I was never lower than -5 mill in the hole, and I am still a paddy. The FRS was shut off by the time I got to full temp.

I think the most important 2 questions are:
1. What is the purpose of xp loss?
2. Is that purpose fulfilled?
If I am to reply thoose two questions I can come up with several replies to "1" but almost always my answer to "2" is "No".

Greets all...
One thing that puzzles me...
I too have been lucky enough to have +4mill xp banked for quite some time. I have also had enough skill to only be killed by 2 BHs of the multitude that have tried.
BUT...the part that puzzles me is that both times i died...i immediately checked my xp and it was still at 4mill??? (after i cloned).
Any ideas on this?

Becareful what you post. If you say anything about how the new jedi lose no xp( except to BH death's), while us older jedi are screwed with millions of -xp (due to pve deaths) The wonderful mods will delete it.Talk about revisionist history. To sum up it seems we've lost our beloved profession to the carebears, since history is written by the winners 
So enjoy the profession you crybabies have created for yourself. I for one am having more fun playing my main. For those of you that think the return of the FRS will be your savior, remember this: Soe has never coded anything that an exploit or work around hasn't been found within a week

Different strokes for different folks. It seems that people like playing jedi as their main toon. With that comes the risk. I have capped the 4,000,000 three times. I would like to see the cap equal to the max loss. But that is wishful thinking. For the pre-cu jedi who complain, it is apparent that some of you did onot care to deal with XP loss. So you PvP away, had your fun, and now are crying foul. You can't have it both ways.
Oh, I still have a respec for what it is worth. I guess some day I will use it. Until then I will use my banked xp to change one line at a time and go back to grinding again. That is what intelligent gameplay is. Use what the game gives you to your advantage. Some folks call that exploiting, and in a manner of speaking it is. My suggestion is to get over it and find a way to get out of the hole. There have been many who were motivated to do so, and succeeded.

if the negative is 12 mil, the positive should be 12 million.

When I wanted to regrind, I put in a ticket to see if I could have it knocked back to -10mil to lessen the grind a little, CSR-PatrickM of Sunrunner told me "No, and quit the game if you dont like it."
So I grinded out the 15 mil, god I love SOE
thats utter BS. If the CSR really said that he should be FIRED at all costs. thats a personal opinion and should never NEVER be given from a csr. im sorry dude that has to suck to hear that

i was at -10mil a long time before the CU ... and i found when a BH DB'd me and then when i cloned and stuff i had past -10mil exp ... then later after i died (-200k exp NPC death) it gave me all the exp back and hit me back to -10mil.

PatrickM is the head CSR over on sunrunner, we all refer to him as CSR-AdolfM

GO GRIND!
in this system if you still have - XP then you are just lazy its very easy to get XP i have regrinded my temp 3 times ( not a big over haul ) but changes and still have my respec. This should not even be an issue unless some of the old timers just came back and alot are. Go grind and get rid of the - XP new Jedi get full temps insanley fast w/ BH for you BH are not a problem for the most part as any jedi with -XP will also have a good saber.
This is issue is very small when you consider the others we have.

Easy fix... make BH lose XP and their master title if it drops below X. As a MBH, i dont think its fair that I can only lose the bounty to a jedi with everything to lose.
