...noob, he should learn to play his temp"

Agreed.

Powers has always been kept on a tight leash by the developers for a number of reasons. If powers were to be given a major boost in damage, then a template that is both MP and MLS would be so, ahem, overpowering it would be the one and only template. To avoid this, Powers became a "crowd control" skill set but one that could also complement LS skills - the Dark Side equivalent of Enhancer.

Clearly, from the movies, no-one ever won a fightusing only powers against an opponent with a lightsaber:

1. Luke Vs Vader - Vader used an LS

2. Emperor Vs Luke - Luke did not have his LS

3. Dooku Vs Anakin/Obi-Wan - Anakin rushed in and got toasted by lightening, but in the hands of a Master the light saber can easily deflect lightening as Obi-Wan subsequently demonstrates (and Windu in Ep3).

4. Dooku Vs Yoda - and I quote Dooku "it is obvious that thiscontest cannot be decided by our knowledge of the Force, but by our skill with a lightsaber."

5. Mace Vs Palpatine - Mace disarmed Palpatine (taking away his saber) leaving Palpatine with only Force Powers, and Palpatine had is butt handed to him by Mace when he tried to use lightening to defeatthe saber-wielding Jedi Master.

6. Yoda Vs Palpatine - both were LS equipped and used force powers and there was no real winner (Palpatine by default - but certainly not due to Force Powers).

So, connonically, Powers has been a nifty support skill but a Jedi with a saber has never been killed by lightening.
