Thread: You are NOT entitled to be Ubber

maybe an analogy here will help....
You start a job with a company. You take on particularly tough assignments hoping for a great promotion and raise. You accomplish this and your boss decides to reward your hard work with a brand new company car. You are so excited to show off that shiny new corvette cause its faster than everyone else' boring old station wagons.
Anyway a new guy starts to work for your company. He notices your shiny new corvette and asks how he can get one. You explain that you spent many months and many lonely nights on projects to get it. He then proceeds to whine to everyone that he wants AND deserves the same car.
Of course in the real world everyone laughs at this fool. And then tell him if he wants everyone to be on equal (balance) footing then he should move out of country. Specifically, move to a communist country where those ideals are sacred. Here in the free world we reward effort.
Translation, stop whining and go out and farm for 8 months like i did (and still only have one perfect pearl)
You're examples are so full of errors.
Equality is the hallmark of free, democratic society. Maybe read your national documents for a change. The point is the opportunity to excel and accomplish on EQUAL FOOTING, not some sense of entitlement. It seems to me you're the one who wants to be entitled because you "worked harder" on "tougher jobs". Fine, let others have an opportunity to show they can do the tough jobs and accomplish.
And, again, 8 months of killing krayts will net you (with the current system) ZERO pearls above "good". Get the difference?

