Thread: Powers whining about alpha attack

It costs quite a bit of force to rebuff.
I don't understand the title. Isn't breach a powers skill? Why would a powers person whine about their own skill?

but thats exactly what pvp, a pissing contest, its whoever can last the longest and deal the most damage in order to drop their opponent first. No template should have an "i win" button.

I'm still waiting for a powers based jedi FOTM to surface and stomp out everything else. Does breach work on reguler ole doc buffs?
Unless things have changed no it doesn't remove food or doctor buffs. Additionally asposted above any Powers Jedi who has breach can use it to "attempt" to remove force buffs / protection from other Jedi; however, there is no cool down placed on the reuse of the removed buff to prevent reapplication. Most buffs / protection cost minimal considering that Force Breach is still a 1 in 4 attach where it has chance of working and a extremely slim chance of removing more than 4 items off a player at a time. At 150 force cost per use and a 2.5 second cycle time (1 second attack, 1.2 second animation)it's something that isn't taken lightly by Powers Jedi during fights.
Add to this mix any Jedi with aura in their build will lower the success of an incoming Force Breach by 50 - 80% thanks in part to the force defense line being found in one of the, if not most dabbled, lines of Defender. This isn't to say that Force Breach isn't useful; however, it's by no means the sole reason why a wielder has the "alpha attack".

Force breach is alot more useful that people give it credit for.
d-pyro and force accuracy mods and general ranged accuracy mods really help out landing that breach when you need to.
Haven't done testing on this, but it also seems to hit more often when your around 28- 32m from your opponent. not sure if it's just me but powers attacks seem to land more often on defenders the farther you are from them.
I would test but i'm a lazy **edit** ![]()

seems like cloak fs2 + lair crystal would help out a lot with the alpha strike.

Have those, the lair crystal doesn't add enough damaeg to a true Powers template.
When I say "true powers" I mean a template where Powers is the only offensive skills we have.
As for breach...
1. It generally costs us more force to breach than it generally does to reapply the buffs.
2. What it debuffs is random, if anything at all.
3. Doesn't debuff food, med stuff, cm stuff, sl stuff, drinks, and item buffs. Also doesn't work on stuff like avoid incap and other skills.
As for the alpha strike... Even if everything is debuffed a "true" Powers template doesn't have the DPS capability to do anything.
Seems like Powers is working best for Jedi with Sabers. Master Powers, alone, doesn't seem to be pulling its weight.

yea a true powers template is lacking in dps, i'm more thinking of powers templates with lightsabers. It's hard to tweak powers. If powers gets a substantial damage increase it would help out the powers only offensive templates but it would probably let the mp ls templates carve a path of destruction.

I guess the emperor might be helping me out, lately i've been knockingalmost all force enhancements. Not sure if range makes any difference but I usually breach when i'm at least +10m away from my opponent.

yea i wish it would but to many people would scream out lol.

I can't argue with that, powers alone is not enough for damage. still make powers do more damage and the ls powers jedi will be chaos. I feel ls and powers should be a devastating offense, but that's just me.
