Thread: Jedi vs BH Cybernetic Fun!
Whether you like the suggestion or not there is a good point here.
There is absolutely NO incentive for the Jedi to fight the BH.
BH's whine about Jedi's running, cloaking, using house etc.
But if a Jedi engages and wins they get nothing and the BH loses nothing and if the Jedi loses they lose xp and the BH gains credits.
Having no incentive for the Jedi to engage the BH leads to both professions not being satisfied.

Episode 1: Starts on Naboo, Two Jedi there... Qui Gon and Obi Wan..
later goes to Mos Entha on Tattooine... Three Jedi there... Qui Gon, Obi Wan, Darth Maul, with one force sensitive, Anakin.
Then goes to Couroscant... MANY Jedi there.
Ends back on Naboo, Three Jedi there, Qui Gon, Obi Wan, and Maul, with one force sensitive (Anakin) And they are in the Theed Starport, no less.
Point is, EVERY movie, anytime they show a city, there is at least ONE Jedi there... point me out one city that they show in any of the movies where there ISN'T a jedi?
I don't agree with this idea at all.
The idea is good but if this idea goes through, a month down the line when Jedi still die (because yes, we're not all muppets who can't hunt and moan about house-hiding) some genius will come out with :
"Thats not enough of a drawback to my 200k xp I lost, lets take it another step"
I wish you had just said "when a bh fails a mission they lose what they would have gained"
that is ALMOST a good solution! There is but one flaw...
paddies will still be ganked enmasse
Lets help the paddies!
Make it an inverse proportion, so...
If a BH fails to a 40K paddie, they lose the 225K of a full knight
a 150K jedi would lose them 150K
if they lose to a full temp, they lose nothing
and all the values inbetween there get it?
Ok how about instead of a monetary cost to remove the limb its an Investigation xp cost.
1000 investigation to remove the limb?
Or some equivelent based on difficulty of mission?
Gives the BH reason to take normal missions from time to time?

I do think there needs to be SOME reasonable explanation why the cost of a cybernetic part would be different for this removal than the removal of any other part.
Here is the best reason I can can come up with. Your Bounty Employer..... Don't you think the NPC, Faction, Hutt, or whoever it was that gave you your Bounty mission in the first place, might not be just a bit on the less that happy side with you for your failure?? I mean after all they are the ones paying you to do your job in the first place. And, as a result of your failure.... they impose this higher cost removal of the cybernetic, thats why it is different than your average Joe-Player prosthetic. We don't want you to answer to us Jedi for your failures... we want you to answer to your own bosses and see how happy they are with you
Dlek
The Original Trilogyare Episode's 4,5 & 6.
The only Jedi to appear in a city in those movies was Obi-wan, briefly passing through Mos Eisley on his way off planet.
Luke did appear in Cloud City but it could be argued he wasn't a Jedi at that point. Vader was there but he's a Sith Lord.
The films you listed in your post are Episodes 1,2 & 3 which came considerably after the Original Trilogy and are basicaly prequels to Star Wars.
This game is set between Episodes 4 & 5 although looking at it some days I really have to wonder.

Nope, my employer wouldn't be unhappy, for several reasons.
1. They don't know I took a mission. It was given to the BH guilds who put it on the terms. It's like a wanted poster. I tear down the poster and give it a shot. If I win, I show the guy who put the bounty out. If I lose, I ain't telling no one, b/c I'm dead.
2. Which makes more sense? Put a bounty out on a Jedi and just wait for the first BH to collect, or put a bounty out on the Jedi, then follow the Jedi around and put a bounty out on every BH who fails to kill him. It just isn't good business to harbor a grudge against someone who failed and died. What would be more likely to happen is that the Bounty would increase on the Jedi, to try and lure better BH into the fray.
3. Even if the person placing the jedi bounty knows I fail, they didn't pay me up front. I don't collect until after I win. They lose NOTHING when I fail. It's not like when the BH went after Han. Han lost something that belonged to Jabba. He cost Jabba money. Jabba therefore wanted him dead. I've cost no one money, time, effort, etc., therefore there is no reason to have me punished.