Im so sick of the whining about the lack of flawless / premium pearl drops. Where does it say in this game that everyone is entitled to them ? Where does it say everyone should be equal ?
The main problem isnt lack of drops, its the younger generations belief system. I am thoroughly versed in how they think having done extensive market research and focus groups on this generation since they started spending money. They believe that they are entitled to everything. Its their right to win at everything and have everything. The problem is they dont understand that only effort equals reward. Somewhere down the line when mommy and daddy gave them one too many gifts for getting C's on their report card they assumed this misconception.
So let me fix this misconception for you...
You are not entitled to rule every game. In fact in mmorpgs only a small few, maybe 1% ever get that elite sword or super rare armor piece. Jedi are no different. There will and should be some that simply will always beat you.
Effort equals reward. Just like in real life folks, effort means small or big rewards. In the case of SWG, if one started playing since launch and worked hard grinding and hunting those nasty krayts they obviously deserve to rock. Lets not forget how difficult krayts were back then, sometimes taking 45 minutes to take one down with no guarantee of a pearl drop (or a good tune for that matter). These jedi have been playing the game longer, and therefore SHOULD be better. They put the time and energy in. They worked harder than post-cu jedi plain and simple. And like life, they are better because of it.
Not every part of a mmorpg must be perfectly balanced between professions. Sure the devs try and make things within reason but gear will always set some apart. Jedi are the same, some will get better skill tapes and pearls.
If you really want to play a generic watered down mmorpg where everyone is the same and nice and balanced equally then may I suggest trying World of Warcraft. Over there a level 60 warlock is equal to every other level 60 warlock. This is the beauty of SWG, effort matters and can set you apart from the rest....Just like life.
you are an idiot...hate to say it but ya. better pearls and crystals arent making us "uber". a perfect saber isnt even as good as a 900dps power hammer is it? jedi would be no more powerfull than a melee stacker if they DID have perfect sabers. So whats the point of being a jedi? you should get SOMETHING good for grinding millions more xp than other professions. right now were not even as strong as some other proffessions. so you need to understand what the hell your talking about before you go on your "i have my stuff so screw you" whine.
You can sit there all you want and spew out garbage about how everyone should have to work like you did to get a good saber, and you would be right except that conditions are not the same. I have a decent saber so this doesnt hurt me but I have plenty of friends who are stuck with 400 and some damage 36 FC gen 4s who are out killing Corsairs and Krayts almost all the time and arent getting anywhere. Even if they loot40 good pearls their chances at a desireable tune aren't near as good as they would be if they could loot 4 premiums.
Sandsifter wrote:
if you were a jedi you would know that today even if we got all perfect tunes and put them on our best saber it is still atleast 250 or morethen "regular" gun, guns don't even need to be uber to beat saber dmg... if we put all our points into dmg and got about 270 base then added 480+ worth of perfect tunes we'd only get a 750 dmg saber but the SAC would be too much... btw krayts back then were easy, i've heard of jedi farming them getting lots of flawless a day. I grinded just like the other jedi pre-cu then unlocked a few days after it and it was hard work for months doing nothing much grinding, so what about those ppl like me ? we worked hard then just to find out jedi got the biggest nerf ever with the CU...
You've "heard" of jedi getting lots of flawless a day ??? LOL, thats pretty funny.
I dont know about flawles but there was a good period of time pre-cu wehre i was getting at least 5 premiums in a buff session. I ignored the Ancient Krayts Unless i had a CM with me to tack on the DOTS because their resistance to everything made a fight last forever. They certainly didnt hit hard.
First off, krayts back then had 350k ham (assuming you newb players even know what ham is). Second, they dont die as fast as comparable krayts do now. I can solo a giant grand krayts lvl 88 in less than 3 minutes. With a friend pre-cu, it would take us 15-20 minutes to kill a krayt (and hope that someone didnt come along and kill-steal it). So stop spreading rumors because its simply not even close to being true. Krayts pre-cu were a million times harder than now
What are we basing this harder on? the time it took to kill? You could easily macro kill a Giant, the only ones you really had to watch were canyons because of the Stun.
You were more likely to loot tissues or scales than a pearl. And even less likely to get a great tune from it. Everyone hear seems to act like flawless pearls always tuned to 120 -9fc...well they rarely did. I personally tuned over 300 pearls and only 1 tuned perfect with decent speed. Of those 300+ pearls, I bought maybe 30 of them at crazy prices. The rest I spent months hunting and looting for.
I dont think many people believe that a flawless or premium means you get a instant perfect tune. But its pretty obvious that the chances of a good tune are allot higher when the word premium or flawless are attached to it. I said it already but ill say it again I tuned 74 good and below pearls/crystals whenI Unlocked and the best was a 56 damagae -4 fc, I tuned 5 Premium Crystals and theworst was a 87damage -9 force cost. Tiggs, you, and anyone else that wants to can downplay the siginificance of the grade of a crystal or pearl but anyone with a clue can see the difference.
Id even go so far as to guess that during those 300 tunes you did pre-cu you rejected quite a few pearls or crystals tha most Post CU Jedi would love to have.
And lets not forget one simple mistake by lag or macro messing up and you're down 400k xp. We had to deal with xp loss from them.
Dont expect me to apologize or even feel sorry for you for that system. Loosing XP should be a BH thing only, Im glad they changed that. It keeps Jedi from being stuck in a template that they dont like. It in no way means you are entitled to something that other people cant get.
You guys have it so easy its not funny. And it goes beyond pearls. Try spending 22 million for a +18 melee defense CA only to see SOE make it worthless after CU with new bio clothes with same mods. I spent maybe 75 million on skill tapes only to see them trashed. But I didnt complain, I went out and started looting all over again. You all have an even better chance as krayts are easily soloable now and die much faster. Not to mention they spawn in greater frequency and in different spots nowadays.
Oh yes only PRE-CU Jedi lost things when the CU hit. My Acklay power Hammer that cost 8 figures is worth waht now? My 2h speed tapes that cost millions? Scythes? I accept that because it happened to everyone.
Yes Krayts are still easily soloable but the fact is that I can kill every Krayt on tat and wont get better than a good pearl and yes a good pearl could tune to something decent with hi damage and low FC but the chances of a premium tuning to something decent are a whole lot higher. You can choose to ignore that fact all you want but its the truth.
I guess I shouldnt bother though trying to reason with spoiled brats. You'll find out once you enter the real world that you arent entitled to a corner office or a promotion or more money just because the guy down the hall has that stuff. Perhaps then you'll realize that time in service means something.
Number onestereotyping everyone that is upset about the pearl drop situation as a spoiled bratis just plain lame,
Number two this is a effing game not the Military or a Union or your job. The The fact that you cant seperate the two is really quite sad. There is no pecking order here no matter how much you feel there should be.You're trying to comparevirginity amongst prostitutes. Furthermore people aren't saying "hey he has a corner office and makes more money now give me that also", they are saying "he has a corner office and makes more money, now give me the same opportunity to get there that he had"
Well you all might as well quit now and go back to WoW cause the premiums arent coming back. And dont try and hope for a nerf of ours or adk cause thats just not going to ever happen. Tiggs and the devs know we'd riot over something like that. So they mention "interim" to appease you...an old PR trick trust me.
I completely agree with you about the ADK and te Nerfing but really its a matter of numbers, more people are effected by this problem on a daily basis and all that does is add more voices to the problem, Tiggs and the Devs know this. Something will change you can count on it.Either they will take away the importance of crystals and pearls or they will make the higher grade avaialble again.

Thats the whole problem so many people dont get the difference. Its like the people saying go out and solo grind like I did, but fail to recognize that solo grinding Pre-cu could get you 200-400k XP an hour where as solo grinding post -cu was 30-50k an hour with there ebing no change to the XP requirements.
All Jedi are equal but some Jedi are more equal than others.

