Thread: Survey results on pre and post cu game....

The survey is meaningless. The sample size is tiny, and polls only Jedi forum users (primarily disgruntled). Many Jedi on this forum feel that the CU was a nerf for them, but virtually anyone of any other profession will tell you that the CU made their profession and their game experience better by leaps and bounds. The CU killed the homgeneous TKM defense stacker templates, and though FOTM templates still exist, there is nothing as broken as the defense stacking mind bleed wars of the Pre-Cu days.

do a survey throught all servers, not only in the forum.. most player do not read or even post here
Therefore every player in-game would have to cast a vote. Of course theres a few ppl that werent around pre-cu so possibly this survey would only appear for those who have been playing longer than 5 months.
Thats how you get a proper opinion from all the players, but unfortunately we cant do that, would be nice to know though...

actually I hate the cu a lot more for reg profs than jedi so dont talk for other people will you
pre cu= best time I had using my pc
post cu= worst time I had using my pc
As a long time, returning player, all I can say is, CU combat is BORING compared to the old gameplay.
B-O-R-I-N-G
It takes alot less strategy, and although it may be more "balanced" (whatever that means), it has reduced all combat, PvE, and PvE to mind numbinly boring, point, click, and wait .
Watching televisions requires more braincells.
It's perfect for release on a console platform, but really has lost the need for playing on a PC at all.
Everything that made this game "unique" from other MMO's is gone.

I always have issues with people saying that. Sure, numbers don't lie, but the people who present and interpret them certainly do. Numbers can be and are coaxed and bent all the time.
I gave a score of 3 and 3 myself. I think people who believe pre-CU was some garden of delight are either delirious or never actually played it. They both have and had their own huge issues.

SOE now has a history of abandoning systems that were in place for much longer than 6 months. What makes you so sure they wouldn't do it again.
I'm not saying they will, I HIGHLY doubt they would, but you know next to nothing about what they will or will not do either. Don't pretend like you do - he11, they didn't tell you much when you WERE a corr, now you think you have the inside scoop now that you're just like everyone else. ![]()
Let people complain - It's what the internet is for.

You quoted the whole statement but you fail to take into consideration the second part of it. I didn't say they wouldn't abandon a system they have been working on for the last 6 months. I said they wouldn't do so to return to an older version of the code that was broken to begin with. If it hadn't been broken they wouldn't have ditched it for this system to begin with because the risk they took doing it was massive.
Complain all you want but I stick to my statement. No one is going to take your complaints seriously if your solutions are as unlikely as the idea of rolling back the CU. Its not going to happen.

The survey serves no purpose. The game is what it is now. If you want to push for changes feel free to do so, but no one is really going to take you serious if your ideas are abandon the last 6 months of development and return to a system that was broken. You can't go backwards like that in software development every change in the last 4 months has been written on a different platform. Focus on how to make things better instead of nostalgic waxing about a game system that is gone.
I see your point their about not going back to the old, but the old system seemed to work fine for me, I cant recall fixes to it every week because it was broken. I can hardly call the new system fixed either and in working order, thats why theres a load of changes to it every publish, and were still not finished.
Its not just the combat im talking about either, since CU a lot of problems and things have been broken. Small Eg, Tusken Bunker spawns inside do not agro or drop any loot even credits.
You cant stop people from discussing the old system, the way it was taken away without 2 thoughts, 80% of people disliking it and most still do. Maybe it cant be brought back, but I think the people here wouldve liked to see 6 months work repairing the old system rather than a new one that doesnt work properly itsself and isnt half as pleasing to play.
If you can tell me what was broken about the old system and what works in the new one id be happy to know.

I'm not sure if your forum registration date matches your game registration date, but assuming it is close, I'd say you didn't see enough, at all. Toward the end of 2004, they were working on the CU, and all requests for fixes were met with the respose, "Wait for the Combat Upgrade", and so they refused to make many fixes. Yet people complained and complained and complained about so many imbalanced things, DoTs, buffs, the mind pool, etc etc etc. So many things. I'm shocked at how many people have quickly forgotten how broken the old system was.
