Thread: State of the Jedi Profession: NGE Conversion
Totally agree about the role playing comment. I have played battlefront, battlefront 2, counterstrike(all upgrades up to source), halo, halo2, all sorts of fps shooter games. Quickly after playing these I would quit within a month or two because I guess im lacking the ability to move a mouse as fast as a can to my target and click away. That is why I loved this game so much, it wasn't about how quick your fps reflexes were, it was about DEVELOPING your character, creating the best template for your style play. Increasing your weapon, armor and attacks effectiveness. Now, it has turned into a "glorified battlefront2". That is the kindest thing I can say about it. This is a whole new game, at least the first combat upgrade kept the same professions and skill trees. I don't have fun spamming a button on my mouse quicker than my apponent, any 8 year old with 1 finger and an eye could do that. All I can say is, I loved this game Pre-cu, enjoyed it post-cu, and will be sorry to see it go post-nge. Idon't give this game till end of next summer, I mean, honestly, what is going to keep the new players playing? There is no end game or anything to grind on once you complete your profession, you cannot collect profession badges because you have to delete your character and create a new one just to get into a new profession unless you have respecs. Total disgrace, just wondering how this will affect there ps3 sales.

The way I see it the new jedi isnt balanced. My guess is Devs are gunshy with jedi because int he past Jedi have been powerful, and now they have done the oppisite to us. We are a step above trades combat wize. Lets recap what we have lost in the name of balance
1. any form of innate armor. Our only defense is a cnerter of being that we have to queue up and use instead of a special attack.
There are already forms of TK innate Armor still in the game via skill mods given during Jedi Progression. It can easily be added to the Elder robes or even passed throughout the Jedi skill tiers.
2. loss of effective root ability so we cant hold targets in place even for 5 seconds. this means we have to chase them all over h3ll and back to hit them. meanwhile getting kited. we have saber block you say? yes but guess what, if we use it we have to key ti up into our "specials" slot and thus no center of being or special attacks. This means Jedi is dogmeat in any pvp situation
Its pretty hard to hit someone you cannot catch, thats for sure. Espically when trying to heal because we are taking twice as many shots from ranged professions that we can deal out. (Ranged profession can hit 4 times per second, root and snare as well. Melee profession can hit 2 times per second, only snareing along the way, and while trying to catch your target and heal at the same time.)
3. our pearls and crystals we spent months gathering, killing for and speding millions of credits on are now dust. They are equivelent to a good pearl you can loot off a meatlump.
This was hours and hours of time spent hunting these weapon enhancers to have them converted yet again (now 4 times; 200max, 50max, 110/120max,and now 14).
4. and lastly our actual wepaon damage. We cant even seem to autofire in this new version so we have to click every single attack. our attacks max speed is 2 attacks per second, while ranged get autoattack of 4 times per second. not to mention a ranged gun is twice the damage of a converted lightsaber. twice damage times twice the speed means the ranged folks will crank out 4 times the damage into our unarmored bodies.
With the lack of roots we will be chasing our opponents down with only the ability to slow them down, not stop them. We will be taking 4 times the amount of damage that we can dish out, and trying to heal while we do it. Where is the balance in this?
This is the deathknoll for this popular star wars class. When new players come they will find it not onyl difficult to just play, but down right weak. it will be nothing like Kotor, or jedi outcast or any other game involving jedi. For goodness sakes SOE at least balance us. Im not asking to be more powerful, I just want a fighting chance!

This situation is intolerable. I'm not even going to get started on the interface which seems to require precision twitch skills on a clunky psudo two dimentional world. Could we be any LESS "mysterious"? Our sad Jedi Elder bodies will litter the streets murdered by the roving bands of meatlumps. Not a pretty picture. We lose more every patch and now you reduce the game to a "Duck Hunt" style control-set.
Everyone I know and care about in the game has said they're moving on to other games. I'm lonely already and I'll miss the RP and PvP. A couple of days ago when I started getting word of the poor controls, the bad Jedi conversion results, no XP transfer, no armor, the fact that we have to continue grinding, and that any class can rise to level 90, I started to fear this was the end that others had yelled about so many times, but unless something changes soon, this time the doomsayers may be correct.
All I can say is "I have a bad feeling about this..."

I am no jedi but have loved to hunt them over the years and man i can really say that they have really screwed the pooch here.
Wow....that statement on the current situation made me proud to have you as our Correspondant. Thanks for saying it just like it is.
They obviously intend to solve the "Jedi Problem" by making it an unplayable template.
That is sad for us, sad for SWG, and sad for all the new players who think they are going to one daybe Darth Maul or Luke Skywalker.
Others have offered suggestions for changes. I'll just add my support to those that want us to be a combat and RP class worthy of the iconic heros in Star Wars.
So I suppose I should actually be thanking SOE. I'm in college atm and don't have time for much besides class work as it is, so I'll finally be getting the excuse I need to stop playing this game.
