And here we see the true nature of the Jedi. "Lightsabers should cut through everything!!!!!!!" All these Jedi want to win in one hit and one hit only, calling on aspects of the movie that fit what they want, ignoring that blaster bolts killed people, including Jedi, in one shot as well.

When the devs instated LS damage, the power levels were reduced to make up for the difference, so it was balanced. The devs at the CU said they were removing LS damage so that sabers were more easily balanced in the system as a whole.

Um... did you say, "ALL these Jedi...?" Did you even bother reading the three posts I added to this discussion -- the ones where I expounded on a "balanced" approach to the game, and where I went to great effort to make the distinction between movies and a multiplayer game as entertainment forms, or did you just skim the original post and jump to this conclusion? /shrug... I was hoping those who were reading and contributing to this thread would take at least some notice of what I was trying to say.

You know what I'd really like, if anyone can do a statistical analysis for me? I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison of a lightsaber with four typical "Good" crystals (i.e., -2 to -4 force cost, -0.02 to -0.20 speed, and maybe +35 to +75 to damage)to a "good" PvP-grade T-21 rifle and a "good" PvP-grade power hammer. The scuttlebutt in the Bria PvP community seems to be that most lightsaber wielders are significantly outclassed by their counterparts. And for extra credit, maybe some insights into how the enhanced accuracy of a typical dual-mastery template affects the picture, since lightsaber masters don't have the luxury of a second melee profession to bolster their accuracy.

But again, the botton line is, Jedi right now are NOT uber -- the way I see it, barring access to a grade of pearls and crystals that currently are extinct in-game, Jedi seem to not even be competitive. I really don't think anyone in this thread is advocating what you are saying they are. There is a world of difference between the straw man you've constructed and what the others in this thread are saying. But even if you feel some of the people are going to the extreme you say they are, I can only respectfully point out my own basic points, first of which is that I feel that other players should expect to have to put (roughly speaking) as much work into their toons to defeat a Jedi as the player who developed the Jedi toon. Maybe that means developing a whole new category of beyond-Elite-Master skill trees (which was apparently batted around a bit at this past summer's Fan Fest), or developing tools like cortosis-impregnated armors that are very rare and take a long time to find and/or learn to fabricate. But the starting point of a balanced, satisfying Star Wars game starts with creating Jedi that feel like Jedi, and then building the rest of the professions up in such a way as to compete with that baseline -- and to be comparable in the effort required to reach that level.

I wanna say yes, but logic dictates no. Multiple damage types are what really got us into so many problems that the nerfherders keep getting their way.

No to LS damage type.

Yeah, I said "all these" referring to the people who said exactly what I quoted, and that evidently does not include you, though you get close. I didn't get that from skimming the first post, but rather reading the entire thread and seeing people say nothing should resist sabers, not even PvE creatures, and the talk about people dying from one hit from a saber. Or did you just skim the first post and not read the rest? This is what many Jedi want - it's why many people became Jedi - to be as uber as possible. If Jedi are so terribly awful, why do we see them doing so well nonetheless the majority of the time?

I say Yes for PvE and No for PvP.

I think it help balance PvP (which was the intent) but totally screwed people grinding. It take sooo much longer to clear a lair because of the double nerf. Saber damage sucks now AND a lot of it is resisted.

Yes. A jedi's lightsaber beam isn't a physical element, it's energy so something like armor shouldn't be able to stop it. However, certian things like a shield generator or someone'sinnate armor's would help.
