Thread: No Lightsaber Certifications: Only Lightsaber Schematics

Why is everybody confused? We get the ability to CRAFT a 4th generation lightsaber at level 86 in the NGE. They took certifications out the game a long time ago and I'd be amazed if they put them back in their new console-friendly world. The only way would not be able to wield our current lightsabersis if they put "Required Level: 86" on them, whichI highly doubt. There are no weapon certifications anymore in the NGE besides combat level requirements.
Basically the+4th Generation Lightsaber abilityis confusing people. It lets you craft, not wield.

uhm..small news flash for you. if its anything like the weapons you receive in game from quest, it does have a level requirement. hell our current sabers have a level requirement.

Well, as of know, nobody can confirm or deny that there are combat level requirements on lightsabers. There might be none considering that Lighsabers are non-trade, so any Lightsaber you have must have been made by you. Therefore, you must have had the certification to make that lightsaber. In effect, those of us pre-exsisting Jedi might have all our lightsabers convert over with NO combat level requirements.
Basically, until somebody posts a screenshot with a Lightsaber CL requirement, I'll reserve my judgement.

i'm about... 15 levels away from being able to confirm or deny it, so we'll see. reserve your judgement, i'm just offering my opionion based on SOE Logic. They've already wiped a ton of weapons with these changes.. if they knew that the current system only allows you to go up to level 80 and that anyone could craft and use a 4th gen lightsaber as long as they were level 54, and we don't get the ability to craft them now until lvl 86. do the math. what do you think is going to happen? either the level requirement stays the same (which is good for us), it changes to 86..(we're screwed then) or they remove it (not likely..but you never know.).
We've seen SOE's version of converting weapons, and it gets worse each time, god.. i can't wait to see how my damage and my pearls convert over.

If there wasn't a cert on lightsabers, couldn't I respec to smuggler and use mine?

I dont know... my 50 -9 pearls converting to 120 -9wasnt so bad. My guess is that Pearls will only have the damage stat and the FC/Wound/Speed mods will fall off.

All weapons are based on Combat level and Profession. Im willing to bet that CL of 4th Generation Lightsabers will be CL86. So Cert or not we will not be able to use them.

glad i have my preCU 3rd gen laying around that somehow has better stats on the hilt than my preCU 4th gen hilts....figure that one out....lol

You better hope that's true because, in the TC I played, there were many weapons that had a level requirement.

Are you living on the same planet the rest of us are on? And that would be 100% of the Current Jedi, as we will be CL80 come judgement day. By the way, I have some great deals on Ocean front Condo's just outside Phoenix.

The other 1% are people who have other generation sabers.
Everybody likes saying the sky is falling, but lets give them a bit of credit. I wont believe CL86=4th Generation until I see it.

Rationalize it however you like. If you see a cert to make it at 86, it's effective required level to use is going to be 86. Unless we're going to have jedi "traders" now who make and sell sabers to other jedi,I see no reason why SOE would grant the schematic well beyond the point where you can technicallyuse one. Just makes no sense.
So, once again, for those of you unfamiliar with how SOE works historically (or are slow on the uptake), this kind of buggery is nothing new. SOE is bending folks over once again. Expect to lose your 4th gens.
