I know sometimes the game lacks contecnt, but really you have to stop complaining. This game is what you make it, and yes you say its all grind grind grind, but thats only because you choose to grind. You could go playing the game normally but because you want to be the best you grind. I grind sometimes but alot of the time more fun can actually be had playing the game. If you dont want to grind why become a jedi?

I would love to sit here and say that the game is what you make it but this simply isn't true for SWG anymore. I agree with Uninformed here. The core systems are so flawed and there is such a lack of content, (I know you are gonna say there are plenty of things to do, but there are not enough things to do that have a worthwhile reward. Spending hours and hours to get a meaningless reward is not content) that you cannot make the game better for yourself. The game either doesn't allow for this, IE. bugs, exploits, etc. or it doesn't exist in the game IE. GCW, quests worth doing, items worth finding to better your character.

I still say the biggest problem with SWG is the system that allows players to achieve the highest level in 2 days. Their flaw was handing the ability to be powerful over to quickly. This combined with lack of content meant that in a sense you finished the game in 2 days. Maybe there were other things to try, but why? If everything could be maxed out in 2 days and there was no high end content worth finding, then there was no reason to do it anymore. This is what forces the controversy over jedi. Jedi is the last piece of high end playability for SWG customers. Everything else is simply not rewarding enough. No other MMO allows you to max a character out as fast as SWG and ALL other MMO's have at least double the content of SWG.

Hulke, how can you say such things? Just the other day I finished this awesome quest in Kashyyk and I got this super cool bantha head trophy that I can hang in my house! IN MY HOUSE!Now I login and just spend hours sitting there staring at it.. ... ...... .... ... .. ...... ... . ....

I dont know where you get 2 days from. It took me a month to master a double elite profession. You cannot determine how long it should take based on a power gamer that can level 2 elites by sitting in front of a computer for 24 hours over 2 days. That is simply not realistic for the majority of gamers, most of which have a life outside gaming.

you know, everyone breaks down the grind differently....does it matter if it took 12 days at 2 hours a day or 1 day grinding for 24 hours....we all dont have the same schedules. quit comparing what you think is normal to everyone elses grind. xp can only be gained one kill at at time so it doesnt matter at all how fast or how slow to get a mastery.

Jed_Xan and KRAKKEN

I beg to differ here. Time is everything in games like this.

The fact is a month is not long enough and 2 months is not long enough. What is there to do in a game once you cannot gain anymore skills? Oh thats right theres quests and loot........oh yeah they dont have that either.

A grind will always be part of a game but the grind is what SOE needs to manage better. The risk/reward system is the problem. You risk spending hours of your time to either get something meaningless or achieve something great so fast that there is nothing better to do after you get it.

The number of hours you spend must be managed with the rewards you receive. For example skills you learn, quests you finish, loot you find.

I stopped reading after you say they don't have quests or loot in the game. I think you must be playing some other game.

What WoW does so incredibly well is to make people want to adventure and explore, to find items of unique quality that are hard won, not just bought off your local vendor.
WoW made a conscious decision that Questing is the key to a successful game. Personally speaking, I agree. Here's why.
A game needs to have a goal. A result. A purpose. You "win" in WoW a number of different ways. You win in PvP by gaining Honor and unique items. You win in PvE by defeating NPCs/Beasts and getting unique items. You can then enhance many of these through the Profession system. But the sense of accomplishment is very real.
In comparison, SWG is a dry gulch. Why?
Because there is no real reward to any quest. Because "questing" is largely going to an ATM and selecting a mindless mission. There is no need to grind in WoW because you are lead along somewhat linearly, although there are Class specific quests as well.
Similarly, PvP can be boring because, aside from the lag, there is no sense of accomplishment recognized by the game other than a meaningless rating system.
And don't even get me started on Faction. Faction right now is pointless, unless you like dotting the countryside with bases.
SOE could make this game great if it didn't try to copy WoW's UI and combat system, but rather what makes it great: meaning and purpose.

Wow, the truth hurts. This post hurt.. Thanks. I think I just canned my lasy accouny finally and there is no need for more then one account in WoW.

one of the biggest problems i see comming up is the lack of noobs returning after the first month. a couple of noobs grinding outside on tat asked me what do I do after I grind these level two animals, when i told him level 3 animals...he replied is this the whole game? What could I say? Yes, you grind, grind, grind, then stop....never seen him again.

lol thats SWG in a nut shell...grind grind grind...and when youre done with that grind grind grind some more. What else is there to do. Quests that give xp would be cool but then again ive seen lots of great ideas to make the game more fun on these forums.

Too often players and the devs have a mindset that professions should be balanced with 1 on 1 pvp in mind. This mindset is ruining the game. The benchmark for balance should be determined by the role a profession plays in a group setting. As long as the current mindset continues we will never see uniqueness among the professions, nor will we ever see individuality within a given profession. We will never see the SWG universe expanded as the focus will only ever be balance pass after balance pass after balance pass.

I'm sorry it does. We've all tried to get their attention on these problems and they have been largely ignored.

simple...they made 1 and only 1 prefession end game....wow dumb idea

had they thought this through making jedi a selling point as content in the game would not have been so bad if they had made 3-4 end game "alpha" classes to choose from..granted majority would still be saber weildersbut only 60% of the total "alpha" classes would be jedi....imagine a 40% reduction in jedi.....

You are SO on the wrong board mr. Troll head.

I can't even take your post serious after reading your name, seeing you post this on the Jedi board, and the utter ignorance of your logic. If they made 4 alpha characters with the same amount of grinding involved, it would be same thing, all the none alpha's would **Mod Bot - Be Nice** about seeing the alpha's dominate PvP or otherwise. You could say there currently are 4 alphas Mdefender, MLS, MPowers, MEnhancers, or you could call them Tigers, Rats, Bananas, and Tacos...whats the difference? You'll still have people who are weaker bitching and moaning.

Secondly, a MSwordsman/Doc IS AN ALPHA character, and many uber MCM combos ARE ALPHA classes....

Do you even play this game?

Jedi are just cooler cuz we know we put in the time baby
