Thread: My Proposal for a NEW FRS with a 3 tier system
***DISCLAIMER***
ALl these ideas have been suggested before, I have not seen them consolidated before. With that in mind please give me constructive criticism. Thanks.
With everyone talking about the upcoming FRS here are my hopes for it (as far as faction and PvP go)
Ihope they give dark and light jedi their own faction and arehave the option of being overt to each other(like SF is in the GCW).Now, This overt or SF-like stsus would be completly seperate of the GCW. Dark jedi will not be imps but DARK, separate of imperials.Light jedi willconversely be LIGHT not rebel. I also, hope they DON'T allow us(jedi) the ability to enter the GCW at all. No jedi has ever entered (and fought in) the ground GCW (w/ the exception of vader). This removes jedi from the GCW conflict and restores PvP to the normal, not elite classes. Every jedi has an alt that they enter into the GCW.
ADDED
I did not make this clear in my first attempt at this post. I don't thik that forced PvP should be the way to level in the new FRS. You should not be forced to PvP to enjoy the FRS. I think that the an overt system to the opposite faction would be fun and exciting but should not carry consequences in the FRS leveling process. Also, If there were a way to declare your light/dark side faction(much like the current on leave/ combatant/ spec force GCW system) this would satisfy the PvE jedi. Here are my thoughts on leveling in my vision of a new FRS.
A jedi that has completed the Knight trials and entered the FRS has 3 options:
On leave ( insert a catchy, jedi-type name), basically this is the same as on leave for the GCW. Jedi can not gain FRS XP while in this state jedi. Jedi will lose FRS XP forrank maintenanceonly. When you die in PvE or PvP you will automatically be set to this status.
PvE mode (again, insert a catchy jedi word). While in this status you are not attackable by opposite aligned Faction players(Light/Dark) , you are however, attackable by opposite Faction NPCs (this would require the DEVs to add Dark and Light Factional NPCs). While in this mode you can gain FRS XP by doing missions (FS Misison terminal) and completing certain quests. While in this mode you will lose FRS XP for rank maintenace and PvE deaths only.
PvP mode (once again, add a starwarsy name). This is similarto theGCW Special Forces Mode. You are attackalbe by opposite aligned NPCs and Players. You can gain FRS XP by doing missions (FS mission terminal), completing quests and by killing opposite alligned players. This FRS XP gained by killing players would be minimal at best and have a hard cap per day and rank. You will lose FRS XP for any death (PvE and PvP) and rank maintenace.
The biggest thing I want to occur with the new FRS is risk and consequences for a Jedi Death. At the Level of "Knight" you are no longer a Padawan and shouldn't be treated like one. You are held to a higher standard and have higher rewards and consequences.
With this 3-tier system each and every jedi that enters the FRS has a choice. If you want to level your jedi in the FRS by PvE alone, you can. If you desire PvP you can also level up that way.
Now, there would have to be strict coding to avoid Fight Clubbing and exploitation.
I alsothink it would be great if the Devs gave us a place/planet to have Jedi Vs Jedi PvP battles. They could make it so every jedi that lands on Yavin isautomatically set to "PvE" status. You could then goto your enclave/pvp area andset yourself to PvP mode . By setting every jedi to "on-leave" this avoids load killing/load ganking oppositly aligned jedi that land on the planet.
Ok, my thoughts for the pvp area/arena are similar to the enclaves. Light jedi enter on one side and Dark jedi enter on the other side. Each entrance is protected by jedi sentinels of the aplicialbe faction(DARK or LIGHT). Now, once the jedi have entered into their respective sides they would have to make their ways to the entrance of the pit. There would be a control that would allow the highest ranking knight present to designate who get's to enter the pit. the option would be to allow a 1 v 1, 3 v 3, 10 v 10 and so on, the last option would be a no limit match. Obviously there would have to be some serious coding and thought put into the implementation of this to avoid either a stall tactic on either side or exploiting. If after the 3rd attempt each side can't decide on thenumber of participants or details of the fightto enter the "pit/arena" then it would be a no limit match. After the details are decided upon each side is allowed to enter to a certain point but is blocked by an "unknown force." Once all participants are in the arena the timer starts to count down from 30. At 0 each side can then attack. Now If anyone has ever entered an enclave the know the thought process I'm going for... There would be a viewing area for spectators (only other knights) to watch. Each viewing section would be baclony style seating, would be seperated from the pit and other jedi by an invisible force wall(similiar to the wall at the village minus the fog). There would be no rezzing after a deathblow( including MENH's self rezes)
What do these changes accomplish?
A) Most obviously it removes jedi completly from the GCW. (every jedi has an alt that they can use to do GCW missions).
B)It takes jedi and moves them out of the public eye i.e. no battling in theed.
C) Restores PvP to the other, non jedi, classes.
D) Makes jedi battle jedi only. The way, IMO, it sould be!
E) if they were to move the LIGHT and DARK enclaves entrance to say only 500m apart. They could add the PvP area/arena onto the enclave. This would give the enclaves a point and purpose instead of just a place to petition for rank.
F) Gives PvE and PvP jedi alike a way to level in the FRS.
Anyway, these are my thoughts and hopes for the upcoming FRS. SOE has had plenty of time to implement a worthwile and exciting FRS, let's just hope they spent their time wisely.
/DISCUSS.

Now, if onlythey'd implement it!
Not a bad idea, however I disagree with the removal from the GCW.. did you ever watch the Clone Wars mini series from Cartoon Network? Jedi were involved. This game has fallen away from the story of the movies (lets face it, it is a game and our actions changed the story) thus I don't see why jedi should not be involved. There will be plenty of jedi on both sides, so this should not really concern non jedi.. as jedi will be more worried about other jedi and not ganking non jedi. There is so much to the star wars universe that we have not seen or read, our imagination is pretty much the limit.
As for the Light/Dark class having nothing to do with what faction you are in, I think that would be awsome. I think force rank should not involve howmany non-jedi you can kill, this would also take the focus off ganking non jedi.

I'm not trying to be a sticklar but I said GCW, not clone wars ( i know nothing in the game follows the movies). There is a huge difference in the 2. Also, jedi will have theirown war. They will be participating in their own Jedi war.
My point for removing jedi from the GCW is to get new people involved in PvP. To get it back to the oldPvP style. Also, this opens up the possibility of getting the once lost power restored(this is not my focus for the thread, just a pnother possible upside). We are no longer beating up on non-elite class temps. we are killing other elite class players. Just a thought.
Ohh, thx for the constructive posts thus far! ![]()

heres hoping any way.
Some guy named luke skywalker had something to do with the GCW, i think he like blew up a space station or something, kinda fuzzy on the details though. There was that emperor too.
I dont see any reason jedi should not be able to participate, however i do like the idea of perma overt once you get knight, but make knight mean something as well.
