Emensely helpful post. I have endless questions, but i picked these:
1. Which mobs drop a refined crystal pack?
2. What is the difference between a primary crystal and a focusing crystal?
(note: are there links to help in the making of a training lightsaber?)
Please excuse my ignorance and thank you in advance.

You gain the ability to craft crystal packs upon reaching initiate. They require three different resources (don't remember exactly) and cannot be experimented so quality doesn't matter. Hope that answered your question
woolie (the savage beast)
TY for your response.
"don't remember exactly" -- is that because it was so long ago for you?
Anyhow, I assume its 2 color crystals and some metal and chem. Ok, I just wanted to prepare as I have lots of colored crystals butno clear/white ones. What mobs drop clear most often?

no its just some metal and gemstone color crystals give your saber thier color.. thats it.. anything can drop a clear but NS tend to drop the better
It's a bit tedious, but a 'rebel general' and a 'rebel surface marshall' spawn at each mission, giving you 2 towards your total. Additionally, the old trick of killing the npcs and not killing the uh 'lair' and coming back to find a respawn works on these missions too, at least a few times. That means you can net 12 of your necessary total for each pair of 8k missions.
I can't say whether rebellion missions work the same, but probably safe to assume so.
