Thread: TH & Tiggs, Please Read Visibility Griefing

This weekend while working on my crafter, my guild channel picked up a disturbing new trend. Apparently some BHs out there are actively seeking groups that are grinding with Jedi in them and justhanging out within visibility range. The Jedi players have two choices, either to stop their play session, or to gain visibility that the BH who's standing there can later use to hunt them.

While this obviously qualifies as griefing (purposly disrupting another player's gameplay), it also brings up a serious flaw in the visibility system. To be balanced, BHs simply should not be able to generate visibility. There's no other class in the game that can basically create their own PVP targets, nor should there be. However, the flaw doesn't stop there. Even if BHs couldn't generate visibility, they could have their friends and alts do the same thing.

What really needs to be done is a cap on how much visibility a player can give another player within a 24-hour period. This will still allow BH's to do their thing, but will limit the damage they can do. Given that we don't really know fully how visibility works, this may already be in place. If it is, excellent, and the BH's are wasting their time. If it isn't, it needs to be.

Here's one for you all. We did this the other day to a BH that was grief-vising us. He had us on /follow and went afk. We separated to find out who he was attached to. Once we found out who it was, that person took the BH for a "little trip" to the DJMs (or whatever they are) on the island next to the MO on Dant. Poof! Dead BH, and we continued with our grinding.

If you don't want visibility, don't grind on Dantooine of all places.

I don't see the problem. With every galaxy littered with half dead ghost towns and even dead planets, there has to be a place to grind safely. May be slower outside of areas like Mining, but at least the chances of coming across other players will be remote. I could be wrong, but I doubt the people complaining about vis were out on Talus or somewhere like that.

How does one track down a properly hiding group of player jedi that aren't generating visibility before the BH arrives anyway?

Go away, troll. You get these BH no matter when planet you're on. Had them on Tatooine and Dath. You'll find out when you've played a while. Some BH just go out of their way to look for grind groups on ANY planet to vis-grief.

vis-grief? Hmm new word wow. Visibility + Griefing, its not really Griefing so your definition is off, its more like Visilbilty + Harassing if anything, or could be Visibility + Awe, who knows but your using the wrong term.

Here ya go, Noob. Webster's definition of Grief:

n.
1. A source of deep mental anguish.
2. Annoyance or frustration. (eg. Trying to follow their directions was nothing but grief.)

I'm pretty sure it falls under #2. Time for you to go back to school, eh?

Counting Naboo, Talus, Rori, Corellia, Tatooine and Dantooine there are six buildable planets where you can aquire CL 80's missions from player cities (I'm quite partial to sharnaffs myself, fond memories of when I first started). Most of these probably have quite a few possible player city locations. Some are probably places no one would ever think to visit.

Not saying that following someone only to give them visibility isn't griefing -I think it is personally - but surely, if one actually tried to hide, there's more than enough room to do so.

I think this is the most rediculous things I've heard as if bounty hunters want to waste a bunch of time trying to cause jedi grief by wandering aimlessly into the middle of nowhere In hopes to find a group.. Seriously, if a bh does do this he's an idiot because that would just take way too much time... BH have way more other stuff to deal with then seek out random groups which they have no idea where they are then sitting next to them, I can't think of anything else I'd like to do between cloakers/afker's/root runners/offline targets etc... The list goes on and on this is dumb.

the only way that would work would be to have the same group of people all the time in your grinding group...otherwise the more different people you added word would get out and your location would be found...lets be honest here...the people who are purposely doing this are going to do it where the majority of people are grinding...Even if you had your own "special" grinding group in some off location they would be available all the time and those people would be forced to grind with others elsewhere...
