"The Jedi, form into mob groups, jump 10 to 1 on anything that they can attack,"

"To use their powers to do as much destuction and harm,"

"To forget or pray on the weak,"

"Say stuff knowleage and honour, I want to be the bad ass lean mean killing machine"

"To laugh at the misfortune of the dead body of the player who was out number 10 to 1 (at least)"

Instead of:

"Jedi Code

The Philosophy that sums up the beliefs of the Jedi Knights is embodied in the credo:

There is no emotion; there is peace.

There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.

There is no passion, there is serenity.

There is no death, there is the force.

A Jedi does not act for personal power or wealth but seeks knowledge and enlightenment.

A ttrue Jedi never acts from hatred, anger, fear, or aggression but acts when calm and at peace with the force."

I not saying not all Jedi players out there dont play the Jedi true to the code, but they are few and far between. I get the impression that most players that wanted to play a Jedi was for "to have a powerful character to kill other with", as most keep on challenging other players to a duel's and DB them even when they say "Daul with no DB", or is it just so you have the lightsabar and/or jedi powers?

The other night, i saw a light jedi telling a noob to unlock jedi is to defeat 1 in combat and tryed to trickthe noob into figthing him. Is this the true actions of a Jedi?

All I'm saying is for some players who not got what a Jedi is, you want to play a Jedi, then PLAY a jedi, and not a thug with a light saber. Other wise u can say i want to play a smuggler, but not want to be a crimial. Or I want to play a law officer and go robbing banks. The Jedi code is meant to be at the centre of the jedi, not his powers and light sabars, for these are only his tools, not wht he is.

Hmm.... no, I'm sorry I can't agree.

Most people wanted to play a jedi to be a jedi.. it's the ultimate part of the Star Wars universe, and many, like myself, would like to take part in that.

Jedi cannot play as the peaceful ambassadors they are supposed to be for three main reasons:

1. The game forces them to pvp by the player bounty system, which means they must get as powerful as they possibly can (to the limits that have been given to them) in order to just survive against an army of others that are just looking to kill them for whatever personal reasons they choose

2. Jedi are limited from vast amountsof gamecontent without suffering said bounty system listed above. I don't see the ability to promote acts of kindness and help others when you're at constant risk of being shot down by others, nowwithout much chance of survival. Some of these players arethe kind of players you seem to generalize the jedi as being in your post.

3. Jedi are supposed to be peace ambassadors, yet it's insisted they play part in the Galactic Civil War which involves nothing short of taking sides and killing others that oppose.

The game dictates what Jedi are currently. I'm not saying all Jedi are nice people. Some of them have some serious damage. Others are friends or just regular players. It's not fair to generalize their behavior like that, even if you say most of them, especially when the game doesn't allow for it.

I say still good point mr sneath...

Now how does the game affect all this you think?

I really try to help new players, I try to defend people that ask for it during missions.

But whats the reward of acting like a true Jedi??

The reward is simple.. You will get killed by a 12 year old MBH that uses a droid exploit.

I will provide you an example of how not to act as a jedi. Last night while getting missions in MO to cap my XP, an imperial jedi was spamming himself for hirefor spin groups for a 10K fee. I was using my BH alt and thought for a moment may be I should look for his mission. But that would be counter productive to my needs. This is a prime example of how not to lead on as jedi. Even as a MBH I try to include lower CL players for the sake of improving the game, at no cost to anyone but myself. So for those who wish to prostitute the profession, I suppose that is there choice. However, it is not in keeping with the role of jedi.

The fact of the matter is, because of a programming choice - It was decided that Jedi would be a PvP profession.

  • We get XP for killing mass amounts of creatures (Un-Jedi)

  • We must kill those that hunt us to keep the XP (Un-Jedi)

  • Old FRS, we had to kill to get more powerful (Un-Jedi)

From the start, Jedi is treated almost 180 degrees apart from what a Canonical treatment of Jedi should be. I don't at all blame people for playing the game as the game has been designed.

I blame the game for not respecting the Jedi code from the very beginning.

I have a friend who is a lvl 80 Jedi : I'm still waiting for her to be hunted by a Jedi... don't want to PvP ? don't gain visibility.. it's possible, I know of many Jedis who manage to play in every parts of the game without gaining visibility.

2. Jedi are limited from vast amountsof gamecontent without suffering said bounty system listed above. See my precedent answer : you can play a Jedi everywhere in the game and don't gain visibility.

3. Jedi are supposed to be peace ambassadors, yet it's insisted they play part in the Galactic Civil War which involves nothing short of taking sides and killing others that oppose.

You choose to play a part in the GCW : you can stay apart if you want. (and it's funnier for non Jedis when they're not ganked by 8 Jedis who wait near the recruiter for a noob who plans to try the Spec Forces).
