Thread: Visibility question
equip or unequip a saber
ignite a saber
spend forcepoints
you gain visibility for each player and npc the witness these actions
you do not gain visibility if your saber is already equiped, if you have force powers already active, or run around with a saber already ignited when you enter that 32m range. ( so you could ignite your saber, hit peace while still in combat, turn on force run, and then run through theed and you shouldn't get any visibility, as long as no one is within 32m before entering town.)

Can this be confirmed? Seems to easy to me.

Sorry - you guys have probably answered these questions 1000's of times, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for with the super dooper search functions on the boards.
yes and its all in the FAQ
Last night I was riding between missions and got knocked off my speeder by some mokks. I drew my saber, but stored it real quick and got killed, because I knew I had a doctor near by. There were 6 mokks, and I figured this would have gotten me a ton of visibility, but a BH friend checked and I was not on the terms 20 minutes later. How long does it take to show up on the terms after getting visibility? Or is it random/not consistent?
it depends on how much vis you have the more vis you have the more your mission is liekly to appear when you refresh the boards. it can sometimes take up to 40minutes to an hour for a BH to cycle the boards enough to get a noob on the boards to actually show up in the list. but you appear on the terms soon as you gain enough vis. just because your friend spent a few minutes looking for you doesnt mean your not there.
I also discussed this with a knight friend who told me that visibility is only gained when you kill an npc with a LS, not just them seeing it, or use a force power w/in range of them. This doesnt seem correct to me. Any comments on this?
your knight friend should have not got his jedi off ebay. that is totally not how it works. it doesnt matter whether the NPC dies or not use a force power, initiate an attack or swing the saber special or not inside 32m of another player or NPC and your getting vis. same with force powers.
Thanks!
Anyhow. Thanks to everyone for their answers. It sounds like I didnt end up with enough visibility from my little incident to get on the terms.

He defidently didnt get his jedi off ebay. I was there when he opened his slot on swordsman back way way way before publish 9. I think he just misspoke...hes famous for that, which is why I checked here.

if he actually thinks thats how it works it would be amazing he got to knight past the BH hehehe

So I think am starting to understand as I've been a padawan for several weeks now. Certain actions add to the visibility count and once youreach the *magic* number you are put on the BH terms. Now here is where I get fuzzy. It takes 3 weeks of no added count for visibility to go back to zero? Does that mean that it decreases over time or does it take 3 weeks and it drops like a rock to zero? I'm just trying to make sure I understand how this works.

to get to 0 vis it takes three weeks of no visibility from the last time you had a incident.
it drops gradually overtime. so the incident you have today will poof 3 weeks of server up from now. so it is possible to be one incident from the terms for a very long time if you accrue vis at a slow enough rate to equal the time it takes for the prior incidents to phase out.
thats why a lot of jedi who get off the terms over time can have one sighting and poof back on the terms.
from my experience as a BH and Jedi this is how i beleive it works.if X is the amount incidents to get on the terms a BH death will remove X amount of vis. if Y is the amount of vis you accrue after the point you show on the terms and you have X+Y and a BH kills you you lose X amount of vis. this still leaves you with Y. so itis possible to get right back on the terms with very few incidents since you still have Y ammount. i think that BH deaths only remove X amount and doesnt totally flush your vis. either that or it removes just enough vis to drop off one step off the terms. i think this because i have hunted jedi thatthen show on the terms again after a sighting or two.
but it would take some serious testing to prove how it actually works but i think im pretty close.
I believe this to be true.
I was killed by a BH and 30 minutes later another showed up and said he got my mission 5 minutes from the arrival. In the 30 minutes from my rez, I had no contact with any PC or NPC other than the doc.
But another question I have is, do scans by probots give you visibility? I couldn't understand how I got visibility the first time other than a probot search that happened while I was grinding. To my knowledge there was no NPCs or PCs around while I was grinding( I check my radar and overhead before killing those nasty pickets and quenkers). Any thoughts?
PS before you suggest that maybe there was a NPC or PC near, I know that I may not have noticed any but just trying to see if anyone else has had a similar experience with probot scans.

yes droids give vis. especially factioned droids like a scanning probot. they dont give you vis by scanning you but just the same way any other NPC does. its not proven one way or the other if your personal droids give vis or not but i dont use em when i fight just to be safe. but wild NPC droids sure do.
if your a rebel jedi your insane staying in that faction since its easy to get turned overt and then hit by a gank squad on your way to a recruiter. go neutral or imp while grinding.
i treat all dots as NPC till i check them all. and i dont equip the saber til im positive there are no NPC near me. i dont ride around with my saber equiped since it only takes on sister or mokk to yank you off your ride or a DJM to force choke your bike and your on the terms from autodefend.