maybe cause it was severed by a saber and not anything else?
The way I replace a body part is by having it (or myself) cloned and then reattached. So let's say I lose my arm to a saber, and it does something special to me, and then I get outfitted with a special arm to compensate. Well, instead of paying off someone way to much to have it fixed, I get a doctor of questionable scruples and have him take my arm off somewhere past the wounds, thereby making the wound to heal and attach the cloned part to NOT a saber wound.

As much as I value your step by step evaluation of how Jedi's get on the BH Terminals... I think you will find that your post has fallen on deaf ears. We ( as Jedi ) are very aware of how we get on the terminals, and the process that leads to it. When will some of you understand.... this is not intended to be a punishment for BH's...By the way... as far as having the task of finding Jedi to hunt on the terminals... Do you honestly find that a difficult thing to do??
I can understand that BH's fear losing something for thier failed missions... whether it's a limb, money, skill points, or anything else... I value and appreciate the BH profession, and I am not promoting that you get nerfed or whatever else some others think.
This is as clear as I can be about this post... A BH has an ability that no other profession will ever have in this game, they get to hunt and kill a real live player in-game (not a mindless NPC) and change the entire corse of that players gaming experience. I recognise this aspect of the game as a Jedi and I welcome it with open arms. I have not once in this post claimed that eigther profession was harder or easier than the other. All I want is a little more immersion for the BH vs Jedi encounters... I do not think that asking for some risk is that much to ask of the BH's. If you think that your hunt takes sooo long, and you spend too much money on it, and you stalk for hours - minutes - or weeks, then become some other profession and let the devoted BH's bring some real content to your profession. We are not taking anything from you.... no skill points, no investigation tree boxes, not anything... just a silly cybernetic arm / leg that you need to pay to remove. THATS all... so maybe not 200k per limb... but like maybe 20k per limb.... I mean after all, if you wear taking a bounty for the Empire and failed... they would not so forgiving
Can't finish the thread right now, but felt I needed to comment. I'll read whats left later.
Although I completely agree with your claimed motive behind it (to be honest, I can't and won't shake the idea that it is however an attempt to penalize bounty hunters unnecessarily, much like the concept that BH should be on the terminals despite not actually causing their contractors to lose anything) I do think that the suggestions are a bit much. The negative penalty of the limbs themselves combined with ANY cost to remove them would be a penalty by themselves. Suggesting costs as high as a full template jedi (whether equal to the jedi you take, or in reverse like many have suggested - and I whole heartedly agree with that concept) will only add fuel to an already obsurd fire. Like tanks has suggested though, a 10% (or even 15%) fee using the reverse princible brought up would definitely bring penalty without being SUCH a penalty that the concept of doing our intended job becomes infeasable. I think many MANY BH would agree that we would rather not have to pay more than a single jedi mission, even of the lowest variety, especially when we DO have to continue purchasing things just like jedi continue to purchase pearls and crystals in that ever undying desire to have a saber that doesn't cause less damage than a dildo, and yet could be used for the same purpose. I don't know about other BH, but I picked up jedi hunting to make money not because of the fact that I can take on paddies for reletively easy bank, but because I can't honestly ever see myself doing crafting and actually staying sane. Some people dig it, but honestly for $15 a month I'd rather put a CDEF in my mouth, angle upward and squeeze.
Also, someone brought up swoops by the crate. It should be worth mentioning the lowest cost:swoop ratio come in crates of 50 and is 10,000:1 here on starsider, and those are from a single person whos probably already rich, and I've heard they're minimum health. Thats a minimum investment of 500k. I currently have 467k as a starting BH. Jedi aren't the only ones prone to losing a speeder in a confrontation, just food for thought.
