there is nothing wrong with force run the way it is now.
if you gave the option of choosing FR1, 2 or 3 we would see everyone switching to Menhancer.
the damage reduction and inability to choose is the price you pay for being faster than anyone in the game.
I dont think so people would not like the defense however making FR damage reduction outthat might result in ppl going ME

No you were never able to choose. However, there was no difference in them except how fast you were(no damage reduction).

pre cu, its was possible to use all lower level moves by choice, i used to use fr1 for terrain nego and fr2 for escape, saberthrow 2 for pve and saberthrow 3 for pvp, dervish 1 for grinding, dervish2 for pvp.

We've been asking for this since the CU. Before the CU youcould use the different versions.
They haven't done it and apparently have no plans to do it. I hate to be rude, but I can only conclude that they don't know HOW to code it so the three are separate and so that's why they haven't done it. I don't know why this would be so difficult. You could split the skill into separate versions, like force walk, force jog and force run or something.

You SHOULD be able to use lesser skills. This should be true for all attacks and commands, such as Force Run.

FR is one of the most dissapointing things ever to me. Grinding out ME just to watch someone with FR 1 be able to run circles around me because of the damage reduction incurred with FR3
..So happy I gound out the 3.2 mil for that box

This is an unfortunate game mechanic for several powers attacks too. My take on it is that the devs developed the CU to automatically upgrade to "better" specials and remove the options to use "lesser" ones without taking into account the few "lesser" specials (jedi mainly) that might actually be desired even when the "better" ones are learned. I remember this being brought up right after the CU and someone (Tiggs, TH, someone) said they would mention it to the team. Then later on I remember seeing something about how it was an intended "tactical choice." Personally, it seems like its laziness(or just poor prioritization) of the team unwilling to modify the system for a few special cases where it would make sense to allow these "lesser" moves to be used.
