Thread: Root should be removed from any profession other than Jedi.

Or altogether for that matter - So the rest of the community doesn't go crazy. What is a "root" from a gun. Sure, I know SOE likes taking things from WoW, such as Entangling Roots from the druid profession which roots come out of the ground, and well - root you. This makes sense. How does a gun "root" you? Now, In my personal opinion, the Jedi root can make sense. It uses the force to "stop your opponent." But the others don't. Discuss please. No Flames.

The whole concept of rooting is absurd in SWG. I like the idea of snares but rooting make no sense.

I don't like root at all but if you are going to remove it from ranged you need to remove it all together as well. Root was put in place of supression fire in the CU. It is supposed to be an attack that pins people down but it was much better when such specials simply changed your posture instead of rooting you. Snare is ok because it does not make you completely usless but root should be removed imo. Cloak also should be removed though or put on par with rifleman's cover so there are a lot of things in this game that need fixing.

as for guns doing a root, well maybe they shot you in the leg and you fall down for a minute holding it. i dont think your moving very far till you get back up if that happen.

I think your taking the term for what happens "root" too literally. Would you rather they call it pinned? As in pinned down by gun fire? The ability is fine, snare is what you should be worried about not root.

Not only am I going to report you for going way off-topic, but I'm going to shove your nonesense back into your face, kid. First of all, calling me an idiot was uncalled for. I am proposing an idea that makes perfect sense and you are afraid to lose it. I don't mind losing my root skill, I was proving a simple point that your "root" doesn't make sense. Ours does, but I am still willing to lose it. Jedi risk coming into this thread? Who said anything about that. Can anyone say troll? Can anyone say "afraid to lose a skill?" Get over it. I'd be glad to have risk, if there was reward. Bring back skill loss or anything else for that matter, but I expect reward. Your assumptions only make you look more like a 10 year old. Your understanding of "root" is what snare is for. Your whole post is meaningless and I hope you see that now.

Crying about something? I don't mind getting rooted. I'm trying to get a basic understanding of what it is meant to be. Snare makes perfect sense but certainly not root; From a gun anyway.

I think root is plausible from a gun but that would have to be a perma-root. Sense blowing out your knee caps would make you unable to move at all unless you got medical help. A shot in the leg is more like a snare.


I don't think root should be removed but have roots and snares have over-lapping cool downs/anger/rage so theres a timeframe in somewhere that you can catch up to your kitting opponent

well isn't obvious, root is where you look at your gun and then click it too stun and then shoot it at someone and they like magic a state appears in front of your eyes telling you how long it will be there , dur!

root should be a melee profession ability, not ranged. jedi should be the only profession who can apply root or snare up to 32 meters. non jedi melee professions should be able to root and snare withintheir normal range. ranged professions should not be able to root and snare at all.


the complete removal of root and snare from the game would be an overall improvement.
