Thread: this would not have happened IF SOE HAD THOUGHT AHEAD

Cu killed all the crafting classes and ended the game's complexity. Yes, they needed to make combat harder than pre CU but the y key should have been in adding content. I'm finishing the grind on my second jedi now and wondering what to do after that. I am NOT going to do a third. I tried WoW for a feew days but was unimpressed. Everybody looks the same. lol. Maybe I should give it another chance.

simple...they made 1 and only 1 prefession end game....wow dumb idea

had they thought this through making jedi a selling point as content in the game would not have been so bad if they had made 3-4 end game "alpha" classes to choose from..granted majority would still be saber weildersbut only 60% of the total "alpha" classes would be jedi....imagine a 40% reduction in jedi.....

Yes, you are correct. The saddest part is that since soe has other mmorpg online at the same time as this, the most resources go toward the most profitable games. As swg drops in popularity, so will any matinance of this game which means that fixes come less while bugs come more. soe has really dropped the ball when it comes to a plan.

Totally agree.

I might even take it a step futher. Like I'd be willing to except a death penalty as a jedi, if I was immediately able to grind the uber BH alpha class (i.e. skipping the village like grind and wait). I think we would get a more realistic view of the balance in the game.

It would create an alpha group of players who could duke it and complain about balance and leave the plebians out of it.

Well, everquest 2 doesnt look better, you hardly meet any nubs there and matrix online is dieing extremely fast. So there is hope for SWG, at least until Battlefront 2 arrives, and honestly, iam fed up with all the work went intomy toon and what he finally can do..

one of the biggest problems i see comming up is the lack of noobs returning after the first month. a couple of noobs grinding outside on tat asked me what do I do after I grind these level two animals, when i told him level 3 animals...he replied is this the whole game? What could I say? Yes, you grind, grind, grind, then stop....never seen him again.

absolutly, a game cant live solelyof its canon, there needs to be game content at all, like big difficult and rewarding dungeons. Nothing like wasting 5 hours killing nightsister over nightsister over nightsister to have 50k credits and one good crystal for example.

Thats what SWG is lacking compared to very successfull games like WoW, the content/reward part. SWG means tons and tons of boring grind to get minimum 'content' at all.

The problems are too numerous to mention. They don't start with Jedi either.

The most intrinsic problem of the game is the fact that all of the Core Systems are dysfunctional. Read the list of Core Systems and I can point out a billion reasons why none of them are working. From Economy, to GCW, to Loot, to Player CIties.

SWG largely fails because the Core Systems thrived on complexity. Whether it was the HAM system or the GCW. These were complex systems and quite frankly very well thought out.

Where SOE failed is that it didn't listen to the player base as to how to enhance and improve these core systems. They started badly and limped along. Rather than fixing them, they then dumbed them down in the CU, killing ironically the very thing that made SWG better than other MMORPGS: crafting and combat queues in favor oftrying to attract more players who perhaps liked the simplicity of a WoW system.

Yes, the concept of Jedi was a real "topper". It didn't need to be if they actually had advanced the GCW and made Jedi its own combat structure, more of a shadow war.

But honestly, the game fails now IMHO because SOE never got the Core Systems to work right and have made matters far far worse post CU. Add to this a complete lack of communication by the Developers to the Player Base on how they intend to fix these core systems in the short term, and a focus on expansions that seem to accentuate how much work SOE has ahead of it to fix the game, and you have a recipe for disaster.

"we are aware of that"

"we cannot say"

"working as intended"

How can you say you've lived life if you've never danced?
Well I do remember Han having a one piece suit made out of carbonite but it weighed a ton. Still it didnt require any ironing and was very wear resistant.
Thanks SOE! The CU and NGE gave me my life back. Thanks! Bitterness is the taste of love lost, a tear of acid that burns the heart.
Long gone, in sorrow of song. Stand I make to deliver hope with twisted temporal past, for the ripples in time distort what affects when. Prowlies a must see Clicky!
As a dreamer I sing to the sea and imagine the possibilities and potential this game could free, but when I get home a sad sight there be. A lost fool, for once was is gone, what could've been to never be, and the angel of my heart to be forgotten, locked away by the key of SOE.

Actually, SOE made 2 major mistakes with regards to this game.

1) Making the path to jedi public knowledge.

2) Changing Jedi from its original state.

Both were catastrophic in regards to the game.

JEDI AND SITH ARE THE ONLY TWO ALPHA CLASSES EVER IN EXISTANCE IN THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE, PERIOD.

every other opposition relied equipment and superior numbers....and guess what? those avenues are open to anyone.

this is one of the few areas in which LA and SOE DID NOT drop the ball.

Jedi and SIth are Iconic...they define the star wars universe...yeah, smugglers, bh's, and even mandolorians are neat...but they're not alpha.

Jedi are prtrayed as the Alpha class, if they could make a more "advanced" BH like a jedi lvl BH so has to do a BH style village/holos (whatever) to gain power but just more than one alpha class
