Thread: Just the facts: Conversion from old to new. Important info please read
Clarifications: The Dev are currently treating 1 full FS line (4 boxes) as equal to 1 Jedi Skill box.
gleaning from a few threads these are the facts on the current conversion system for your Jedi into the New system.
Fact 1: TH said it would be a 1-to-1 system. Each current box will equal 1 new system box.
Fact 2: there are 52 (not counting Initiate or Master Jedi) boxes in the old system and only 47 in the new system (to reach Knight).
Fact 3: to be a Padawan in the new system you must have and keep 6 lines (24 boxes @ 1 skill point) of FS skills.
2 case studies:
2 people have documented their conversions from TC jedi to the current publish. These are TC jedi's not TC2.
Case 1: was Padawan in old system 17 boxes. On his conversion he got to choose 11 boxes plus 6 lines in the FS tree. 11+6=17
Case 2: was a 2-2-2-2 Initiate in old system. On his conversion he got to choose 2 boxes plus 6 lines FS tree. 2+6=8
so you can see that in an odd way it is infact a 1-to-1 system. Granted no documented cases of Guardians are currently listed and the Math does not carry once you get to that level but this is how it plays out with these two cases. We need more info from Higher up Jedi to complete this but for now most of us are initiates so this is very important info.
Fact 4: XP carries over to new system (so long as you do not reach the xp cap).
Given this new info those of you working on Apprentice may want to consider not training it yet and maybe carring that XP over with you. If your Apprentice box cost 3.5mil and it only counts as 1 box it may be far more useful as raw XP.
This sucks, but these are the current facts.
so to sum it up:
It is a 1-1 system but 6 boxes are used for the 6 lines of skills needed for FS. from there is looks like a straight conversion.
Issues we have with this so far:
1. We feel paying for FS boxes with Jedi boxes is not fair. We feel these boxes would have been earned during the Holo-Grind NOT after the holo-grind. So we should not have to pay for them with actual Jedi Boxes.
2. We are losing massive amount of XP in the conversion. Let up have a straight 1-to-1 XP exchange. Many of us would not mind 'paying' for the FS boxes if we paid for them in straight XP.
I'll list more issues as you all raise them.
Notes: Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for keeping this very important thread positive and constructive.

One point made in another thread was: What if you are a 0-0-0-0 initiate currently with 0xp. In the new you are to be a Padawan. How to you 'convert' those boxes?
clearly a lot more info is needed.
If i'm adding correctly Moge, then it appears a current 4444 Guardian will actually get one skill box less than they currently have. Due to the cost of skill boxes in the new system the maximum number of skill boxes you can gain is 45+6 FS lines for a total of 51 boxes, whearas the current Guardians have 52. So a 4344 Guardian is basically the same thing as a 4444 Guardian.
And this really will put a serious hurt on current initiates. If a 2222 Initiate gets nothing more than the 6 FS lines and basically one box in Sabers other than novice they will be at such a disadvantage they have no realistic chance of surviving. They'll have nothing more than a 1st Gen saber and some fairly crummy specials. These folks will have to go and grind out some regular professions to keep their Jedi survivable until they can level up a few more boxes in saber or whatever line they choose. Ouch.
I totally agree this is a nasty way to do things, but hey, at least you can't say the Devs lied - it is in fact a 1-to-1 system
Note: I joke becuase I dont want to cry :0

yeah it all seems to fit. The only missing link is what if you are a 0-0-0-0 Initiate. How to you 'pay' for your 6 lines?

This is in fact not the case.
When you pick your new skills, you HAVE to spend all your skillpoints, so you do not have to grind out anything.
Simply select the skills you want, it's a free ride.
I currently have the following skills:
Lightsaber 4/0/0/4
Force Defense 0/0/0/1
Teras Kasi Master
Fencer 4/0/3/0
Medic 2/0/0/0
And the 6 FS lines that I had to take, but can't remember now

that is ONLY becuase you qual'd for a Jedi Knight on TC2. When the conversion goes to live you will not get that 'free ride'