In the CU era, it's all about balance. To be balanced, everyone must have the same opportunity to have a saber as good as the best. Before you ramble on about good pearls having the possibility to tune perfectly - spare me, premiums tune MUCH better in general. I killedALOT of krayts, andlooted premium pearls Pre-CU, krayts were damn easy then too. pre-CU you didnt have to worry about healing or dying when a krayt hit you - now you do.

I've got a near perfect tune from a quality pearl, so save your whining.
It's all a craps shoot. I doubt you were here for this, but for most of the tuning ability's life, tuning was absolutely completely random. The quality didn't make a lick of difference at all. Now they've fixed that, and all pearls have the same tuning range, it's just that the higher quality pearls have a bonus on the tuneing table.
You want a better chance to get a good tune, go get the luck FS skill. I have it and have found it to be invaluable.
Do you even know the definition of whining, or are you just following the rest of the sheep and spouting the same one liners?
The luck tree does not affect tuning, genius.

Whine: To complain or protest in a childish fashion, dictionary.comCalling for all the elder Jedi's sabers to be nerfed so you don't have to do as much work to be equal is exeedingly childish. As for luck affecting tunes, prove it.Show me a DEV post saying it doesn't affect tuning. In fact show me a DEV post saying ANYTHING about what ;uck does.Rumor: anything involving the luck tree.Fact: I have tuned less than half the pearls and crystals my guildmates have to get the same or better stats. The tuning table is a loot table, and Luck affects the loot tables, so shove it you self righteous little creep.P.S. if you can't take a flame, don't dishone out.Message Edited by Ihareo on 09-05-2005 01:55 PM
The mod says it affects things like AMOUNT of money, with luck 4 I see no difference in amount of loot or better tunes.
The skill is listed in the possible broken mods in the FS forum.Bac has requested the Devs come clean on it.
Nowhere does the mod say it affects loot table, just the amount of credits.
Tuning better pearls/crystals would be a great reason to get luck if it was true.
You talk about rumors and facts
FACT you are perpetuating a rumor by saying you think luck has affected your tuning
Other cases with those who have luck 4 have shown it doesnt affect a thing.
If I could I would drop luck 4
There are several threads with many who have luck 4 that also point out random loot drops and tuning pearls ARE not affected.
As I said in my other post it has been mentioned in the force sensitive forums as possibly being bugged.Since many have come forward that have yet to see any difference with it.

Consistant is a word you need to learn.
Also the phrases 'control group' and 'scientific method'.
Sorry, but the same 12 people that complain about verything, some of whom having admitted to not even being a Jedi, giving no evidence and no numbers , but using that as this week's excuse for flaming the DEVs, I can not count their evidence that Luck does not affect these things.
I, on the opther hand, commited myself to tests on several character ith the exact same builds and did the same quests and activities, one chharacter with luck and one without. The Luck character CONSISTANTLY got better loot, more credits and better tunes.
I have also tested this in full loot hunting groups, where one person would loot for a while, then another then another, and at the end of the day everyone could tell who had Luck and who didn't, and the guesses were 100% accurate as to who did and didn't have it.
The key thing that the nay sayers FAIL to test is the difference soloing Vs the diference when grouped. Solo, the luck skill makes almost no difference, but the more people in the group, the bigger difference. I suspect that luck is a percentage bonus, and since the loot table bonuses go up when people are grouped, the skill grants a bigger bonus at the same percentage.
I suspect that the Luck skill's opposers are only opposed because they don't want it to be true. They didn't have the courage to purchase a skill that didn't have explicit numbers, therefore they don't want there to be anything there.

I am very well aware of the word.
Consistantly getting crap tunes with luck 4 while grouped and buffed with my alts buffs
Consistantly getting same amount of credits as my Master Rifleman
Consistantly getting the same randomness with regards to type of loot
You think your the only one that conducted these kinds of tests?
You keep saying you suspect you suspect
Fact is you have no conclusive evidence to prove or disprove that luck does anything.
And that is the key problem, nobody can prove or disprove it is working as intended.
Until the Devs come clean on exactly what the skill is supposed to do, you are just specualting based on the randomness of this game.

buffed and unbuffed with musician buffs
Sole looter and taking turns looting
Have been keeping track ever since I picked up the skill, back in the day the village first came online.
As I have said, its all speculation based on this games randomness.
Without knowing exactly what the skill affects, there is know way of knowing if it works or not.
Alot of players took it expecting better loot.If it was working in any form you wouldnt have the amount of people coming forward in the FS forum and not the same 12 people you elude to.

Think of it as practical aljebra. We have all the evidence for the various parts of the equation, all we lack is the what (meaning what table does it affect)

Sure you would. Many people expect immediate gratification, or expect the 'kuck loot' to be better than other loot, and this just isn't the case.
